Versatile Distortion, EQ, Compression, and More

The savage bass tones of dUg Pinnick are yours with the Tech 21 DP-3X dUg Pinnick Signature bass distortion pedal. It's essentially a compressed version of his Ultra Bass 1000 Signature head, merging low-end power and punch with top-end bite and grind. And dUg personally beta tested the DP-3X on a European tour — despite having a different backline rig in each venue, he was able to dial in his tone every time. Equipped with versatile distortion, musical EQ, and sweet compression, the Tech 21 DP-3X dUg Pinnick Signature bass distortion pedal can help you find your own signature sound as well.

Built-in tuner, DI, and headphone output

The DP-3X was designed specifically to be as versatile as possible on and off the stage. It can even be used as a practice solution in a hotel room thanks to its headphone output. An XLR direct output allows you to send your tone directly to the PA system.

Tech 21 DP-3X dUg Pinnick Signature Bass Distortion Pedal Features:

  • Based on the Tech 21 Ultra Bass 1000 Signature head
  • All-analog signal path
  • Mix switch engages Drive (drive) and Chunk (upper harmonics), with individual level controls for each
  • Gain button adds more drive and compression
  • 3-band EQ features a mid-shift button to tailor to any bass
  • Built-in tuner, XLR DI output, and headphone output

This thing is a Beast

First I'll start off by saying "I'm not a Bass player", I'm a Drummer- hold the Jokes!
I got this Primarily based off watching every YouTube videos I could find. Dug Pinnick has a tone that is thundering and at first glance you may think this product might be a "One Trick Pony", but You would be seriously wrong. Yes it can definitely garner you some serious loud, thunderous tones but Wow, it took my Roland KC Keyboard amp and made me smile from the second I started making a few minor adjustments. Which by the way. This Product is very well built, each adjustment made you can actually hear the tonal changes as you dial things in. Buy this if you want some Tone options at an affordable price point. You won't regret it.

A versatile Machine

Paired with my Schecter Omen Extreme 4, what could go wrong? The variation in the sound has produced some amazing cleans for the more "Yes" fans, but can also go to some very experimental depths with the distortion and down-tuning. This thing is an absolute power unit for creating a diverse range of sounds through any bass and can provide endless experimentation with setups. Doug Pinnick truly knew what he wanted his pedal to sound like and the raw variations in cleans and metal distortions is the best, especially for the price.

Only have owned for an hour, this pedal is going nowhere!

This thing doesn't just do Dug's tone. It does way way more. It's maybe not the most *Sonically* versatile, meaning that genre range is limited. But this thing can be tweaked for anyone who plays hard rock/Metal.

Onboard tuner is the cherry on top. The compressor whilst maybe not the greatest compressor out there, is easy to use and still sounds pretty solid as long as it's adjusted to your bass.

The Gain and shift knobs are also great to get the right amount of gain and mids.
3 band active EQ is great and the high knob is great to use between clean and dirty.

The distortion channel is really this thing's strong suit and main thing. Multiband distortion sounds so incredible! Leaving your main fundamental clean whilst grinding the high end harmonics to make the bass sound huge.

Oh and it also doubles as a headphone amp, as well as a DI obviously. I use mine in front of my cheap 100$ combo, and it turns it into a super rig!

If you like the sounds of Queensryche, Kings X, Yes, Rush, Metallica, Anthrax, Motorhead, or Cheap trick, this thing is for you.

Great Pedal

Very well made and comes in a metal case not a cardboard box! Classy. Records very well and capable of more than just one sound.

2 Years of Flawless Performance

I've owned this pedal for over 2 years now. I dont like writing reviews on stuff unless I've really had the chance to put it through it's paces. I bought this unit mostly because I loved the idea of all these features in a small package, everything I need, nothing I don't. I've also used sansamps alot over the years so I knew what they can do. Plus I'm a big fan of DP and his tone. At this point, I've used this piece of gear in alot of ways. I've recorded with it alot, have run into into an amp alot, and straight into a p.a. system quite a bit as well. This thing does everything well. It will make a crappy amp sound good and a good amp sound great. It records well. Sounds great with any bass whether it's passive, active, 4 or 5 string, tuned normal or super low (yes it "djents"). It's just great. Even plays well with other pedals. I've run it every way possible. Even into the Return jack of an amp. Sounds great no matter how its integrated into your signal chain. The drive is tasty. All the controls are very responsive. This thing just has the tone man. Very versatile. I play alot of different styles and this will do them all exceptionally well. The DI is great, the tuner is fast and easy to read and use. The comp is simple but gives it a nice squeeze. I can't say enough good about it. That's my feedback. Buy one. Whatever kinda stuff you play, you'll be able to get what you want out of this.
