    Awesome Guitar!!!

I actually have a Richie Havens D-40 that I bought used...I'm thinking it's around an '06 model, but could be way wrong about that. I much prefer the natural finish of the D-40 now, and only bought mine because it was a steal. Wow, what a find. I've owned Martins, high-end Takamines and an Ovation Adamas. The Guild had been set up with great action, and sounds amazing. The bass is killer, without being muddy, mids are clear and present and the trebles still sing through. I've put a Fishman Infinity pickup in it and gig with it regularly. The neck on mine is fairly wide...wider than any of my other guitars (took a little getting used to), but it looks like they've got a narrower neck on these models. The neck width, especially at the big square heel, is the only reason I wouldn't give mine a 5 of 5. I couldn't say enough good things about my Guild. My bluegrass friends were surprised at the (pardon the expression) "balls" it has on the low end, and the loud, clear projection. Just what I want in a big dread. I strum mostly, but it finger picks just as well. For the price, you really can't beat it. I still love my Martins too (never been the world's biggest Taylor guy...they're superb instruments, just don't fit me), and am getting ready to add a new D-35 to the stable, but the D-40 isn't going anywhere...ever!
