DW DWCPMDD Machined Direct Drive Kick Pedal at a Glance:
  • What do you want from a kick pedal?
  • Direct drive for quick, responsive feel
  • DW quality provides the sound and performance serious drummers demand
What do you want from a kick pedal?

In the design of the DWCPMDD, DW reconsidered the role of the bass drum pedal in the kit. What do you want from your pedal? Fluidity, first of all - you want it to be an extension of your body, your mind - or preferably, your subconscious! As a driver of the music, it needs to be ultra-responsive, and the direct-drive DWCPMDD certainly is that. Whether you're feathering kicks in your jazz combo or driving a djent juggernaut, the DWCPMDD can ace the gig. We realize that kick pedals are highly personal, but the DWCPMDD is so outstanding, it deserves your serious consideration.

Direct drive for quick, responsive feel

Direct-drive pedals have a solid linkage between the footboard and beater assembly, which obviates the need for a traditional cam. This eliminates the slight lag time that can occur with a chain- or strap-drive model, giving you a quick, responsive feel that's ideal for any musical style, and particularly appreciated by fleet-footed metal drummers. The smooth surface of the DWCPMDD's perforated solid-aluminum, split footboard is perfect if you're a drummer who rocks a kick drum technique like Dave Weckl's, sliding your foot forward to play double and triple strokes.

DW quality provides the sound and performance serious drummers demand

For over 30 years, DW has made some of the most revered drums, pedals, stands, and other drum hardware out there. It all began with an innovative adjustable trap-case seat. Not only was this the first of DW's many breakthrough hardware designs, but it showed the world that they really understand what drumming is all about. On top of that, DW craftsmanship has more than set the bar for drum makers everywhere. Discover this commitment to quality for yourself in every drum and piece of DW hardware you buy.

From anxious to big smile!

I haven't played a direct drive pedal since the old Speed King days! So dropping this amount of money in this pedal was scary! I was shooting blind too as The Guitar Center, 37 miles from my small town didn't have one nor the Drum Center....All I wanted was to try it to decide if it was worth the investment. I played a DW 9000 and really was happy with it....but at my age I'm always looking for ways to stay on the same level where I used to be in my younger days. One morning I woke up and as I got my caffeine buzz going...ordered a double pedal while I was feeling good....Well almost immediately buyers remorse set in! What kind of fool am I? They have already come out with the chain driven version so drummers must not like it....although I always did like the direct drive pedals back in the day.....I think..but with my fading memory... maybe it was just so long ago I just think I did!!! Well....lucky for me it came in pretty quickly so I didn't have to agonize too long...It looked great...from the bag it came in to the shinny footboards...but it was time for the acid test! So I took it downstairs....replaced my DW 9000 double pedal and......MY WORD! I really did LIKE the direct drive! My memory did serve me well. Guys! (and Gals) This pedal is amazing! I realized I had a big smile on my face while only playing for a few minutes with the factory settings! It has more adjustments than you can imagine....and I would suggest trying them all before you make up you final opinion. They are all very well thought out as well.....not like a screen door on a submarine, these all make very good sense! I love my pedal.....One of the better decisions I've made buying drum equiptment.....but hey, It's DW! I knew I couldn't stray too far off base....but this is a home run! Thanks guys!

500 dollars?

500 dollars for a bass drum pedal is a lot of dough.I am not a pro so I kept asking myself as good as this pedal looks do I really need it? 500 will buy another snare drum or nice B20 cymbal. The pedal I have now needed to be replaced so after much soul-searching I went ahead and bought this pedal. One word WOW!! this is so smooth and well made light yet tough. This is my first direct drives I am still getting used to the feel of it.This should last for a long time. 500 dollars? If it is possible I would say YES!!

John Bonham is smilling!

This pedal is flat-out the best ever! Ultra sensitive... built of the highest quality... this is like something "The Terminator" would play with. This looks like something I would find at the local SpaceX facility! Great job DW... John Bonham is smiling!

Faster than a Speeding Bullet,

The is a magnificent Direct Drive Pedal, but you need to spend time and learn the adjustments while you spend a little more time getting use to the feel. I've been a Drummer for so long and used so many different pedals that it's hard to decide to even bother making any changes in this stage in life as a drummer, but as you grow older your always looking for ways to keep up your ability in which I decided to give this a go.First off this pedal as expected is made very well, and of course it's very striking in appearance but what makes it really sizzle is the fact your adjustments are so numerous. I would advise any drummer if your budget will handle the almighty asking price to invest in yourself and just buy it. You can pull off some quick triplets almost effortlessly but even if your skill level is lacking in some areas you or even your a seasoned Pro you will be amazed just how quick this pedal reacts.
