An Incredibly Innovative and Versatile Bass Amp!

The dUg Pinnick signature Ultra Bass 1000 bass amplifier head could have only come from the minds of the King's X frontman and Tech 21. As the creator of revolutionary products such as the SansAmp analog electric guitar amplifier modeler, Tech 21 has never been afraid to try new things. Sweetwater bassists know how good that is, because a new thing is what you get with the dUg Ultra Bass. Designed to cram Pinnick's distorted electric guitar amp and a clean bass amp tone into one usable package, Tech 21 delivers with the dUg signature Ultra Bass 1000 bass amplifier head.

Tech 21 dUg Pinnick Signature Ultra Bass 1000 Bass Amp at a Glance:
  • Two separately voiced footswitchable channels for blending your perfect tone
  • SansAmp line-out to send a full frequency signal to the soundboard without compromise
  • 1000 watts at 4 ohms so you're never left wanting more from your bass amp
Two separately voiced footswitchable channels for blending your perfect tone

If anything can be said for King's X's dUG Pinnick it's that when he picks up a bass guitar, you know it! Having one of the most identifiable bass tones in rock 'n' roll, dUg has always had to rely on a combination of a distorted electric guitar amp and a separate bass amp for the perfect blend of clean and dirty. Not anymore! You (and dUg) can now get that huge bulldozing sound in one convenient package. The dUg Ultra Bass 1000 lets you blend two independent channels for the sound in your head: one for distorted higher frequencies, and one for the clean low end you need.

SansAmp line-out to send a full-frequency signal to the soundboard without compromise

Why go through all the trouble fine-tuning your tone just to have a sound person take an uneffected line-out from your bass amp? You can stand your ground with the dUg Ultra Bass 1000. At the back of this rock 'n' roll machine is a Tech 21 SansAmp line output, so the house gets the exact tone that you're enjoying onstage. Now you can be sure that the tone moving the bodies and banging the heads out front rocks just as hard as the tone that's propelling your playing forward.

1000 watts at 4 ohms so you're never left wanting more from your bass amp

What good is great tone if you can never hear yourself over the din of a loud band? No good, that's what. Artist dUg Pinnick may know that better than anyone. That's why you get a huge 1000 watts of power pushing your sound to the very back of the venue. Be able to hear every nuance of your playing and tone clearly and dynamically whether jamming at home or crushing it on massive stages around the world. Just be sure and tell your drummer that doesn't mean he should play even louder.

Tech 21 dUg Pinnick Signature Ultra Bass 1000 Bass Amp Features:
  • 2 blendable and footswitchable channels offer full, agressive, and driven sounds
  • SansAmp line output to ensure the house is hearing the same tone you are
  • 1000 watts at 4 ohms gets you above the noise
  • Tuner out with footswitchable mute for silent tuning
  • Rackmountable to integrate with the rest of your rack gear easily
Find your signature tone with the dUg Pinnick Ultra Bass 1000 bass amplifier!

dUg Pinnick Ultra Bass 1000

This is not comparable to any other bass amp I have used. I am replacing a Ampeg SVT 4 Pro that has performed flawlessly for close to 15 years. I am a huge King's X/ dUg fan and have always tried to deconstruct his tone, talked with him, and have many photos of his gear and eq settings over the years. Initially after receiving my head from Sweetwater (I got the last one they had in stock!) I hooked it up to my Hartke Hydrive 410 and 115 cabs and started with suggested manual settings. I am running a Boss GT-10B Bass Processor in front of the amp for chorus, doubler, delays, and boost type effects. The first two things that hit me were the overall weight of the unit is unbelievably light and the compression on the low channel behaves like no other compressor I have fooled around with. On the dUg tone settings a note lightly played will sustain indefinitely. At first try the top channel is wildly distorted and different than what I am used to but the effect of both channels is freaking huge! Even dead strings suddenly have the nice harmonic overtones and clarity I personally can't live without. The quality of the craftsmanship of the head seems very well made like other Tech 21 products. Also this head seems twice as loud as my Ampeg and that is saying quite a bit! I rarely turn the master volume up past 3 with the channel volumes below 5! This is a great head for rock/heavy music. You can dial in a decent clean tone too but that is not really what this specializes in. The dUg type tones seem to really sit in the mix of a live rock band in a different and "larger" way to me. If you like Squire/ Pinnick/Geddy Lee/ John Entwistle/ Billy Sheehan type tones this is the best and lightest weight solution out there... Very unique and exciting amp! Thanks Tech 21 and Sweetwater! Love it!

May the groove be with you

Outstanding amp that delivers as advertised, at least so far. Picked up the amp this past weekend from Sweetwater, and promptly melted faces at band practice the next day. The manual will show you how to set the amp for dUg's sound, but it can do a lot more than that, and really has a nice wide clean low-end channel. While this amp certainly wasn't cheap, I think it was worth the money, especially if you are a bass player that marvels at Mr. Pinnick's bass tone. At the very least you can guilt your band-mates into adding a King's X song or two to the set-list, right?

Ampeg Killer!!!

While I understand the price is a little steep, this amp kinda pays for itself. There's so many useable tones for all kinds of music!!! Whether its super distorted grind like dug or some Rocco esque thump this amp delivers in spades. Take it from a broke guy that slaved for three months to make the payments on time, its worth it!!!!
