Coated Bass Strings For Extended Life!

Since 1989, DR has been committed to crafting hand made, superb-quality instrument strings. By blending the best of old-fashioned handmade craftsmanship with cutting edge materials or string coatings, DR continues to push the boundaries of the string-making process. That commitment to quality is what has brought countless top-flight bassists and guitarists to string-up with DRs — from U2's Adam Clayton to Phish's Trey Anastasio and everywhere outside and in between. For reliable tone — acoustic or electric — you can rely on the handcrafted strings from DR.

With the DR Extra-Life Black Beauties bass strings, you'll snag the signature crisp tone, clarity, and volume of DR's traditional handmade strings. Yet, you'll get the added bonus of DR's super-thin coating on the plain strings and on the wrap wire, which extends the life of your favorite strings. And, just as the name suggests, DR's Extra-Life Black Beauties sport a stealth-style black coating.

Love these strings.

I adore these strings. It could be confirmation bias because they look so cool, but I feel like the black coating gives a tiny bit more tactile resistance to fingerstyle plucking, which translates to punchier, more articulate playing. That extra millisecond or two of fingers staying on the string, giving more energy to the string, seems to give my sound extra punch and life.

Great success!

I have used GHS coated strings, boomers, DR non-coated, rotosound, and on and on and on... these black beauties are the best. They don't have nearly the same deadening effect on your tone that most coated strings have. The tone stays consistent for weeks instead of days, and it's warm, punchy, and articulate. Plus, the coating gives you a great slick playing surface on the fretboard and reduces nasty string noise. It's a VERY NICE! Number one string in Kazakhstan.

Great for 35

I think I had my last set on for a year or longer before tuning issues. The "affordable" Hartky strings I picked up in an emergency couldn't string through body for E and low B strings, so these are IT for me! Just wish the black coating was permanent. Can't use the occasional pick without losing some color. I get compliments ALL the time just for the way they look on my white Schecter P5. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Great Bass Strings

I love these strings for their clarity and playability. I have been using them for a number of years on several of my basses. Have also turned several bass playing friends on to them and they are nowconverts. Great strings from a great company.

Black Beauties are the Bomb

Installed a set of these babies on my 5-string Cort Curbow bass and they really brought out some heavy, rich bass tones. Plus the surface of these strings is easy on the fingertips of both hands. First night I had them on our band played for a party and everyone commented on the solid bass sounds. They took a little while to stretch and remain in tune, but I'm used to that.
