A Classic Gibson Archtop!

The Gibson Memphis ES-355 Bigsby semi-hollowbody guitar electrified the guitar world in the late '50s and quickly became a favorite axe for all styles of music. This modern model faithfully re-creates the original body design of the ES-355, combining it with a Traditional "C" neck profile. The ES-355 features a 3-ply maple/poplar/maple body and a mahogany neck with mother-of-pearl block inlays. With vintage-toned '57 Classic humbuckers, you've got a guitar that's both a stunning instrument and a piece of music history. There are few other guitars that match the Gibson Memphis ES-355 Bigsby semi-hollowbody for sheer star power.

  • The unshakable legacy you only get from a real Gibson guitar
'57 Classic pickups deliver vintage PAF tone

To give the ES-355 the authentic sound of a late '50s model, Gibson Custom had to pick out the perfect set of humbuckers. That's why they went with a set of '57 humbuckers. One strum, and you'll discover for yourself the truly time-tested tone you just can't get any other way. If you want great sound and classy looks, then the Gibson Custom ES-355 is right up your alley.

Archtop design captures the essence of an early electric guitar

The first ES-355s that rolled off the Gibson production line have truly achieved legendary status. In the 1960s, the chunkier, 1950s neck was replaced with a thinner neck, and the dot inlays were replaced with block inlays. Structurally, the ES-355 didn't change much from the '50s to the '60s, but the slimmer neck aided fast fretwork, making it a perfect fit for the blues-inspired psychedelic rock of the '60s. The maple body coupled with the mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard provides the perfect balance of warmth and bite, making the ES-355 suitable for a wide variety of musical styles.

Bigsby vibrato tailpiece

Nothing beats the character and vintage vibe that a real Bigsby vibrato tailpiece adds to this ES-355. Based on the original design created by Paul A. Bigsby, this Bigsby makes it particularly easy to pull off slow, subtle, and extended bends with the Gibson ES-355 hollowbody electric guitar.

The unshakable legacy you only get from a real Gibson guitar

From their amazing collection of fine acoustics to the electric guitars that literally rewrote music history, Gibson guitars have been on almost every chart-topping album from artists such as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Cream, and Led Zeppelin. These first-call instruments also cross an enormous array of diverse styles, from folk and country to blues and hard rock. With that resume, it's not surprising that so many of Gibson's best-selling instruments have changed little over the decades, because there's just no sense in messing with a good thing!

Gibson ES-355 Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar Features:
  • A classic semi-hollowbody electric guitar that captures the essence of the archtop age
  • 3-ply maple/poplar/maple top, back, and sides deliver a bright and vibrant tone
  • '57 Classic pickups give you the sound of vintage Gibson PAF humbuckers
  • Mahogany neck with Traditional "C" profile feels smooth and plays like a dream
  • Bigsby vibrato tailpiece for expressive dips, flutters, and bends
The Gibson Memphis ES-355 Bigsby delivers both punch and finesse.

Es355 Bigsby Memphis

Great sounding guitar. Well worth the money!
5/5

Awesome Guitar

Had always wanted an ES-335 with Bigsby back in the early 1960s, but could never afford one. This ES-355 enables me to come full circle and finally own that one-time "guitar of my dreams." The tone and action are superb, and the workmanship of the guitar itself is second to none! Still, this guitar is among the best I've ever owned and played. The Sweetwater folks, especially Geoff Allen, were extremely helpful in bringing this guitar to me. Great guitar and great service are making me a Sweetwater customer for life.
Music background: Former band, orchestra and studio guitarist way back when who, now that I'm retired, is reconnecting with my past.
