Killer tonewood combo balances rich sound with serious sustain

As with any bass guitar, the choice of tonewoods Schecter used has a huge impact on both the sound and feel of the Diamond-J. To keep this beast of an instrument light enough to play for hours yet retain resonance, Schecter selected alder for the body and maple for the neck. This combination gives the Diamond-J plenty of punch, without limiting the low-end impact you can expect from this bass. Add to that a naturally conditioned rosewood fingerboard, and you've got killer sound and feel. Take it from the Sweetwater crew - the Diamond-J will give you years of great performance.

Customized bridge adds sustain and vintage looks

One of the great things in general about Schecter's more affordable basses is the hardware. To deliver the performance and stability serious bassists demand, Schecter uses a customized Wilkinson WBBC bridge. The WBBC bridge gives you the stability you need plus a massive range of intonation with its string-thru-body design providing incredible string resonance and massive sustain along with adding to the bass' vintage appeal.

Electronics that let you dial in the perfect tone

The Diamond-J Plus tone starts with Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound J SJ5-3 pickups in the bridge and neck. Thanks in part to chunky quarter-inch pole pieces and powerful windings, the SJ5-3 pickups produce a killer amount of output while maintaining clarity for tons of attack. A 4-way rotary switch that gives you series, parallel, and singular pickup options, a master volume push/pull phase switch, and an 18-volt, 2-Band active EQ give you a vast array of tone-defining power.

Schecter Diamond-J Plus Left-handed 5-string Bass Guitar Features:
  • 6-bolt bolt-on neck joint for strong neck/body bond
  • Reshaped neck joint gives you smoother access to higher frets
  • Carbon fiber reinforcement rods strengthen neck relief to prevent shifting
  • 12" fretboard radius adds modern roundness to the feel
  • Wilkinson WBBC bridge customized with a string-thru-body design
  • Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound J SJ5-3 pickups
  • Metal knurled knobs and Grover tuners offer great looks and superior control

Incredible feel and playability

Bought this after looking for a decent 5 string lefty Jazz bass. It was set up quite well just out of the box; I only had to raise the strings slightly from the bridge to get rid of some buzzing. This bass sits in my hands so comfortably, the neck is incredibly smooth and the frets are thin, making it easy to produce a full tone without having to press hard. It is a light bass, and barely puts any weight on my shoulder. It sounds more like a typical Schecter bass more than the other Jazz basses out there however, but still has a variety of tones that are great.
