Wow great bass, saw these at another music store but they did not have the D/IV T/RED, only S/BLACK, S/WHITE, D/BLACK.. So I got my D/IV T/RED from SW. The bass has a stained red wood finish, not the gloss of the standard version, looks nice, came in brand new condition, no nicks, dings, nice. The bass is light in weight, real comfy to hold and play, can play for a long time with no strain on your neck which is really a plus. The bass came in ready to play specs but I had to do some small changes to fit my playing style. The neck is great for my hands, real comfy, not to big not to small. The body is very sensitive, resonates well. The strings sound good, nice and bright, no need to change them at this moment. The pickups sound nice with plenty of game to let you know you have boom potential. The control knobs work as they should, the volume has plenty of gain but there is something different at least with the one I bought. There is as with all electrical gear a little hiss, not bad at all but it's there when I turn up the volume it's very light from position two to eight, the it goes away completely at full blast 10, strange, but no hiss at full blast is a good thing. The pickup knob sets L/C/R. The tone knob is a little hissy like all EQs, more with the pickups set to center, less left or right. The boost control is just that, it does it's thing just like it say's with no extra hiss at all, this is really nice, just boom, great. These little things are workable, nice bass guitar, I AM thinking of getting the walnut stained deluxe as well as the five string deluxe. If you are looking for a first, second, third, or any bass, I would check these guitars out, you will not be disappointed. Needs a battery for active electrics. I also bought a Fender Squire Affinity Four string Lake Placid Blue along with the Toby, will be giving a review of that bass as well. One more thing before I go, the help from Zach at SW was great, thank you. Keep on thumping. Love, Truth, Peace, Freedom and Justice. LOVE YA. OUT.

Hot Toby

I picked up the Toby just for the heck of it, plugged it in to the GK410 and was blown away. Couldn't believe the sound---I took it home. This bass plays well, sounds awesome, and is nice to play for 4 hour gig. If there's a downside, the pick-ups are too hot. I use a fishman to get a guitar chord sometimes, got it adjusted so it didn't clip at practice, but when using my wireless at a show, couldn't get it to stop clipping.
