Platinum sound as soon as you hit record

Talk to any engineer who's worked on a vintage console - if you've got the right mics in front of the sources, just bring up the faders and your sound is mostly there. That's what you get with the Heritage Audio DMA73. Think big, punchy, vibrant sound that seems to leap from your speakers. It's the sound that created countless hit albums, and you've got it on tap with the DMA73 preamp.

Built to original specs for a true vintage re-creation

In fact, the only technical difference between the Heritage Audio DMA73 and an original module is the size. Inside, you'll find the same transformers, dual-concentric switches, pushbuttons, and even the same PCB cards. So don't think the DMA73 is another vintage emulation or copycat.

Top-notch performance from Class A preamp circuitry

The DMA73 packs 80dB of gain in its Class A mic preamp, perfect for ribbon mics and low-output dynamics. The design is also single ended, 2N3055 driven, and provides high headroom. As a result, the sound is full, punchy, and gets incredibly vibrant when you push your signal levels.

Super nice

I'm not sure why there's barely any reviews on this pre virtually anywhere. After owning this pre for over a year now I've decided to write a review. This preamp is sick! Sounds very very pleasing and rich. Lots of color when using different gain options. Generally I just leave the output all the way up and adjust the gain accordingly. Right now I'm recording an amazing female pop/Rnb singer from season 8 of NBC's 'The Voice' and I couldn't be more pleased.

One of the better Preamps!

Well it didn't take me too long to finally realize how much potential this preamp has. Its absolutely full of headroom beyond anything I would need. It sounds great on vocals, bass DI, mic'ing an amp, and a plethora of others. Between AMS Neve, BAE and Heritage Audio (the top three 1073 clones) I would choose Heritage Audio over BAE or AMS Neve (never go with AMS!). I'm very happy with the results of this preamp. Does it really have a 1073 flavor? Well yes and no. I mean it certainly is not just a generic box or preamp. But at the same time it really has a warmth and color that is not what you'd think of with a 1073. I suppose its pretty unique unto itself. Overall, this would be one of the higher end preamps that you should seriously consider along with Avalon, API, and some others.

Great Pre!

Had it since NOV 2014. Sounds like "money" when used properly. No regrets on this purchase so far. Nice features with solid construction. It's been a blast working with Carson McClain getting the best gear in the world.

The Best

There is a reason the 1073 preamp is so praised....it sounds fantastic on everything! Once I put this in my studio my other pres started collecting dust. Recording one track with it is nice. You will notice the subtle color and thickness the circuit adds. But get a whole tune down with these and that's where the magic happens! Another great feature on this pre is the seperate line ins on the back. Send your final mix into it and mess with the input and output gain to get a even more analog mojo happening! Lot's of options, and top shelf sound. What more could you ask for???

Glad I bought this

I searched far and wide in my hunt for a 73 clone and read allot of great reviews on this one inperticular so I decided to pony up and I'm glad I did! If your searching for that slassic neve sound look no further! All I can say is other pres in my arsenal all fall short to this one. Whether I'm Micing the source, using it as DI, or running a stereo mix through it I can't help but smile and think that's how they did it!
