EMG DG20 David Gilmour Signature Pre-wired Stratocaster Pickguard at a Glance:
  • EMG SA pickups
  • "Strat Presence Control"
  • EXG Guitar Expander

EMG SA pickups
The EMG SA is an active single coil loaded with an Alnico V bar magnet that provides a vintage Strat single coil sound: bright, airy, with a rich bottom end. With internal shielding and a low impedance preamp, you get virtually noiseless operation at a higher output level so that all the tone makes it to your amp. Additionally, the Alnico V bar magnet allows for the output to remain balanced during string bends, and makes for a playability and reliability that is unrivaled. The creamy mid-range warmth and sublime blues tones are clear, strong and expressive, and allow you to reach from classic and clean, to rowdy and raunchy.

"Strat Presence Control"
The SPC or "Strat Presence Control" is often called the fat control. The original intent of the SPC was to turn the tone of a single-coil pickup into a dual-coil. This is accomplished by boosting the gain in a broad mid-band fashion and reducing the highs. The result is a fatter, louder tone from any single coil pickup, but you can also use it on a humbucking to give you a high output, really fat tone that's great for slide guitar.

EXG Guitar Expander
For flexibility in tone at your fingertips look to the EXG Guitar Expander. The frequency response of the EXG is similar to normal guitar amp equalization. The lows and highs are boosted while the midrange is dipped out. The EXG is great for creating a fuller tone that doesn't get muddy, while keeping it clean and clear, letting your guitar stand out in the mix.

EMG DG20

I love this thing! The pickups are load, clean, crisp and noiseless. The exp and spc tone controls are amazing after you get the feel for them. Normal tone controls simply roll off treble, but these actually give color and dimension to your tone. I will always have a Strat with this set up. For me, it's a must have. I've been using one for about 8 years now.

Nice... Very Nice

I have been searching for a pup configuration for my frakenstrat for the past two years... I found it.. This thing really sparkles. A little pricey. I was lucky and found mine on sale for labor day. Not telling what I paid. Just saying..... The pups are really hot!!! You might have to mess with the tone and volume just for a bit but you will find awesome tones up and down the pots rotations. Very Cool. Real glassy tones. Bell like glassy if that makes sence. Once again, very cool. Positions two and four being my favorite. My project guitar has now become my favorite. I tore apart an american deluxe with the S1 switch. The tone is impecable. I have been playing it thru a twin reverb and a mesa mark V. The sound out of the Twin is Awesome!!!!!!! I really believe Fender should make an axe with theese pups in there. Hmmm??? Call it the American Blow your face off Strat. That was dumb.. The only downside is the battery... Oh the battery.. I have never owned a guitar with active pups... I am not ashamed now.. I will deal with the hassle...

Awesome versatility!

Loving the EMG pickups! I'm a a great fan of David Gilmour's signature tone and it meets the expectations. You can get the sounds from the classic single coil tone to the humbucker tones associated with this set. Very easy to install and only takes 10 minutes of your time to put it in a Strat style body.
