    Great Sounding & Versatile PA!

I picked up a DLM8 as a personal guitar/vocal monitor and/or main for practices and small gigs, and it's GREAT for that, but what actually inspired me to write this review is being "stuck" over the weekend with needing to provide a PA rig for karaoke at a house party when it hit me... I've got the whole rig right here! Channel 1 for mic and channel 2 for music (friend's "karaoke laptop" via 1/8"-RCA cable). Add DLM's individual channel reverb and EQ - and the holy grail of a built-in feedback eliminator - and the whole "rig" was totally set-it-and-forget-it. Once I got it set up (two minutes later), the party went on into the wee hours, and one "tiny" DLM was more than enough to fill the room, with plenty of headroom left over. Great job, Mackie! Now I'm an unwilling karaoke DJ too!

    Compact and versatile

This speaker is really great! First of all I love the size of this thing. Simply can put these in the back of your trunk and not have to play tetris when loading in. I do a lot of weddings where discreet PA is important. Most of my clients don't want to see huge speakers covering their cake or blocking view from guest and I simply brought these speakers for its size and cosmetic reasons. However, this speaker has many features not found such as a digital display, speaker settings, EFX, feedback destroyer, delay stacking which can cost lots of money if brought separately. I have done weddings of up to 300 guest... but I have used these with two mackie dlm subs and they are just enough. If you are looking to bring the house down... these are not your speakers... obviously the size is a given even with the 2,000 as advertised. They do sound nice and clear... but the low end will not do much. Overall, I love these speakers and have grown to appreciate all its uses such as ceremonies, back up, monitors, and fill in.

    Perfect monitor or solo rig

My church just got three DLM8 along with a full DLM system and we mostly use the DLM8s for stage monitors. Everything cuts through really nicely and the feedback eliminator was a lifesaver since I do most of the mixing, but don't have tons of experience. Learning as I go...

We also use them for some singer/songwriter events and don't even bring along a mixer anymore. The DLM8 has all the connections and mixing ability needed.

    Mackie DLM8s Shine!

I just picked up a couple DLM8s, primarily for rehearsals (with a mixer), but also for small coffee house gigs (using just the built-in digital mixer on the back). They are fantastic.

So compact and lightweight, they are easy to mount tripod stands. Fire 'em up and they are super loud and the sound quality is unreal. I've been using them for vocals, keys and acoustic guitars and could not be happier - Powerful, compact, easy. Mackie does it again.
