Great guitar, funky color
First off this is a great playing guitar. I have an SE model and the S2 blows it away. There is a huge quality difference between the S2 and the SE. The S2 feels, plays and sounds like a professional instrument. I will never buy a cheap guitar again.
The S2 neck is nice and chunky. Mine feels like it has a very slight V shape in it. The SE wide thin neck was a little too thin for me. The pickups sound great and I don't see the need to replace them at all. The push pull single coil option is very useful for a variety of sounds.
Now for the reason I gave this a 4 and not a 5. Mine has a slight paint imperfection at the base of the neck. It's like a pencil eraser sized area of small bubbles in the paint. I am not sure how this passed quality control. It's low on the neck so I don't really feel it with normal playing but this should have been caught and buffed out. If this were a very high dollar custom 24 it would be going back.
The other thing to note is the color of this guitar, Tobacco Sunburst. The color looks different in various lighting. The pictures on the site make the color look a lot brighter than it is. This is one case where it might not look better in person that it does in the pictures. The dark color on the edges and back is almost a dark cherry/purple, not black. So the guitar looks kind of old school purple/faded dull orange in low light. It reminds me of Jimi Hendrix's "Are you experienced" album cover for some reason. Its definitely not a vibrant as the pictures show in the guitar gallery. It's not necessarily ugly, just funky. I might have went with grey/black had I known this.
Overall its a great professional quality playing and sounding instrument and definitely worth the extra cash over an SE model.
