Great little amp

By Jo from Maryland on October 14, 2022 Music Background: Playing for decades as a home hobbyist.

. No effects or modeling just good sound in a well built attractive package. Never considered Orange amps before because the color put me off but the black looks great. Pleased with this amp enough to try other Orange amps as long as they come in black.

Nice amp

By Pat from Minnesota on August 10, 2022

I bought this amp for practicing in the living room or anywhere besides my larger watt tube amp in my practice room. It is very smooth with no feedback noise at all, and for an anolog amp I wasn't even thinking about it being non tube. It has plenty of power it is too loud in other words for a large living room. The dirty channel is a different feel after using a tube amp for years, and in my opinion works nice for cleaner rock and roll without too much gain. I put a compressor pedal on the clean channel, and through the back seperate in the send and return inputs put a flanger vortex, on the clean channel, and this amp has such a true sound with natural distortion as a result, it will rock any type of music types sounds from pink floyd-Gilmour to high sustain rock solos. The reverb on it is great touch so you don't need more pedals. You will for sure appreciate the zero feedback sound, and don't limit your guitar playing to one single room, bring the crush on the deck outside and learn.

A simple little amp that packs a punch.

By Maxwell Remund from HARRISBURG, SD on August 10, 2022

I was looking for a simple amp without a bunch of effects built in, as I run a Boss GX-100 with my favorite tones into it. Exactly what I hoped it would be and gets plenty loud! Great for practice and for gigs. As always the folks at Sweetwater delivered, Dave Brow is the man!

Black is the New Orange

By Sweetwater Customer on June 1, 2022

Great sounding Amp offering both Clean and Dirty channels with no frills just great tones. Great small venue size and light weight at about 25 lbs
I owned both of the big brothers to this guy Orange CR60C Pro and the Orange CR120 Pro and they all had great presence and sound qualities
Added bonus is the effects loop for pedals !

Super amp !

By Ed A. from San Antonio on February 18, 2022 Music Background: Novice player. Less than 2 yrs experience

I'm a senior citizen player who only started a 16 months ago. After buying my first (and second lol) electric 8 months ago I was talked into buying a popular brand modeling amp with all the bells and whistles...multiple presets, Bluetooth, programmable presets etc. Soon realized it was way over my head and really didn't enjoy searching and pushing buttons trying to find that perfect classic rock groove. Then I found this 35watt Orange! Watched multiple reviews and played a smaller version at the local big box. Was blown away by the ease of use and the searing rock tone of even the 20watt version. Hit up Sweetwater and found this black version demo model. Perfect for me! Love the thundering overdrive and crisp clean tones. I'm sold on Orange !!!

Power FUL

Definitely an amp that has the power. Highly recommend. You will be satisfied with this amps performance.

Great little amp !

By Dave F from Golden, Colorado on November 4, 2021

I was looking for a new little practice amp but I got a lot more! I started out looking for something I could sit and play quietly in a small room in my house and looked at quite a few amps online many of which sounded pretty good to me but nothing was standing out. So I called Caleb at Sweetwater to give me to give me a little bit of advice. He recommended 3 amps to me. Being able to narrow down the choices really helped and I chose the Orange Crush 35RT as the one that sounded most likely to fit my needs. Actually the thing is impressive... I have been able to play at different volume levels and be equally happy about what I'm hearing. I've also been playing various effects through it and the result is spectacular for such a small amp. Never having had an Orange amp before I didn't know what to expect but I have been pleasantly surprised.

Awesome Amp!

By michael austin from NC on July 20, 2021

This amp is great I play more than my tube amps now. It's more than enough for home use and would be great for small venues and for the money you pay it can't be beat. I have played all the Orange Crush amps and I believe they are the best solid state amps available.

Amazing Amp!

By Landry Renee from Palmetto, FL on March 31, 2021

Bought this as my first amp due to a recommendation, and I couldn't be happier. I wanted to invest in a higher quality amp that I could get a lot of use out of and this is definitely and awesome pick. From beginners to pros this amp is easy to use and super sick! Love it totally recommend

This Thing Rocks!

By Liam on January 31, 2021 Music Background: Amateur, played in a few metal bands, home recorder.

