Warm & Round
I bought the 3 pack of these because I wanted to try them out. I usually use the regular Ernie Ball Power Slinkys and I wanted to see how these differ with the pure nickel wrap.
Basically, the difference between these and regular Slinkys is the E, A, and D strings are wrapped in pure nickel. The bottom G, B, and high E strings are the exact same as a conventional set because they are plain strings and not wound. All of your treble notes come out bright and clear just like with regular Slinkys.
I just put these "Rock n Roll" strings on my strat a couple hours ago and they sound great! The pure nickel wrap is very silky and smooth under my fingers. The tone difference in the wound strings with the pure nickel is a warmer, rounder and more punchy tone. For you guys who usually use regular Slinkys, I'm sure you can relate to when you put on a fresh new set and the E, A, and D strings sort of have a trebley, metallic tone. These pure nickel wrapped strings do not have that, but rather, a round bassy tone. I feel that there is a great over-all balance across all of the strings. I cannot say if these strings last longer or shorter than regular Slinkys because I just put them on today. So far, I am satisfied. I would definitely recommend these for Jazz, Blues, and Rock players.
