Ernie Ball 2836 Regular Slinky Nickel Wound Electric Bass Guitar Strings - .045-.130 5-string Reviews

.045 - .130 5-string Custom Gauge Electric Bass Guitar Strings, Regular Slinky

Ernie Ball strings have been a top choice for players of all types since the early 1960s, when guitarists came into Ernie Ball's music store, customizing their string gauges to make their axes easier to play. After fruitless attempts to interest major guitar manufacturers in a lighter set of strings, Ernie Ball decided to start making his own. When you open a pack of his strings today, you know you're getting a quality set of strings designed to give you great tone, reliable performance, and long life. You can't go wrong when you string up with Ernie Ball strings!

Ernie Ball: King of the Strings!

By Sweetwater Customer on February 23, 2021

I've tried every bass string brand known to man - GHS, DR, D'Addario, Fender, all of them! And Ernie Ball always comes out on top. They sound great, they feel great, they look great, and from my experience, tend to last longer, too. Would highly recommend!

Great price and service!

By Danielle Higgins from Bartlesville, OK USA on April 6, 2011 Music Background: Beginner

They called me when my product shipped and asked if I had any questions. Plus it was way cheaper to buy it here and have it shipped to me than for me to go to hastings and buy it. Great deal!

Great Strings

By Pat from Richmond,Va USA on December 13, 2012 Music Background: Pro Musician

Ernie Ball strings have been my choice for stings for over 20 years. I have played strings that sounded better but I have never found another brand that is as consistant and such a good value as Ernie Ball. They sound great fresh and when they start to fade I can adjust my attack and still make them sound good. They do not get all chalky, scratchy and tinny sounding as they wear out. I put regular Sinky's on all of my electric guitars and basses and I am confident in my strings on whichever guitar I am playing.

Needed strings for my bongo bass

By Mike from Proctorville on October 27, 2017 Music Background: Plays in orchestra

As I was looking at strings for my bongo. I thought I might as well keep it in the Ernie ball family
These are pretty good. The low B comes out really clear, great mid range, Now I am not much of a slapper but it has a sharp sound on the G string which might appeal to those who do.
I am happy with these. But I would also like to try either Elixer' s or some flats on it.

Dead Strings

By Lewis Bartmess from ATLANTA, GA on March 28, 2024

The last two packs I've ordered from EB have had a dead B string. Dull, dead and muddy, lacks clarity, timber completely separate from the rest of the strings. These strings went on a premium, multi scale instrument with solid b string tension, (35") and yet my 34" 5 string bass has a crisper B. Sweetwater gladly gave me a refund for these so I'll be trying out a higher quality set of strings for a higher quality instrument.
