Must have

I love the 6 way switch. I have it for a DSL40cr

Best to have! For a Marshall Combo amp

Though the Marshall DSL40 combo amp comes with a 2 post footswitch, you really need to get this 6 post switch! I don't know how they do it but using the included 1/4" Jack cable, this switch changes channels, clean/crunch OD1/OD2, 2 diff reverbs, turns effects loop on/off, switches between 2 Master volumes! Amazing engineering! Built to last too. The included cable is long enough to set up far enough away to appreciate the amp's sound. I'm really glad this is in my rig.

Transforms the DSL experience

I just purchased a DSL100HR and I knew when I did that this switcher was going to be part of the equation because I owned one before with a DSL40 in the past, and I remembered how it made that little combo WAY better than any of the competition. I just didn't realize when I bought the head that these were being so easily had over here in the US as they are now. It wasn't but a year ago, if that, that if you wanted one of these you had to find it at some shop across the big water and hope they would ship it, or hope you could get lucky on Craigslist or Ebay, which was difficult because people who buy these are those who like their DSLs and JVMs and aren't letting go of them OR these switches, and if you did find one, it would cost you at least $50 more used than it does here brand new. So crazy. If I had known, I would have ordered it the same day I ordered my DSL100HR and not had to wait a week to blow it's potential in a jam session wide open! If you are just sitting right in front of your amp you don't NEED this, but even then, it's still worth it all day long. And as far as "does it help in live situations?"... This thing opens the entire list of the DSL's capabilities up, in a HANDS FREE format! That little 2 button footswitch Marshall sends with the DSLs is almost a joke. But you have to understand, it's part of how they keep the DSL at a more affordable price point, and eventually many of the people who use a DSL will end up using an effects unit, or much larger switcher with MIDI capabilities to pair up with the amp, so those are customers who may purchase something different if they had to pay an added $ for a DSL because it included this 6 button switcher that they would never use anyway. The DSL is an amazing amp for countless reasons, number one being it's unmistakable Marshall tone. The next best part is the price, and the fact that its pricing is reasonable enough that it allows that great tube tone to be had by working class folk the world over, just the same as those who may be more wealthy. It means tube amps no longer have to be reserved for individuals with 6 figure salaries, not even 100 watt half stack models. Anyone who's tone is that important to them and has played long enough to realize that an amp is at least 80% of your tone (FAR more than ANY other single factor in all your gear) is capable of putting money aside to a point where a DSL should be an attainable goal which can be realized in a relatively short period of time. Relative ONLY to just HOW important that good tone is to them. If I could have gotten a brand new Marshall half stack for $1300 when I was a kid, I would have had one when I was 15, and I would've gotten it QUICKLY too, because I wouldn't spend a DIME of my little grocery store bag boy money until I had gotten my hands on this amp AND the 6 button switcher. The switch does everything it is supposed to do, and it does it well. The Bi-color LEDs for each button are great because you never have to wonder what channel you are on, or what mode you are in, or which Master Volume you have active, because its all right there in a nice neat row at your feet in green and red! I also really dig the blank labeling strips, as the switcher controls different things on a DSL than it does on a JVM (and I think its even different from a JVM 50 to a JVM 100 too) and the owner can just write the button functions on there so that they coincide with whichever amp they own. Or, if you are like me, and like to name you're channels and modes (i.e.- Ch1-Clean=Eric, Ch1-Crunch=Jimmy, Ch2 OD1-Angus..... and so on), you can do that too, I actually taped strips to mine so that I can remove them if I want to change names. The switcher is awesome even if you are just a Ch1 Clean IS Ch1 Clean kinda guy (or girl) and have no interest in filling in the blanks on the scribble strips, because it's also extremely durable. You can tell as soon as you lift it from its packaging that it is a quality piece of kit, just by the weight of it in your hands. All metal housing and metal switches means your $ was well spent and that the switcher is gonna do thousands of switch-a-roos and keep you going from clean to Jimmy for as long as you own it probably! Lastly, it says "Marshall" in those big awesome cursive letters in white, and the rest of it is black, so it matches your rig, and these amps are killer on their own, but every piece you add just makes them more and more badass looking, so if you've got a head, sweet. A head and cab, sweeter. But if you've got the head the cab and the switcher too, it just adds a bit off extra cool to the already classic Marshall vibe. While looks don't equal good tone, this rig has got them both in spades, and I for one am a huge fan of the fact that Marshall made this more affordable rig just as attractive as the other Made in England models. Even if you don't play a Marshall, there is NO denying the fact that Marshall IS to this day, THE quintessential rock n roll amplifier, and I love owning and playing, and in a way even being a part of rock n roll history. Marshall, you NAILED IT with this one!

A must-have!

I recently purchased a DSL40CR (absolutely awesome amp), and this product is a must-have to go along with it. Even though I'm mainly using it in the studio, it's super convenient rather than having to lean over my line-in and effects loop pedalboards in order to access the amp's buttons.

It's a bit pricey, but in my opinion worth every penny. As an added bonus, along with my two boards and Cry Baby wah, I've now officially reached total effects insanity.

WONDERFUL Choices on the fly

This 6 post switch gives more on the fly choices than the 2 post. I wanted to be able to use the effects loop but only when I WANTED it, THIS does it! In addition to changing channels & the Crunch & OD1/OD2 along with switching The Master. But keep in mind the settings remember which Master it used last on a specific channel and Crunch or OD setting! The colors for each post also is the color on the face of the amp, so that helps a bunch - no need to look at the amp face to see which setting you're on. The cord the connects the switch & amp is sufficient for even the biggest stages. Well worth the $$. BIG THANKS to team Sweetwater for their caring! Really appreciate the sweet treat ( bag of candy) and the followup contacts!
Ashton, Thanks for the phone call concerning my other purchase as well ! Top Notch all the WAY!

There are countless "British"-style guitar amplifiers out there, but take it from the lifelong guitarists and tone connoisseurs at Sweetwater, when it comes to Marshall tone, there's nothing like the real thing. We've played them all, from vintage JTM45s and the ultra-cool Plexi reissue to modern handmade masterpieces such as the JVM410. There isn't a model among them we can't recommend with total confidence, and that includes their more affordable models too, like MG, DSL, and Code series amps. Thanks to our tight relationship with Marshall, Sweetwater's always on the cutting edge of their latest designs, custom models, and limited-edition gems. If you want iconic tone from across the pond, you want Marshall, and your Sweetwater Sales Engineer will help you find the perfect one.
