Buttery Playability - and Big, Balanced Tone!

The Epiphone AJ-220SCE is one of Epi's best selling acoustic-electric guitars - and for good reason. The AJ-220SCE's Advanced Jumbo body gives you big sound, while conveying every nuance of your performance. Its bell-like shape sports a large lower bout and a smaller, rounded upper bout; this combination delivers a focused, balanced tone with robust lows complimented by a brilliant crispness in the mids and highs. And this guitar's comfortable SlimTaper neck and elegant Venetian cutaway make fast runs in the treble range a pleasure to execute. Factor in Shadow's Performer Tuner preamp, and the Epiphone AJ-220SCE becomes an irresistible bargain.

Epiphone AJ-220SCE Acoustic/Electric Guitar at a Glance:
  • Beefy lows, crisp mids, and bell-like highs
  • With the AJ-220SCE, you're always stage-ready
  • Perfect for singer-songwriters - or in your thickest track
Beefy lows and crisp, clear mids

The Epiphone AJ-220SCE serves up crisp, clear mids and highs - a refreshing change if you're used to a square-shouldered dreadnought. What's up with that? Epiphone's Advanced Jumbo body shape - first produced in the 1930s - has a big lower bout, and a smaller, rounded upper bout - with a narrow waist in between. This bell-shaped arrangement is what's responsible for the unmistakable clarity that characterizes Epi's Advanced Jumbo acoustics.

You're always stage-ready

With the Epiphone AJ-220SCE, you're always ready for the spotlight. Fitted with Shadow's Performer Tuner preamp system, the AJ-220SCE gives you get easy plug 'n' play access to great amplified acoustic guitar tone. The system gives you control over master volume, as well as treble and bass EQ, a tuner/mute button, and a built-in chromatic tuner. And powered by two 2032 lithium batteries, the Shadow Performer is much lighter weight and easier to maintain than older systems that use 9V batteries.

Perfect for singer-songwriters - or in your thickest track

The Epiphone AJ-220SCE's big, balanced tone is ideal for singer-songwriters. If you perform solo, the AJ-220SCE is your perfect accompaniment, serving up the natural acoustic volume and bass response you need, along with the midrange clarity and bell-like highs that are so important for enhanced solo playing. With that said, the AJ-220SCE also sits beautifully in a track. Again, it's this instrument's inherent clarity that makes the difference. When you've got bass, drums, keyboards, electric guitars, and vocals all competing for attention, you certainly don't need a muddy-sounding acoustic!

Love it

Bought this guitar as a gift for my husband and he absolutely loved it! We are very happy with the purchase and he loves playing it.

I miss it so much

I bought this guitar in 2008. Pre amp went out within 2 years, so I "upgraded" to a Takamine which I'd always wanted in 2010. In 2011, went on eBay and bought a cheap after market no name preamp and pick up with built in tuner. These electronics were 10 times better than the Epiphone factory PU. I recently got another one for another guitar. Anyway, I then stared playing the Aj220 again at shows as well as my Takamine. When I decided to upgrade my Tele to a better one, my wife decide I had too many guitars(only 7). So I then went to guitar center and sold my Epi and my lower end Tele. I almost cried after I left without it. I have regretted getting rid of it all year. I will be getting another soon and this time from Sweetwater. And my wife will just have to live with it. I won't say that this is a "good guitar for the money". this guitar is worth 5 times what they sell for. I've been considering getting a Gibson j45 custom, but my alternative is this guitar, and not because of the price, but because this guitar is awesome, and after I owned mine for 6 years, the wood aged some, and the unplugged tone was better than my takamine, or my gibson hummingbird. BUY ONE!!!!!!!!!!

Great acoustic for under $500

This acoustic is amazing! The sound is loud and beautiful, and not bad for my first steel string. I got this for my 17th birthday, which was the best present I got. The built in tuner works amazing as well as the pre-amp. If you're looking for a jumbo dreadnought acoustic with great sound for a great price, stop now and buy this!!!!!

Awesome Guitar - Great Choice

OK, lets take the $$$ out of the equation. WOW! No matter what the cost this guitar is off the hook! Nice feel. Nice sound. Can't beat it for the $$$ and it really compares to guitars in the $1K+ range. Really. I love this bad boy!
