The Denon DN-500R is a rackmount solid state recorder that's ideal for any audio installation that needs professional, reliable recording. The DN-500R is perfect for crucial recordings, with a dual record mode for redundancy and a relay record mode that makes sure your recording doesn't stop when your storage media fills up. When your installation calls for flexible, reliable audio recording, turn to the Denon DN-500R.

Denon DN-500R Rackmount Audio Recorder at a Glance:
  • Dual record mode creates two identical files simultaneously
  • Relay record mode lets you capture longer material
  • Automate regular activities with Timer Recording/Playback
Dual record mode creates two identical files simultaneously

The Denon DN-500R sports a dual record mode that records to both types of media (SD/SDHC and USB) at the same time. Not only does this give you a redundant backup of crucial recordings, it's perfect for giving someone a copy of the recording immediately. After recording, just give them the SD card or USB drive, you keep the other one, and you've saved time you would have spent copying over the recording for them.

Relay record mode lets you capture longer material

The relay record mode on the DN-500R lets you get the most out of your storage media. If you run out of storage on your SD card the DN-500R will seamlessly switch over to USB to continue recording, and vice versa.

Automate regular activities with Timer Recording/Playback

Perhaps you record audio at regular intervals, or need to play the same music every morning. Whatever setting you're using the DN-500R in, you'll appreciate its automated recording/playback. Save up to 30 of your own recording/playback schedules, and the DN-500R will take care of the rest.

Denon DN-500R Rackmount Audio Recorder Features:
  • 24-bit/96kHz solid state recorder with support for SD/SDHC and USB
  • Dual record feature automatically records a redundant copy of your audio
  • Relay record mode automatically switches to the other media type when one becomes full

We wanted the best

I did some research new SD-USB recorders and Denon Professional came up with more pros than cons. Gave it a shot and what the website said is what we got. The balanced and unbalanced XLR / RCA / AES/EBU inputs made for an easy fit and recording to SD or USB is great for grab and go. I record the services at our church every week with and have got a lot of great feedback since sharing these recordings.

Excellent gear

I was concerned that reading a small display would be a deal breaker but, it was easy to read. This was the only unit I could find that had the features I was looking for and they all function as advertised. The recordings sound the same as the input and build quality seems solid. The only feature missing to make this perfect for my application is a sleep timer. This is a quality unit and what we have come to expect from Denon. Tip: Make sure you have one of the accepted formats on your SD card or USB device.

Lots of great features, good value, would recommend to others. As with most all rack mounted devices with a display, some data is displayed to close to the top of the window when unit is mounted low in the rack without bending way down to see what's at the top of the display.

True Dat

I had never seen or read a review on this unit.I remember drooling over it for a while though.I had also looked at other models for around the same price and specs including one with DSD.Because I already have several preamps with conversion I decided to go with the one that didnt have any and thats the Denon DN-500 r.Received mine again in record time internationally from my number one sales engineer Dennis Konicki.I cant give you the recording side of things just yet but I can tell a little about the unit and its playback. It is so easy to operate. Once putting in a SD card and format, date and time you are good to go.I put in another SD card of my own material that was recorded in high end studios and it sounded pretty good to me.Navigation and menus were pretty easy also.I can now understand why this has been flying off the shelves.Great price and superb quality construction and finish. This could be a recording engineers best kept secret.Time allowing I am going to send some of my high end preamps and compressors into it over the weekend and I'll get back soon with a mini recording review.Cheers
