Dependable Bugera Tubes

Whether you're looking for a single tube or a matched set, Sweetwater suggests you trust your tone to tubes you can rely on. Bugera valves are subjected to rigorous testing to ensure you'll get great tone right out of the box. First, these EL84 power tubes must pass a 48-hour burn-in where it's pushed to the limit. Next, a vibration table test ensures the structural integrity of each EL844 will stand up to your gig schedule. After its been warmed up and shaken around, each tube goes through computer-controlled testing to evaluate 12 more operating parameters, so you know when your new Bugera EL84 power tubes arrive, they'll be in perfect operating condition.

bugeras in a crate vc3112

I used these for replacement in a crate vc 3112, which is a 30 watt fixed bias amp using 4 el84's and 4 12ax7s. I believe the previous power tubes were sovteks. The preamp tubes weren't marked but I replaced them with electroharmonix. The tone of this amp in general: The clean channel has a nice glassy sparkling tone that breaks up a little as you turn it up, the distortion channel isn't my favorite but has it uses. It is a little spongy or lacking in the lows or low mids. The clean channel sounded as good or a little brighter after the tubes were replaced. The gain channel seemed to be capable of a little bit more distortion or break up after installing these tubes. that could of course be related to the different preamp tubes as well. The tubes are working well so far but I just installed them a few weeks ago. So far so good. I will note that one of the preamp tubes was bad (nasty crackling, and sparks coming from my amp). I called sweetwater and they sent me another one and it corrected the problem.