I play metal and prog rock, but also sometimes single coil blues. This is the best practice amp/small gig amp you could ask for. It's got just the right amount of hair, and if you need it tighter you can always throw a tube screamer or overdrive in front of it. From my Mark Holcomb PRS SVN to my Epi Les Paul Special, this thing rules. E Standard to Drop D and I'm hearing every bit of articulation I could want, with that classic Orange sound.
Every time I bring it to a jam, even to friends that have "better" gear, they always want to try it and end up loving it. Always stunned.
Great value, get it!

Incredibly Versatile Amplifier

By Kamden Kuklinski from Illinois on November 5, 2020

I was initially very hesitant to order this amp online having never played through it before in person. I was quite relieved to hear that I would be able to ship the amp back to Sweetwater at no cost to me if it did not work out. My sales engineer, Nate McClure, was incredibly friendly and professional and he was a joy to work with throughout the entire sales process and even afterward to check into whether I was enjoying my new gear. Thankfully, it never got to the point that I considered returning my amp because it is truly the best amp that I have ever played through.

My first experience with Orange was playing through a Tiny Terror head at my local guitar store when I was still a teenager and I absolutely fell in love with the simplicity of it and the surprisingly wide array of sounds that I could get out of it. This amp reaffirmed my love for Orange amps and I am very happy to say that it has been nothing short of a breeze to play through. The amp has wonderful sparkling clean tones but it is also capable of producing the monstrous dirty tones that Orange became known for early on. This amp certainly produces a rich wall of sound that may surprise you given the size of it. While I typically play with my guitar plugged straight into the amp, it also takes pedals really well due in part to the wonderful buffered effects loop. I could not be happier with my purchase.

For context, I play a Godin Session HT. I have a Line 6 M5 multi-effects pedal, a TC Electronics Corona Chorus pedal, and a Keeley Compressor Plus pedal. Regardless, I would go as far to say that ANY guitar or effects would sound incredible through this amp. I would highly recommend this amp to anybody and I have already recommended it to several friends of mine.

Excellent Amp!

By Eric on May 31, 2020 Music Background: Gigging lead guitarist

This is my second 35rt. My first I've gigged with numerous times at local bars and is extremely loud with great clarity. I accidentally dropped it on down a fifteen flight of concrete steps on the way to rehearsal one night. Got to rehearsal and other than scrapes and dents it worked perfectly. Amazing sound and high quality craftsmanship.

Was looking for garage jam amp

By barry jenkins from Wooster, OH on February 29, 2020 Music Background: Been playing all types of music for over 50 years

I read the reviews..I wanted a durable jam amp for in my garage.we do all types of music from blues to metal.requirement was durability, price, and most importantly the sound.im 64 years old but I work with younger people.i emailed Yuval Fuchs and he really hooked me up.ultra fast shipping for free.we have been all trying out this amp and it's amazing.it has a range of sounds that is unbelievable for a small inexpensive amp.the built in tuner is a cool feature too.the only thing I would change would be to add an extension speaker jack and a 120v plug on back to plug in an accessory but neither of these things are important at all. This is a pro quality amp to take anywhere and dial in your sound.

Most Bang for the Buck

By Peter Scobell from Christiana DE on February 16, 2020 Music Background: Writer, performer, Independent producer

My ten year old model of this amp finally began to get a little finicky so I thought I should get a new amp. I looked at many others. I was willing to pay even triple the amount if I could find something better. My desire for it to be compact and have great tone at any volume narrowed the field quite a bit. After being unimpressed during my research I decided to just go ahead and order the same amp again. To my delight there where improvements such as two separate channels, one clean, one dirty. The old amp had many different effects. All I ever used was the reverb. The new one has only the reverb effect which imo sounds better. I gigged with it last night and it sounded fantastic. Both channels had tone to spare. Very inspiring. We're talkin'… like nothing for a good amp. I play lead guitar I'm a couple of folk rock combos so the stage sound is more than enough and I patch it through the PA. I had the clean channel up about a quarter and the Dirty channel about a third with the gain at about half. In a very loud rock band without being miced up in a medium room it might not keep up. Although it's b**** to the wall volume is quite impressive.

Great amp!!!

By Sweetwater Customer on September 25, 2019

I originally selected the 20rt, but after speaking with a sales associate this model was recommended instead and I"m very happy that I changed my order. This is a very versatile amp for the price. The effect loop and the cabinet emulation on the headphone output are great features!! I also love the drive of this amp it saved me from having to buy a fuzz pedal. The reverb sounds great and overall is a great practice amp!!!

