I love it

By Until Dawn from Fond du lac, Wi on March 27, 2023

This is a a small lighting console, but it is powerful. The selling point for me was that it does 32 channels per fixture. It's easy to a degree to program. I am happy. Thanks Randy P.

Works fine...

Surprises me more every time I use it

This thing does the job. Period. Build quality is solid.
I hate the joystick, but that's the only thing. It deserves 5 stars because it is everything I expected it to be and some!

Exactly what I needed

By Sweetwater Customer on May 21, 2019

I had a smaller, 4 channel controller. I started looking into buying a USB to XLR (DMX) dongle, but to get a good one compatible with good software was going to cost a bunch. Plus, I'd be using another laptop. I already have one for mixing, I didn't want to buy a second. YMMV, but I mix from stage. This controller was way cheaper than the "good" dongle and laptop setup! I'm able to control my lights and panels in 12 and 27 channel modes and do things I couldn't do before with them. I haven't used the joystick yet, but I will be set when I buy some moving lights. Easy to program, and now I can just start a scene and let it run. I have the capability to run many more lights and set many more scenes than I'll probably ever need- and that's a good thing! I wish I would have bought this one the first time around.

Works great!

This is our first dmx light operator. It works great with all of our dmx lights. 32 channels for 12 different fixtures(lights) we had 7 wash lights setup in master/slave mode (which only takes up 1 fixture) and an FX light at the end of the run. We are using 7 different scenes and are able to control each light to its full potential with this operator. Also had over 100 ft of dmx cable ran with no signal issues.

Great for live use via midi

By Phil from Texas on November 22, 2016

I picked up the ADJ DMX Operator 384 recently after a lot of research to fully DMX control two Chauvet Gigbar LT units at live shows. My main reason for choosing this over the Chauvet Obey 70 (which has similar specs) is the way in which it handles midi input. To control it from a midi foot controller, you need one that can send midi note information. I'm using a Behringer FCB-1010.
I can use a midi note to select a bank (1-30) and then a scene (1-8). That adds more versatility than using the Chauvet which can just select single scenes from a midi note. The big difference was that I can turn Sound Active and Auto mode on and off with midi signals as well. Just send it an audio line from the mixer and, when you hit sound active, it will scroll through the currently selected bank in response to sound input. Turn sound active off and go back to selecting individual scenes.
The upshot of all this is... after a lot of scene programming... I can run a synced light show for a live band with my feet while playing bass. No need to pay a lighting guy. This is truly the only controller I know of in this price range that gives you this much live midi control for the price. I looked at everything under $. Highly recommended.

Nice for the Price

I've used this for my current lighting setup a handful of times now and it works pretty well! Everything works smoothly and I really like how sturdy it feels compared to smaller/cheaper controllers. There are nicer options out there, but for this price range this is a great controller!

Good product

By David from MICHIGAN on April 30, 2017

Good product, everything works as it should. My only gripe is there is no documentation (that I've found after months of looking) that explains the more complex midi functions. Some info is provided but not nearly enough, I think people would be a lot more excited about this product if they could see the more complex functions and applications. If only ADJ would provide better videos and perhaps a list of compatible software to save people lots of trial and error. Your DAW can run your whole light show, pretty cool if you can figure it out.
