Gigging musicians love this amplifier

The 50-watt, 2 x 12" Peavey Classic 50 212 is ready to gig as hard as you do. For most medium- to large-sized venues, 50 watts is all you need to be heard once you're miked up. Footswitchable channels (footswitch included) give you a wide tonal range to play with, and a speaker output for an extension cab makes it easy to expand your rig. It can be hard to find a combo amplifier that's adept at many musical styles while still being practical for the average musician, but the Peavey Classic 50 212 nails it.

Real spring reverb for classic guitar tones

On the Classic 50 212, you'll find a genuine spring reverb, giving you access to iconic guitar tones. Even if you don't play surf rock, you'll find this combo amp's reverb to be a cut above the stock reverb found in most amplifiers in this class. And the reverb is even switchable with the included footswitch.

Staple for the band.

Great all around amp and its affordable. Takes pedals well if u want them. Country and southern rock king.

I cannot believe how amazing this amp is. For the price, and the super fast shipping by Sweetwater, it was totally worth every penny. Other amps that sound like this are upwards of the $1200-$2500 range. This is a great price, and a great value by Peavey. The tubes are so clean sounding, and it sounds so smooth on any clean rhythm guitar setting. Then you can switch to lead and get some crunch and add a little reverb for some nice leads. All in all I would recommend this amp to anybody who wants to upgrade to a tube amp. IT IS WORTH IT, and you will never have to upgrade again. Sweetwater was so great too, so always order through them.

Classic 50 (II) - Improvement to an already great amp

This is a brand new design for the Classic 50 (II). I've had this on order since 11/11/13 when I learned Peavey was redesigning the Classic 50. Received this new amp on 7/25/14. They should stray becoming widely available in the near future. I purchased mine through Sweetwater - great customer service btw. I have had regular with Peavey Customer Service for 8+ months while waiting its arrival. These are some of the design changes according to Peavey: - New PCB design (all resistors/caps on a single board and re-oriented in amp) - New housing for EL84 and 12AX7 Tubes - Additional footswitch capability (Boost function) - Silent LDR switching - Classic Jeweled Pilot Light - Very low microphonic design that works well with most any 12AX7 - More stable power amp configuration to accommodate modern EL84 parts - Improved hand-wound transformer design - Universal power transformer setup, via internal series/parallel connections - No NOISY tube clips - Easier access to change tubes - IEC power inlet - EXTERNAL mains fuse If you're familiar with the older Classic 50 you'll notice a similar look from the front and a significantly different look from the back side. Although the controls are identical, the internal electronics have had a makeover. They've also gone back to a slight diagonal speaker pattern again. Still has the Blue Marvel speakers. The tone, value and durability of the Classic 50 is legendary. This new amp appears to be all that with some tweaks and design improvements. The updates appear to be more modernization of design while making any future servicing or tube changes much easier. Unless you're in the market for an ultra-expensive boutique amp the Classic 50 is everything you'll need. We all know that "broken in" speakers sound better than new ones, but the new Classic 50 (II) sounds great right out of the box. Can't wait til these Blue Marvel speakers are "broken-in". Don't let speaker snobs tell you the Blue Marvel speakers need replaced to make this a "great" amp. Theses are really good speakers. If they had a "Celestion", "Jensen", "Weber" or "WGS" sticker on the back no one would complain. The Blue Marvels deliver. Bottom line - Made in the USA, great tone, great quality, right price and, if you get it from Sweetwater, great service.

Grerat Value

No offense to Fender, but this Peavey is a somewhat better value. I had a Twin Reverb, and I like this better. Glassier cleans, better overdrive. I also like this better than the reissue Fender Twin and the new "Blues" amps. It could be the tubes. In my Fender Reverb unit, I replaced a new tube with an old vintage, and it made a world of sound difference. My Peaveys are Made in USA.

This is such a great amp and at such an affordable price. I play both electric and acoustic guitars through this amp and I find myself smiling when it starts humming! Great buy and great service at Sweetwater. Don't give it a second thought, just buy it and you'll see what I mean.
