Artcore Custom or truly something different?
As a long-time player of Ibanez Artcores I was skeptical of this model at first. I've owned just about every Artcore hollow-body that Ibanez have produced (AFS75T, AF95, AFS95T, AS93, AS103, AF105, AS153) so another flashy Artcore guitar with a signature artist's name on it didn't really excite me too much.
But I've listened to Eric Krasno for a long time now and I figured, "what the hell?" I'll try it, just to see if having his name on a guitar really made any tonal difference to the instrument.
I have an AS93-BLS at the moment which cost me maybe $500 originally. I had that guitar worked on by a local luthier and it is just one of the best guitars I've ever owned. So the EKM had a lot to live up to if it wanted to impress me at this price. I also just got rid of my Gretsch 6137-TB Panther so this thing needed to perform to live up to it's hype.
Suffice to say; this guitar is all it is cracked up to be. Very bright, even, with an excellent playing fingerboard. Very nice wood and finish. The Bigsby is well installed and aside from some creakiness (WD-40'd it) it performs perfectly. I have no complaints about this guitar. Great right out of the box. And it's a really gorgeous looking axe as well.
