    Roland V-Drums Tutor DT-1

AMAZING..............I purchased a Roland TD-1K V-Drums Kit and the Roland V-Drums Tutor DT-1 software for it. I don't think there is a better way to learn the drums. From knowing nothing to being and intermediate drummer in a very short time. I hope Roland would consider putting out a program like this for the Guitar and Keyboard. Thousands of dollars of lessons and learning for $60. A must have for all Roland V-Drums Users.

    Flawless Teaching and Improvement Tool

I never leave reviews for products. If I do, its because I am so pleased that I feel indebted and obligated. First off, Sweetwater, free warrantys plus when the product arrived i got the arrival email from a rep before I even knew the product was waiting outside my door. Great service every time. On to Roland. I have only owned a few Roland products but each one has been so valuable. I have had the DT=1 tutor for almost a week and I have already improved my timing and playing skill. The pros are too many but here are a few, easy short cut keys for super easy navigation while practicing, super easy program to learn, along with a/b markers and the minus drum and drum only feature and repeat function....there really is no limit to how you can choose to learn. You can even choose to isolate which drums you want to play until you are ready to add more to any particular song or exercise you are working on. Im a drum programmer, my drum playing has been limited to very little finger drumming, a day or two of actual drumming and beating on tables and walls my whole life. So i have an advantage of always keeping a beat. however this program works so well that I don't doubt that people way worse than me at drumming and the millions who are better than me will benefit from this program. its worth hundreds of dollars being that it almost completely replaces a drum teacher and allows one to work at their own pace. however i would suggest one use a tutor and a teacher if you are really new but if not its not the end of the world. the cons are few. the gui won't allow me to expand it across my whole computer screen and the songs are really cheesy. i love the cheesy songs but for those that tire of them you can look on line for popular songs that have midi files .

Great tool for learning, practice and improving

I use the musical notation mode. I plug in my TD-15 with USB cable and everything just works. Humbling to see when and where your timing is off. I'm a new drummer and its really helping me improve. I love that you can slow it down until you get it and gradually speed up. The A/B looping is great for practicing certain song sections you need to work on. You can get some more exercises and songs from Roland's site, search for DT-HD1 downloads.

Tutor DT-1 meets all my expectations

This software does exactly what I needed for groove development, reading and time practice on my TD-20 kit. Well worth the price. Thanks Roland.

    excellent for practice

Works really well with my old TD-8. I like the the fact it measures your hits, misses and near misses. I find it fun and excellent for practice and it does not scold when you miss. I highly recommend this for beginners and intermediate drummers.

    Nice practice tool

The best features of this software for me are the ability to drag and drop any .mid (standard midi file) into the window and instantly play along. The notes are represented on sheet music or in a rolling "Rock Band" style as you play. That being said, the "Rock Band" visual is by far my favorite feature since I cannot read sheet music (nor care to learn) and I have played the game "Rock Band" for many years with my kids.

The sample patterns/songs that come with the software are not the greatest, and anything above one star rating will require actual skill to play. So it's great that you can play any standard midi file (easily found on the internet).

A great add-on tool for the inspiring drummer.
