Yamaha DXS12 is a Great Sub

I had been contemplating buying this sub for months. I was thinking do I really need/want a $700 sub??? After much thought I decided I didn't want a cheap sub and be disappointed. I ordered it after 5p on a Wed. and had it by 2p the next day (free shipping too). I connected this sub to my Yamaha Stagepas 600 and put on one of my favorite song (Shine on Crazy Diamonds Part 1) and I was totally blown away. The punch, power, clarity, balance with my speakers was amazing. It was shaking stuff on the shelves and rattling the windows. This sub is worth the money spent. I will never say, "man I wish I bought a better sub". This one is it,.... you need to get it!!! Thanks for the great service Patrick Weaver, you always take care of me well, and remember me every call too. Sweetwater is the Best Musical Instrument Vendor out there.

    Best Buy

Time and time again I have been impressed by this little sub. I have friends using 18's with sub envy. It thumps the perfect amount, fits neatly under the table and takes up a small footprint in the van. I have one but have contemplated getting two for bigger gigs. I use 10" yamaha powered tops with this and it is such a clear crips balanced sound. You won't be sorry.

    Yamaha DXS12

This SW is unbelievable for its sound quality, weight, size and output. If you research and compare the specs on this particular sub against any other in this configuration or even its bigger brother the DXS15, you will quickly see why five stars are well deserved. Sweetwater's Theron Jones, my sales engineer has been guiding my equipment purchases for the past few years and once again provided all that I needed to make the right choice for my music requirements.

    DXS Sub Review

As a musician constantly performs and plays on a regular basis, here's my thoughts. This is the most amazing powered sub I have ever heard hands down. I had to keep telling myself this is a 12" sub, because it sure out performs most 15" and 18" subs I've heard. Yamaha hit a grand slam with the DXR/DXS series of powered speakers. Please take it from me, don't waste your money buying cheap powered speakers. This amazing line of powered speakers us all you need.

With the DXR 8", 10", 12", 15", and the DXS 12" and 15", who needs anything else?

    NEXO processing, High-output, Small Size

For the size, this sub has an output that rivals much larger units. The DSP built into the unit is very high-end with Yamaha's NEXO collaboration. The sub looks very clean and is built solidly. A single person could lift and carry it.
I have had no problems since day 1 in terms of reliability.

Ehh, Depends on what you're doing with it

I have two of these, needed a small, more compact set up. Previously, i used one for a drum monitor, and for small dj gig's.. I bought another one thinking that two would hold up in a live band foh situation. No, just no. With about 40 people on the dance floor it couldn't throw a kick and can't have much bass guitar in the foh with these.. the bass players 300w amp was louder, deeper.. I use ONE LS801p usually, I realize its a different monster, but with all the specs and power ratings, I thought two DXS12's would come somewhat close... I was dead wrong.

In summary, great sub for small dj applications, power acoustic acts, fantastic Drum sub.. but for FOH, don't use it. Get EV, or jbl 15's for lighter/compact applications.
