Protects You From Overloaded Recordings!
TASCAM'S DR-2d is cool in a bunch of ways. Not only is it a high-quality (and affordable) portable recording solution, but it also has a number of tricks up its sleeve aimed to make your recording duties easier. First of all, it has a built-in stereo microphone and a set of effects for shining up your sound. Next up, there's a built-in metronome for perfectly timed recordings, a tuner for perfectly in-tune recordings, plus a built-in speaker so you can hear everything back. The DR-2d records to SD media, by the way, and it comes with a handy 2GB SD card — plus a USB computer connection, so you can immediately connect it to your Mac or PC and transfer your files. Our favorite DR-2d feature on the TASCAM DR-2d though, is the dual record function.
So, what is dual record exactly? In a word, a lifesaver. Basically, you can record the exact same audio to the TASCAM DR-2d at two different input gain levels. That means if your first gain setting accidentally distorts — maybe the guitarist kicked it up too loud in the bridge or the drum levels got too hot — well, you'll have a second version of your recording at a lower level so you don't have to trash the entire take. If you comp the two of them, you'll have a flawless version of the recording, which will definitely put a smile on your face when you capture that impossible-to-recreate moment. Cool, right? We thought so too.
If you're rehearsing your music, you'll appreciate the built-in speaker. You'll also appreciate two more features. You are able to loop the playback, so you can work on a particular part without the recorder always moving ahead. Beyond that, the TASCAM DR-2d lets you slow down audio without changing the pitch — perfect for rehearsing that killer solo until you can nail it at the right tempo. Last, not least, the DR-2d includes a wireless remote control so you can take charge of your features from wherever you need to be — especially great if you're parked in front of a drum kit, a keyboard, or guitar rig... and don't want to make the trek to your perfectly placed TASCAM DR-2d just to start and stop the recording.
All in all, the TASCAM DR-2d is a sweet value. Whether you want to record band practices, capture your lessons, rehearse your favorite band's songs — all three or more — the DR-2d is a great pick.TASCAM DR-2d Portable SD Recorder Features:
