Pricey but GREAT!
I have been talking myself out of buying one of these for a few years because of the price and because I did really like my former pedal. As the wear and tear on my former pedal let me know it was time to start thinking about a new one, I finally decided to buy the DW 9000 XF (XF=long board... why would you want to limit your foot surface and possible technique options, but I rant... :D). Ok I still think it is pricey, but absolutely love this pedal. Smooth and powerful... My doubles and triples have never been as articulate (and I always thought they were good). I guess if I had to find a fault, it would be nice of the tension spring adjustment was more accessible while playing... Like a Yamaha FP9 without stealing their patent. Minor irritation at its worse at all and YES, even with the price tag, I would buy this same pedal if mine were lost or stolen.
Great Pedal pricey though
It's a great pedal. Very smooth. I'm no DW fan but their pedals and stands are good quality. Not worth the money in my mind.
Love it !
I didn't think I'd look into it til I started to feel attractive to it. So far one of the best pedal I've ever gotten along with tama speed cobra.
XF!!!
They should make all pedals this size. Suits my playing style perfect. Right out the box ( popular setting ) didn’t have to change a thing. Best pedal I’ve ever owned.
DW 9000
Needed a new right foot. The old one did not stay, no matter the adjustment, in contact with the board when needing playing heel up.
The DW 9000, out of the box did. A few minor adjustments later and it is delivering beyond my expectations.
Purchase Of DW 9000 Foot Pedal XF
Great customer service. Excellent product. Hope to buy from you in the future.
The Greatest
I've played them all. Eliminator, Demon Drive, Irom Cobra, Speed Cobra, 5000, Axis, whatever. This is the only pedal that has truly enabled me to do speedy yet powerful footwork that i could not do on other pedals. Take it out if the box. Set it up. And it makes you a better kick drum player. That is the truth. Far and away the only pedal that truly blew me away.
The right pedal
This pedal is the one to use for heel down style ! It transfers the impulse perfectly and easily !!
Awesome Pedal!
I've always played the dw 5000 pedals and have owned other brands too and the 5000's were always my favorite, but this 9000 pedal with the extended footboard is the best pedal ever! DW is the best ever! And Brock is an amazing guy to work with.
Great pedal
First of all, this is a DW 9000 series product, so you know you're going to get the best craftsmanship out there. When I took it out of the box it felt like a $300 piece of equipment. Everything is very solid, heavy, and the beauty of the design is fantastic.
As far as playing, I have only played it twice so far. Being in an apartment doesn't afford me the luxury of practicing, but this has been a great pedal when I've played on my drum set. It's almost too easy. I'm still in the process of training my foot to behave differently since I'm coming off a mid-level pedal that was about 6 years old.
I was torn to get the standard model or the extended footboard model. After exchanging a few emails with a DW customer service person (who had played both pedals), I opted for the extended footboard model. I have size 12-13 feet so it was for both size and the slightly bigger sweetspot (according to the DW rep).
Overall, I am sure I will enjoy many performances with this pedal. I'm happy with the decision. If you're torn between what size footboard to get, go with your instinct. If you've played high quality DW pedals for a while, maybe you'll be more comfortable with the standard model. If you came from something else or have big feet, give this pedal a try. You can't go wrong with either.
