Get Massive Tone from this Semi-acoustic Bass!

The Epiphone Jack Casady Signature Bass lets you explore new sounds and add acoustic dimension to your music. Developed and designed in partnership with Jack Casady, bass player for such groundbreaking bands as Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna, this semi-acoustic-electric bass gives you a great mix of clarity, punch, and bite. A hollow cavity gives the Jack Casady Signature Bass a natural woody voice, and a special pickup with a VariTone control lets you dial in a huge range of tones. Get ready to discover tons of great new sounds with your Epiphone Jack Casady Signature Bass!

Semi-hollow maple body provides bright attack and resonant acoustic thump

Here's something we don't see every day at Sweetwater: a semi-acoustic bass. What's more, the Jack Casady Signature Bass features a maple back and sides, whose bright and naturally resonant tone compliments the woody thump of its 34"-scale bass setup. Even without its killer electronics, all you have to do is listen to the acoustic sound of the Epiphone Jack Casady Signature Bass to know this is a very special instrument.

Specially designed pickup captures natural bass tone with extra clarity

To capture the full range of the Jack Casady Signature Bass's acoustic bass sound, Epiphone outfitted it with a specially designed low-impedance, low-output humbucker. Not only does this humbucker capture the Jack Casady Signature Bass's thump and growl beautifully, it also gives your sound the kind of clarity you don't typically get from bass pickups.

VariTone control makes dialing in the perfect bass sound as simple as turning a knob

Epiphone's VariTone circuitry is a truly unique beast, and it's part of what makes the Jack Casady Signature Bass such a fun and distinctive instrument to play. The VariTone control lets you dial in the impedance of its active humbucking pickup from around 50 ohms to around 500 ohms, which seriously affects your sound. As you turn the Jack Casady Signature Bass's VariTone control, you shift its tone from even dynamics and full tone to a punchier response with a narrower sound and plenty of bite. This gives you an absolutely massive sonic palette to play with!

Epiphone Jack Casady Signature Bass Semi-hollowbody Electric Bass Features:

  • An original bass that gives you a wide range of amazing acoustic and electric tones
  • The signature bass of one of rock's most influential bass players
  • Semi-acoustic laminate maple body adds bite and woody quality to your sound
  • Special low-impedance, low-output humbucker captures full-bodied tone with excellent clarity and definition
  • VariTone impedance shifting circuit lets you dial in a broad spectrum of excellent bass sound

High Quality

I was searching for an upgrade on my bass rig and purchased a popular Tube amp which I immediately sent back. None of my 8 basses sounded good through the new amp/cab. So I turned my thoughts towards a bass I've had an interest in since it's debut.
Back in the early 70's I owned an all black fretless with Tapewounds on it. I didn't play fretless at the time, so inevitably it was sold. Remorse. Recently, I started looking at the hollow-bodies that are available. I'm a smaller player, so size was a thing for me as the hollow body basses can get big and uncomfortable. Not following my criteria, I went ahead and allowed my wife to gift me this new bass. :whistle:
After YouTubin' it and deciding against certain models, I took my chances and bought an Epiphone Jack Casado Sig. WOW!! Incredibly well made high quality bass! Shipped to me in one day! Sweetwater! Coast to coast free!
Finish=Flawless
Intonation=Perfect
Hardware=Nickel
Frets=good no sprout

From the moment I plugged it in I was blown Away! It sounds sooooo good! Deep and rich. The Electar Humbucker is thoroughly beautiful. This is definitely a do all bass. It's not too big to make it uncomfortable. It has a 3 position selector switch that allows you to dial up different ratings @ 50/250/500. All the videos for other basses in this category were often played with a little overdrive which I was only interested in the clearest of tone and output. This bass has it all. You want whopping clear authority or driven into frenzy it's here! Best bass I've ever owned.

Jack Casady Bass

This is an excelleny bass by all standards! I have 2!! a gold top and the burgundy. I have a few basses, Hofner, Guild, Rickenbacker and of course Fender. But after living a while with my gold top I ordered the burgundy. this I think is going to be my "GO TO" bass. It played great and is not heavy. My advice, check one out if you can and you'll buy it. You won't be sorry!!!

Something different

I have played bass many years,had a lot of different brands,have always been a fender guy and still am, have a p bass and a j bass, but got the itch for another bass,was looking on line and saw this jack casady model,the great reviews are accurate, for a $ instrument I am very impressed my p bass was $ 10 years ago, this epiphone jc model looks,sounds and plays great right out of the box,would recommend this bass guitar.

Jack Casady 20th Anniversary

I've been using this bass since it first came out in 1998. I have 6 including the anniversary. I have used this bass to record and perform with and reeive many compliments on it's sound and appearance. I still use my Fender P bas J bass and Pawnshop bass VI but this anniversary edition is spectacular to say the lest. It's definitely my go to bass. Came out of the box ready to play with no issues. I am a professional with almost fifty years of experience.Many thanks to Jack Casady for all the excellent work in making a great bass for a very affordable price.

owned one since 2006

This bass is a friggin tone machine. I have owned Fender basses. (I still use the fretless j. bass occasionally). Because of the tone of this Epi Jack it bass become my go to bass and is strung now with La Bella flexible flats, just my preference of bass strings over the round wounds it comes with. Definitely buy the case for it.
