    Great Tubes

I love it in my Orange Rocker 30!

    Better than what I had

I was replacing the tubes in a DBX-586. Stock are 12AU7's. I didn't realize until I opened my preamp cover (I am the second owner) that the original owner had put Groove Tubes 12AU7 tubes in replacement of the stock units. I had heard good things about the ones I discovered and had second thoughts about my "upgrade" purchase. I switched them anyway just to get an idea of how it would work out as I have little tube experience.
There was a noticeable difference immediately and I found there to be a better signal path in relation to noise and tube distortion. There was a significant increase in gain as well. (approx 3-4 notches worth on the input dials)
This unit has it's rep in the audio world. My use is for Trad. Celtic music in mostly a live setting. Pristine audio is not always in my vocabulary. It performs better than my alternatives and this tube install made it a better performer for my purpose. I'm happy with them.

    Excellent

These are great tubes. 12 AX need to be changed up regularly and these are well made and reliable tubes. A very good choice and a wise investment.

An excellent choice for a pre amp tube

In a pinch, I had installed a Boogie tube in my Bad Cat Mini Cat, and it was the wrong tube for the amp. I ordered a couple of these, popped one in, and I had my sweet, chimy little amp back. This tube is a nice choice for Vox-like lower gain amps. Might also work well in an amp where less pre-amp gain is desired.

Good current production tube! And there aren't very many.

I don't want anybody to think this tube isn't a good tube simply because I gave it a 3.5. I use a number of vintage NOS tubes from the 50's and 60's that go for $100-$200 each, and of course these tubes are what I would call "Wow!" category tubes. But this New Sensor Mullard is one of the top two 12AX7 current production tubes I've heard, not that I've heard them all. Most current production tubes, though, are real duds compared to my vintage tubes, but this tube holds its own pretty well against my 1960's NOS Mullards. It's not quite there, but it's still a good tube. Smooth and quiet. Nice tube for the money.
