.......Totally Narly set dude, my brother has the more expensive Performance set and we mix the two he wants to trade snare drums ....all of the designer set seem to have a little higher pitch tone so when we added them in with the performance set it gave a sound variance....really perfect for 4 row rack toms.

This set sounds amazing, the stock tom heads are not great, but still usable. It comes with some mufflers for the bass drum, and the snare head is great. Overall great drums for the money.

So I'd first like to thank the good people at Sweetwater for always giving me great costumer service. Now about my DW designer series. This drumset has exceeded my expectations. I've always wanted a Drum workshop set and thanks the payment plan offered by Sweetwater, I finally got it. The tones on this Drumset are beautiful. I changed out my heads with some Remo pinstripes and Lord Have Mercy, it is glorious thing! I look forward to getting them all mic'd up for an upcoming studio session. I know I going to blown away. The designer series is definitely worth investing in . Go get you one! You won't regret it.

Great drumset. Purchased it for my studio, exceptional tone and very high quality finish. Toms really pack a punch and sound excellent once tuned properly and with new heads (the heads they come with aren't great.) great deal, the Velcro pillows are pretty cool. Bass drum really hits. Highly recommend this kit for medium players or for recording. It's not an entry level kit, more of an entry into the pro realm.

From the very first time I saw this beautiful tobacco burst finish, I had to give them a try. I got the set through Sweetwater.The drums sounded good with the stock heads, but I tried Evans G2 clear batters on the toms, and WOW!!!! I was blown away! Very deep, and cutting in sound! Very comparable to the Collectors series. The snare is phenomenal! You can do very nice rim shots on this snare. The snare comes with a Remo reversed power dot head, which sounds great, so I didnt change that one. You cant go wrong with The North American rock hard maple shells. The lacquer finish,and chrome hardware looks so good under stage lights! I used an Evans Emad 2 on the bass, super loud, and punchy! I also bought the DW3000 hardware to go with this set. Bottom line, if you are looking for great looking, great sounding affordable DW drums, check out the Design series. Give Ryan at Sweetwater a call! You will not be disappointed!

I was debating on this kit or shelling out the dough for a collectors series… so glad I went with this. I have never played a collectors, but can't justify the price especially after having the design series. Just amazing!!! Thanks to Sweetwater for great service as well!!!

This kit is AMAZING, just like the other reviewer stated. It is much nicer than I expected. The pictures don't really show just how nice these drums are. Very nice grain pattern with tobacco burst and lacquer finish. I also purchased the DW 3000 series hardware pack to complete the kit; very nice as well. I have always dreamed of owning a DW set, now I do thanks to DW and the Design Series and of course Sweetwater ;)

I have always been a Pearl person myself. I wanted a new kit and bought this one. I have played the collectors and performance and can't tell a big difference. The first thing I noticed is the bass drum boomed, and the snare had a wicked crack. I am in love with this kit.
