Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plustop Pro Solidbody Electric Guitar at a Glance:
  • A universe of tone from tapped ProBuckers
  • The Les Paul backstory
  • With a Les Paul, you're in good company
A universe of tone from tapped ProBuckers

The ProBuckers on the Les Paul Standard Plustop Pro feature Alnico II magnets - the same as sought-after vintage PAF humbuckers - for rich, warm tone with crystalline highs and a tight bottom. With a ProBucker-2 in the neck position and a (slightly overwound) ProBucker-3 in the bridge position, crank your gain and you can do some serious damage. We're talking legendary Les Paul fat, snarling tone served up with days of sustain. Excited? There's more. You also get coil tapping, controlled by push-pull volume pots, giving you an infinite variety of sounds from single-coil spank to full humbucker shred. This Paul is a tone machine.

The Les Paul backstory

The Les Paul backstory actually started with an instrument dubbed The Log. During the early 1940s, in a quest for an electric guitar that would sustain for days, Les Paul - the legendary guitarist and inventor - fashioned what may well have been the first solidbody guitar from a length of common 4" x 4" lumber. For appearances (and possibly playing comfort), Les sawed an Epiphone hollowbody in half and attached the two wings to either side of The Log. Les continued to develop the idea through a series of prototypes, ultimately resulting in the classic solidbody guitar we know and love.

With a Les Paul, you're in good company

From rock to fusion (and beyond), the Les Paul's surly snarl has virtually defined attitude-laden overdrive guitar sound. Legendary guitarists such as Jimmy Page, Al Di Meola, Alex Lifeson, Slash, and countless others have forged their signature sounds with a Les Paul. Epiphone now gives you the opportunity to experience that one-of-a-kind tone and look at an amazingly affordable price with the Les Paul Standard Plustop Pro. What's more, the Plustop Pro comes with Epiphone's Limited Lifetime Warranty and is backed by Gibson's 24/7/365 Customer Service, so you know you're making a solid investment.

Guitar review

The guitar is beyond great. The Epiphone Les Paul standard plus top pro is great guitar. The vintage sunburst finish is beautiful. It plays like a dream. My other electric guitar is a 1964 Fender Jaguar. I think the Epiphone sounds better and plays better. Aaron was extremely helpful and Sweetwaters service is top notch. I will deal with them again. Thank you Aaron and Sweetwater.
Music background: I've been playing guitar since 1963.

Came right out of the box with a very professional setup. No buzzing strings, intonation dead on, and action just the way I like it. First time I've purchased a guitar and didn't to redo the setup from the supposedly expert at the store. Was hesitant about purchasing a guitar online but can't say enough about the customer service and product quality.

Such a dream, when i was young and in my high school days, I played in several bands. Back then most of us had very little money. So we played with what we could find. Mine was an old Kay hollow body. Wasn't bad but not in the same ball park as the Epiphone Les Paul, I just bought from Sweetwater. what a great bunch of guys! I am really enjoying my mew guitar. If you are even thinking about trying one of these baby's don't put it off. You won't be disappointed! Happy picking!

Grandson loves his Epiphone Les Paul

My grandson had saved up some cash to get a new guitar this fall, and I told him about the great price on the Epiphone Les Paul Plustop Pro guitar. He checked out the demo video and was blown away by how great it sounded. I ordered a Vintage Sunburst on-line for him and it arrived in three days...wow! Great follow thru by Jason T. !! My grandson came over the afternoon it arrived, and brought his amp with him and he stayed for about six hours playing the new Les Paul. He had a grin so wide u cud drive a truck thru it ...Lol! I cant play a guitar but it sounded awesome !!

I got the guitar a couple of weeks ago and have been playing it pretty much nonstop. I love the feel of the neck. Pick ups have a great sound. Haven't noticed any fret buzz or issues. Since I live in an apartment I haven't had the opportunity to hear what it sounds like through an overdriven amp but one day I will teach my neighbor's dog what good music is all about!
