An All-mahogany Beauty from Martin

The Martin D-15M acoustic guitar is a throwback to Martin's Style 15 models, which had their heyday back in the 1940s. A departure from Martin's more common spruce-topped models, the D-15M features an A-frame-X-braced mahogany top on an all-mahogany dreadnought body. A truly unique instrument, you'll find that the deep overtones of this all-mahogany dreadnought is perfect for filling out higher vocals and accompanying brighter spruce-topped acoustic guitars. If you're looking for an acoustic that combines complex tones and powerful projection, you're going to love the Martin D-15M!

All-mahogany body provides a rich and full voice

Join generations of singer/songwriters who have discovered the magic of a guitar like the Martin D-15M. The solid mahogany top, back, neck, and sides of the D-15M give it a darker and fuller voice than typical spruce-topped guitars. This complex voice is perfect for filling out the sound of a higher voice, making it a favorite among solo artists everywhere. Ask the guitar experts at Sweetwater - mahogany bodied acoustics, like the Martin D-15M, have a wonderful voice for studio and live work.

Elegance in simplicity

Martin proves beyond a doubt that simple is elegant, with the straightforward look and feel of the D-15M. A smooth satin finish makes the D-15M incredibly comfortable to play, and its minimalist single-ring rosette adds the perfect touch of class you can't help but admire. Unostentatious and easy on the eyes, the D-15M is the perfect guitar for anyone who can appreciate the artistry of subtlety.

An amazingly comfortable guitar

You don't often come across an acoustic dreadnought that can easily be described as comfortable. The Martin D-15M is one of those rare exceptions, which alone makes it an impressive instrument. Part of what makes this guitar so easy to play is the way its satin-finished neck feels on your hand. And combined with Martin's low oval neck carve, arguably one of the most comfortable neck carves ever made, the D-15M just feels right in your arms. Pick one up, and you'll know exactly what me mean!

True Martin Quality @ Great Price

Just received my D-15M in the burst finish and as I expected it's beautiful looking, playing and sounding. I have owned several Martins over the years and the D-15M continues the Martin excellence of quality. Nut width is perfect for strumming or picking. The mahogany really amplifies the sound- this guitar is loud. All in all I highly recommend this guitar. Been playing for more years then I like to admit and Martins are the best playing acoustics I have found. And of course my sales pro Tyler was stellar with his customer service (as usual).

Finally Found One that I Couldn't Live Without

Since I live in NJ it is pretty convenient to visit the Martin factory in Pennsylvania, and now I have been there twice. You cannot believe the beautiful wood smell that greets you at the door. If you love guitars, you will want a Martin (even more than you already do) after visiting. Why? Because you will see regular people doing all of the wonderful things that add up to a beautiful Martin guitar. And when that nice woman smiled and showed off her mostly finished Mahogany Dreadnought, I told her "That one is just for me." Her pride was evident as she posed with it for our pictures. I had played the D 15 M's on a few occasions, even though I thought I'd want a smaller body guitar such as the 000 or even 00. But the Dreadnought won out for me, because aside from the evident craftsmanship and impressive factory tour, that guitar seemed to have such a warm depth and beautiful clarity. And it is very responsive. So many subtle variations in tone are available depending upon your touch and what type of pick you use, if any. The harmonics are clear and loud! It resonates for what seems like forever. The neck feels just right to me. It almost feels like it has a very slight V, but none of the descriptions read that way, so perhaps I imagine it. The tuners have a tight feel to them and give an overall impression of good quality. The D 15M burst that I received from Sweetwater was every bit as good as I expected when I opened the box. It is beautifully subtle and understated in the looks department: satiny finish, subtle burst, and mine has dark hued postition marker inlays, adding to the understated visual. To me it has a timeless, vintage look to it. And guess what comes with it, straight from the factory? The gorgeous wood smell! I'd really recommend this guitar as an instrument worth the price on the price tag. Ben Robinson is my go to guy at Sweetwater. He is super helpful and always nice.

Superb Martin Sound & High Build Quality, A Real Winner!

I rarely write reviews, but was so taken by the excellent sound and build quality of the D-15M Burst! The solid Mahogany body/neck, lovely solid figured Morado (aka "Bolivian Rosewood", though not technically a part of the rosewood family) fingerboard & bridge, spruce bracing, solid bone nut & saddle, solid ebony bridge pins, tight CNC milled "simple dovetail" neck joint (glued & bolted too) and thin satin nitrocellulose finish all combine to provide a beautifully resonant (vibration can be felt throughout the entire guitar) and rich/warm/well-defined (but never muddy) Martin dreadnought sound. I find mahogany a bit easier on the ears (less treble) than a spruce top (especially Adirondack) in a more intimate setting. Build quality is impeccable with tight seams and joints inside/out and you don't even miss having binding along the edges as it is fitted so well. It has a great look in the tradition of pre-war all-mahogany guitars with a nice shaded top. Action is smooth, easy & comfortable with the modified low oval neck profile and satin finish (doesn't show fingerprints too). It has a good hardshell case (the mahogany & morado guitar woods smell fabulous when you first open it!). As an avid Martin enthusiast & owner I highly recommend it and one of the best values in the Martin "Made in USA" line-up. Give one a try and you may find the D-15M Burst hard to put down! Thanks as always for the great service from Sweetwater!