Black is the New Orange

By Dog from WI on July 21, 2019 Music Background: Guitarist / Vocalist of 42 years still going strong

Ya, so it's like this. It's pretty simple. you just half to know how to use your guitar , and how to use a guitar amp.
I see some people give the amp a bad review, They don't like this, they don't like that. It's all a bunch of crap.
I never give reviews, first of all. but.. I can't sit around and watch people talk S_ _ T about a perfectly good amp.
So it's like this, it's pretty simple > You half to know how to use your guitars pick ups, the guitars tone controls, the guitars volume control / you half to know how to use a guitar amp, how to use the volume controls, the amps tone controls and how to use the GAIN control, how to use the reverb control. You need to know how to take your time and learn the amp. Not just say I don't like the distortion, It sounds muddy or ECT.
The fact is if used the way it is intended to be used, it's a WONDERFUL AMP.
It's loud enough to be used on stage, {unless the members of the band don't know how to keep a decent stage level, Which I find is pretty Common} The tone is nice, the distortion is nice, the reverb is nice, the volume is plenty loud, the color , take your pick, the weight is nice
IT"S A NICE AMP > it's pretty simple !! For the people who complain I can only say
OPERATOR ERROR !!!!!

Crush Tone Value

By KBooth from Kewanna IN on July 18, 2019

This amp has a surprising full sound and top end crunch. The tone of this amps analog signal path in clean or dirty channel will fool you into thinking it"s a tube amp. I was apprehensive of an amplifier with a 10" speaker thinking I would need at least a 1x12" for the fullness and sustain I like but the Crush 35RT has it all. Special thanks SE Ryan Clapper for his insight and knowledge and to Sweetwater for its sooner than expected holiday shipping to my remote address!

Amazing Amp

By jim from Missouri on April 12, 2018

Best amp for money you can get. I've owned tube amps and they are great but so expensive and heavy to move around. This thing will get as loud as you need with great tone and still be able to use at home and move without throwing your back out. If your on the fence trust me buy it and you won't be disappointed. First orange amp i've owed and i wish i'd bought one years ago now.

Crush 35RT

By James from Chico, CA on February 7, 2018

Awesome little amp with a big sound!

Orange got it right with this guy. For me, this is the perfect little amp. It's got everything you need for a wide range of sonic options without being complicated. I really like the simple layout and that the focus is on what's under the hood, which is to my ear a "Crushing" tone beyond what you might expect from an amp this size.

It sounds wicked good both clean/dirty and takes effects on the built-in effects loop great!

Build quality is great and it has a high-end feel to it.

Super stoked on this amp and the fantastic service from Sweetwater!

Orange Crush 35RT Review Update

By Eddy from Chicago on July 27, 2017

Having this amp for several months now the speaker has broken in and really sounds fantastic! When you purchase this amp keep in mind that if you want that full spectrum of sound you will have to turn it up to 4 on the volume and about 6.5 on the dirt before you start getting into the sound level that makes this amp shine. I play it on 5 or 6 vol. and it is LUSH! So if you want a lower level sound, put a overdrive, or distortion pedal in front of it and you will be content. For me it does'nt matter which guitar I use this incredible amplifier rocks! This is a amp you need to crank with a band, and it has plenty of headroom for gigs. It is the most versatile amp I have ever owned playing sweet melodies, blues, country, rock, or metal, its all in this box. Buy one now, you wont regret it, and thank you again Sweetwater for the great customer service, I am a happy rocker and a customer for life!

Best Practice Amp on the Market, Period.

By Simon from CA on February 11, 2017

The market is pretty saturated right now with solid state practice amps. Fender, Vox, Blackstar, Marshall are all in the game. I've pretty much tried them all, and the Orange 35rt edges out the competition in a few ways. First, build quality. Most of the others in the market feel cheap and appear to use the most mediocre materials possible in their construction. The 35rt feels as substantial and high quality as anything in oranges lineup of valve amps. Build quality matters a lot to me, just because I want a great deal doesn't mean I want a piece of gear that looks like a plastic toy. Second, ease of use. When you are just starting out you simply don't need dozens of amp models, and 20 plus built in effects, you just need an amp that is fun to play and sounds great.

