Kawai Tone and Touch, Unbeatable Value

In the market for a stage piano? If performance and value are your two top concerns, Sweetwater has an excellent suggestion: Weighing just 26.5 pounds, the Kawai ES110 makes an ideal gigging partner with 19 great sounds onboard. Playing feel is superb — Kawai's Responsive Hammer Compact action gives the Kawai ES110 the feel of a real acoustic piano, complete with graded hammers.

The Kawai ES110's sound is sublime: Harmonic Imaging technology and 192-note polyphony deliver impeccable grand piano sound. And with its dedicated line-out jacks, plus MIDI ports, you'll have everything you need to take the stage. The Kawai ES110 does double duty as an ideal home piano with onboard lessons, Dual and Split modes, and Bluetooth for connecting to your smart devices.

Responsive Hammer Compact Action gives you the feel of a real acoustic piano

Kawai developed their Responsive Hammer Compact Action used in the Kawai ES110 to capture the distinctive feel of an acoustic grand piano. With an innovative springless design that provides consistent upward/downward motion, this action gives you a natural, smooth, piano playing experience. Just as acoustic piano hammers are heavier in the bass and get lighter as you move up towards the treble end of the keyboard, RHC action in the Kawai ES110 uses different hammer weights that are graded for each playing range. This fastidious attention to detail gives you maximum stability when playing fortissimo passages, while giving you the delicate pianissimo control you need.

Harmonic Imaging technology delivers stunning grand piano sound

Sit down at the Kawai ES110 and play. The stunning piano sound you hear is none other than the meticulously sampled sound of a hand-crafted Kawai concert grand piano, with all 88 keys painstakingly recorded and faithfully reproduced using Kawai's Harmonic Imaging technology. This proprietary process accurately re-creates the immense dynamic range of the grand piano, giving you a truly impressive measure of expressiveness, from ppp to fff and beyond. If this were the only sound onboard the Kawai ES110, it would be a fabulous value, but there's a total of 19 amazing sounds, including orchestral strings, electric pianos, organs, vibes, harpsichord, choir, and more.

Features to foster your development as a pianist

The Kawai ES110 digital piano includes a 3-song recorder, letting you record your performances to internal memory and play them back at the touch of a button. What's more, there's a cool lesson feature that helps aspiring pianists to learn the piano using an onboard collection of Burgmuller etudes, as well as songs from the popular Alfred Basic Piano course. You can practice left and right hand parts for each piece separately, and adjust the tempo to master the more difficult passages. The Kawai ES110’s Dual and Split modes (and dual headphone jacks) let you collaborate with a teacher or duet partner, while 192-note polyphony is more than enough to ensure that all your notes are heard.

Worth the wait!

Very glad that I purchased this keyboard, even with the backorder time. In my opinion, it sounds fantastic. I've played for 55 years, but in the last several decades very rarely as I didn't have a piano. I've already started peeling the layers of rust off of my skills and off my 60 year old fingers and I couldn't be happier.
I purchased this keyboard, the furniture stand, a bench and headphones and Sweetwater sent everything perfectly packaged. They kept me informed during the process and I am so happy that my sister recommended them to me.

For a budget board this is the one to buy

I read reviews, watched videos online, consulted forums. It was said that it had a light touch (I prefer), and yet gave you the full satisfaction of being able to easily go from ppp to fff. I can confirm this to be true, have been thrilled with the action, which is the main reason I bought it. I also LOVE the light weight- 26 pounds! It also comes with a heavy duty half-damper pedal.

PLUSES:
- Expressive action
- Light weight
- Damper pedal
- MIDI din In/Out
- Bluetooth MIDI and for use with their iOS Technician app

Everything about this board tells me how piano-centric Kawai is, and you can tell.

Things I don't love about this board (no stars taken off because of price point)
- No aux in!!! From getting the sound of another keyboard coming in to having music you play along with, I really wanted this
- No screen. Thru a combo of button and key presses, you can get the job done. I've taken to using artists tape to note what keys do what with which button. Once you've got your 'map' in place above and below the keys, it's a pretty direct method, though I'd still prefer to have a screen
- Speakers downward facing, so not a direct, clear sound from the speakers. It's not a bad sound, better than some at this price point, but not ideal. I really like and often use onboard speakers.
- No USB for connecting to a computer

So, in effect, this board has impressed me with 'Club Kawai', and when their new models came out, with all the things I had wished were on the ES110, and much more, I've been saving up since.

The ES520 and ES920, IMHO, are the best-bang-for-buck keyboards in the under $2000 category, and I want me one!

A Lot More Than I expected

I am and have been for 43 years a guitar player, I have always been drawn by the sound of the piano, especially acoustic piano's , stand up or baby or full grand, and have sat at them and plucked some notes but just felt overwhelmed by them, and have left them be, until now.I can not leave this piano alone, I think sometimes my wife believes I have divorced her. hahaa, She is very supportive. I have the music in my head and my heart as they say, whoever they be. I have found it hard to get past the grand piano sounds ,even though it has other settings,,, so, how does it play. Having played real acoustic piano's I find it a joy to sit and play, at first the keys looked a quarter mile long, with lesson, and practice, the keys seem to be shrinking in size and the joy is increasing, when a piano sounds so grand and after practice you play the notes right and in time,,, well simply put it's quite a moving experience, It's been two month's at this writing and the piano has held up beautifully, and sometimes I bang it, this piano doesn't care, the onboard speakers are ok, but like any onboard speakers it's not the same as a powered amp or speaker, it will floor you when you play it through something like that , and you can tweak mids , treb and bass that way also. I have seen people complain in reviews about the buttons,, this is not Deep Purples synthesizer, it's a piano, I hit the ON button, select the piano, very easy to do, and enjoy. I'm happy with this piano. Anyone who loves music, and doesn't expect the piano to vacuum the floor and do the dishes as well because you paid hard earned money for it , will also enjoy it, I would hope.A real piano , as well as any instrument is not just inherently easy to play, you do have to work, but work brings rewards. And rewards are joyous, like music. Thanks to Sweetwater for professional conduct and excellent support.
Music background: Singer /Songwriter, played in numerous different Bands over the years

Purchase of Kawai ES110

After deciding I wanted a keyboard, I called Sweetwater and spoke with Mitch Dazey. While I am not a connoisseur of keyboards, I knew what I wanted to hear in one. Thankfully Mitch was able to decipher exactly what sound I was looking for and recommended the Kawai. I love it! I would like to add that this was by far the best customer service I have ever received in the purchase of anything I have ever bought. Sweetwater is an exceptional company that others should set as their goal.. Thank you so much Mitch for the assistance and expertise you provided.

As the second-largest piano producer in the world, Kawai has been a household name for more than 100 years. Many of the pianists and keyboardists here at Sweetwater have been playing Kawai instruments our entire lives, and we're always thrilled to turn the players we know on to the quality Kawai pianos and keyboards we carry. People step into the Sweetwater Piano Showroom every day looking for that perfect instrument, and it's always fun to see them discover the great feel and exquisite sound Kawai offers.
