Flatwound Bass Strings

Capture that classic flatwound bass sound with D'Addario ECB80 Chromes Bass strings. Flatwound strings have long been the go to strings for Jazz, R&B, and Pop bass players. The warm, mellow tone and deep low end can't be captured by roundwound strings. And the smooth polished feel of the flattened stainless steel ribbon wire is extremely comfortable. Take it from Sweetwater's discerning bass players - D'Addario ECB80 Chromes Bass strings provide the low end and flatwound vibe you're looking for.

D'Addario - Making strings for over 300 years

Behind every set of D'Addario strings are over three centuries of fine craftsmanship. The D'Addario family tradition began in the tiny town of Salle, Italy in 1680 where they made assorted instrument strings for over two hundred years before relocating to New York in 1905. As the modern string making industry began to develop, the D'Addario family emerged as innovators by designing the winding machine most string makers still use today. And while their techniques have modernized, the pride that goes into each set of strings dates back to the D'Addario family's earliest roots.

D'Addario ECB80sl Chromes Wound Super Long Scale

If you have a TWELVE STRING BASS, these are the strings to use. They feel good to your fingers, and have a great resonance and, sustain. I enjoy these strings. I, also use D'Addario strings on my eight Bass as well. They are a work HORSE. They will take what you give them and ask for more. But, with either a eight or a twelve they are picked rather than fingered to hear the upper register strings clearly. I want these strings heard, at times, I want the audience to be surprised to know what they are hearing and the strings make the difference, and these do for the twelve string BASS. Don't be SHY, TRY these and don't pass them up, on something cheaper. I've been playing 40+ years and love quality, and these are quality!!!

that eberhard weber sound

Probably not for everyone or every bass, but super present, clear and very noticable. I play these on a 60's Ampeg fretless bass. For me these are a perfect match with a very old D"Addario cable and an Ampeg one twelve amp. The strings get better with age and are very smooth. I hate to change them but after 2 years it's probably necessary !! Thanks Sweetwater and thanks Trevor Brandt Larsen sierra city ca.