I have owned this amp twice in my short guitar playing "career." It was first practice amp ever, eventually sold as I upgraded my home setup to a great tube amp head and cabinet. But recently I had need for a small portable amp to take on road trips and I launched into another search for the best practice amp I could find. After exhaustive YouTube viewings and review readings I ended up back where I started. With the Orange 35rt, couldn't be happier.

Orange crush 35rt

By Eddy from Chicago I'll on December 9, 2016

The Orange crush 35rt is definitely a state of the art guitar amp. I have been playing big name amps for forty years and over the last ten of them I have been searching for the sound from old recordings from old tube amps particularly a 1959 25 watt hi fi Heathkit, that I hooked up to a Marshall 4x12 cabinet. Nothing came close to that natural distortion until yesterday when I plugged into my new black Orange!!!! Single and double coils sound fantastic through this incredible little monster. And it is gig worthy and is capable of playing a large venue. This amp is the best sounding of all I have played for many years, and after a few days of breaking in the speaker it will even sound sweeter! Thank you Sweetwater for the great service! And I would like to tell future Crush buyer's that the new version of the black model comes with gold trim on top and sides instead of white, and it is classic looking! If you are looking for a great amplifier this is by far the best bet for any type of sound you are looking for!

the little giant killer

By Papa Turk from Rockford Illinois on August 25, 2016

I was at the local store looking for a nice little take it to a jam session amp. The sales reps talked about every other amp they had in stock-but the Orange. Right there and then I went on a mission to learn more about the Orange. Read everything about the 35RT 1x10" that I could find. Then Mark Chapman calls out of the blue and hey buddy what's up. I said what about the RT35 sez he's got one for himself. I ordered one. This 25 lb. package of joy is one sweet amp. got it Tuesday Gigged with it on Wednesday. I'm set up next to a fender champion 100 2x12. One song later every one wants to know what the hell I got. Big Deep Rich Tone and more controlled volume than the fender. Then I put my behringer DI GDI21 in front of the input and the little giant killer came to life. For a 1x10" this little guy sounds huge. It's not my big rig. But is my new take it anywhere rig. Look closely at this little guy if need compact power. Remember this name Orange Crush 35RT - 35W 1x10" combo amp.
I got mine in camouflage Black. I promise you'll find your tone. I haven't tried the dirty channel yet this will be fun

Perfect for bedroom jamming

By Sweetwater Customer on April 7, 2016

Perfect size and options for what I need. Headphone out and Aux in allow for learning and jamming favorite songs. The tones are excellent and it takes my pedals perfectly. Also, sounds great just plug and play. The gain is pure Orange.

Amazing

Really amazing sounds when played with my gibson guitars. Great clean sounds for a solid state amp as well, if you like rock.

Orange I Glad I Bought This Amp!

By Geoffrey Forrest from Myrtle Beach, SC on January 22, 2016 Music Background: Pro-musician - Studio engineer - Worship leader

I have tried Line 6 Pods and even i-Rig "do it all" kind of things but all of them came up short on sound and short in reliability. I have a Vox AC 30 custom and run Bogner wessex and burnley pedals, but at the beach, with high corrosive environment week in week out, I wanted a more affordable, lighter B-rig that even if it does not last forever does a great job and saves my nice stuff. this accomplishes that and some. Really sweet and warm clean channel... like crazy good on its own and also is a nice platform for pedals. Dirty channel gets the job done anywhere from blues light break to high gain modern rock but still SS breakup so it's not the greatest but works. two channels each with a separate volume making it great for live or real practice with a band. I suggest purchasing the footswitch to switch between the channels. Tuner and reverb really works great. Solid amp, affordable, and even worthy of live application. Charlie Davis is my rep and will help you, talk to you about your specific needs, and is super knowledgeable to make sure you get what you need to do the job.

Love it!

Awesome amp, highly recommend this one for the price!

Best small amp in its price range

By Brian from Ray on November 6, 2021 Music Background: Hard rock, metal, classic rock

I needed a small, reliable practice/grab and go jam amp and this little beast fits the bill nicely. It works for all genres I can think of other than djent metal but it might even manage with an OD in front to tighten things up. There's so much gain on tap, almost too much. Drop D riffs sound huge with my PRS guitars. It sounds and feels like a mini Rockerverb and is loud enough to keep up with a band. It's easily as loud as my EVH LBX-S tube head through a 1x12 cab. The chromatic tuner is pretty accurate and the reverb sounds great, especially on the clean channel. My only gripe is that the 10" speaker doesn't have quite the punch of a 12 but it does sound nice. Lots to be happy about my purchase.

