Great googly moogly!

Where has this amp been all my life? I've owned a Pink Taco, and the Dirty Shirley Mini, so I knew what I was getting into with Friedman. This is the tone I've been looking for my whole musical life, and its impossible to get a bad sound from this amp... I've tried. Big and beefy, chimey and articulate, smooth and warm... all at once. Back off the guitar volume a bit and you clean right up, even if you've got it set to roar. I've owned Boogies, Marshalls, Soldanos, etc and never have I had an amp half as responsive as any of the Friedmans I've owned. And Dave Friedman himself, as someone else pointed out, answers the emails and any questions you might have about his products. My only problem was deciding between this one and the Small Box, as both sound phenomenal, yet have their own individual characters. For those of you who might be reluctant to buy something online, let me assure you that I have never, ever received better customer service than I have at Sweetwater, and I've bought a couple guitars and a couple amps (as well as accessories) from them now. You will not be disappointed... and if for some reason you are, they'll go far out of their way to make it right.

I'm old enough to have had a few of the old 50 and 100 watt Marshall Plexi amps (also one of the first Mark II 50 watt heads). As I got older I started searching for that sound at a slightly lower volume. I sold my Mark II in 1983 and searched all these years until now. The Dirty Shirley sounds as good, if not better, than my old Mark II. The master volume actually works, unlike the master volume on the Mark II, JCM 800/900. You can get as much overdrive or clean as you want at a decent volume without effecting the tone (I still play at a decent volume. Just not as loud as I use to). I could go on all day about the tone of this amp. You just need to try one. You WILL be hooked. I saw another review about contacting Friedman support and had the same experience. Dave Friedman himself replied to my email. I was just asking him about doing a mod on my sons JCM 800 and he replied in less than an hour that he could do it for us. I've had the amp about 3 months now and just absolutely love it. My Marshall 1974x combo is collecting dust right now.

Friedman.. Great amp, Great Guy!

This amp both sounds & feels incredible! Unlike so many others amp manufactures I've dealt with, Dave has answered all my emails and all of my questions. That's the kind of guy you want to buy amps from. Bill