Versatile

By Stephen Wares from San Jose, CA on May 29, 2019

I was looking for an inexpensive amp with 2 channels and an effects loop that I could easily carry to practice / studio.....I looked at a wide variety of options and ended up with the Orange Crush 35RT because it has great clean tones, a rich sounding reverb, takes my effects pedals well (overdrive and boost in front / modulation and delay in the loop) and has a thick dirty tone that you can really crank. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it does have a small amount of background noise...BUT despite that I would highly recommend this amp.

Thanks to Nick Beach my sales engineer as always. He asked me a bunch of questions about my reasons for buying this amp and I am very happy with the decision to go ahead and get it.

Orange 35

Very nice practice tool.

Looks are deceiving

By Johnny Nobles from Alabama on March 15, 2018 Music Background: Guitarist, Songwriter, Performer

I ordered this amp mostly on Orange's reputation and the reviews here on Sweetwater. I was skeptical that a 10" speaker would give me the low end definition that I wanted but I was willing to try. When it arrived I became a bit more skeptical - dang thing is small - but I got it unboxed and plugged it in. I wanted this amp because it still retained a clean channel which is what I was interested in. Well, after a few hours of burn in playing I have to say I'm elated. This amp packs a real punch, is clean as a sine wave, and handles the low end very well. The size makes it a perfect carry to the jam amp and it's ample volume will compete in most rooms for the floor. Well done Orange. Thank you, Sweetwater!

Nice Amp

By edward essayan from FL on February 2, 2017

I purchased this amp as I wanted a simple amp without bells and 100 different distortion modes. This amp fits the bill. Nice clean sound, has power and is simple to use.

I made a couple of mistakes. I didn't realize that the amp didn't have a foot channel switch so now that is an added cost and I didn't pay attention to the on off switch which is on the back of the amp. I do like the switch on the back.

I love the built in tuner and overall think it is a great amp for the money.

Perfect!

By philp from Oklahoma on March 19, 2016 Music Background: Hobbyist

Sweet amp! I was looking for a good clean tone and this amp delivers. As a hobbyist I use this in the studio (bedroom). Plenty of volume. I've tried the dirty sound and it's real nice. Good reverb, too. This is a nice amp, and I'm very happy with my purchase.

Great Little AMP

By Sweetwater Customer on March 2, 2016

This think is a lot of fun and great little amp for the price the clean is really nice , but you need to roll the volume down on the guitar or it gets really sensitive to the string attack other then that the dirty is awesome and just a great little amp for jamming.

Nice Little Practice Amp!

By Steve Cherne from Tecumseh, MI on April 20, 2015 Music Background: Weekend player

Handy practice amp - has a solid clean channel, digital reverb and tuner built in - plus a separate volume control for the overdrive/distortion channel. Both channels share a three band EQ, and there's enough gain on tap for even modern sounding distortion. What I didn't expect was how warm and "tube-y" the clean channel sounded, and as you crank the volume even the clean channel will begin to overdrive.
When you factor in the effects loop and the option to use a foot switch to change from clean to distorted, there's a lot going on in this amp especially for the price. Good solid Orange construction makes this an all around choice for a 'grab-n-go' amp for practicing.

It's good, but not great

By Sweetwater Customer on January 6, 2023

For the price, this amp is ok, and it's good for the price. If used as-is, it can be a pretty good practice amp and is loud enough to play gigs. The dynamics are somewhat limited. Using some boost pedals and especially gain stacking, it's very sensitive to overload. Stacked gain can make the distortion sound very ugly and harsh. Using just the dirty channel on the other hand sounds good, and the gain stacking in the amp is good. The amp works well in the context of a band, but some highs and mids are very different from a Fender or Marshall sound. For some people, that's a big plus, and for others, it doesn't work well. I can see why people like this amp, but after trying it for a couple of months as a practice amp with a band, it's not great, and it's not for me. Your mileage may vary, and again, this is not a high $ amp...

No tone....
