A really very nice pedal!!

By Dave T from Genoa City, WI on January 3, 2022 Music Background: Tone Junkie...

This pedal is so versatile. It is a great overdrive and does SRV type tone in spades. Buy one, you'll see...
It's never leaving my board. It takes the Tube screamer to a new level... Really !

Truly Fantastic OD Pedal

By Dan Howard from EUGENE, OR on November 1, 2021

I couldn't be happier with this pedal. I've had it about a week, as of this review, and it's a breeze to dial in a smooth tone that is very forgiving and simply makes soloing feel easier. With the gain dialed to about 3 o'clock, it sustains for days. Yet, at the same time, it somehow remains quite touch-sensitive and dynamic at high-gain settings. It has none of the "squishiness" that you often hear with OD pedals when you dime the gain.

I dig the low-gain tones, as well. And, it's quite useful as an EQ/compressor (when run on the "smooth" setting) to use with other OD pedals, when run at zero gain. My other OD pedals are a Barber Small Fry Burn Unit and a Fender Pugilist, and they are both good pedals (especially the Barber). But, if I could keep only one of my three OD pedals, I would choose the Wampler Clarksdale, hands down.

Obviously, you're not going to get this pedal for thrash metal. But, for great blues lead tones to Santana-type tones to great classic rock tones, this pedal is amazing. All that said, I recognize that an Ibanez tube screamer can also sound great, for $100 less. However, to me, the distinguishing factors of this pedal are: (a) it seems to have a significantly bigger gain range; and (b) it has a three-band EQ. To me, the extra $100 or so is worth it to get the three-band EQ alone. It's an extremely useful EQ that allows you to adjust the tone to suit pretty much any guitar/amp combo, which is not something you get with the traditional single tone control on most tube screamers and tube screamer mods.

This is the one pedal

By Glen from Ohio on June 19, 2021

I could have saved myself a lot of money over the last two years by starting off with the Wampler V2 Delta Overdrive pedal. Rather than a review of technical specs that you can easily find on video reviews, I will simply say I was looking for a pedal that would add some Texas Blues tone, has a great range of overdrive, and is well built. This pedal is the one. I have bought several other pedals that are nice in their own right (blues driver, TS 808, and a few others), but this one nails exactly what I was looking for. Playing a tele or a strat through a deluxe reverb or Princeton reverb with this in the chain is like heaven on earth. It's consistency despite volume levels is amazing. Whether you are looking to add a little overdrive and keep it relatively clean, or want to play some down and dirty Texas Blues, this is the one. As always, Sweetwater and my Sales Engineer, Stephen Oppenheim, had it in my hands within a day or two in perfect condition, and made sure it met my expectations.

Replaced my Plumes

By David Pope from Asheboro, NC on June 21, 2020

Extremely tickled with this pedal. Had an issue with my Plumes. And end up sending it back and exchanged it for the Clarksdale. Very happy with this pedal. It will do the classic tube screamer and more. The EQ is very flexible and you can do everything from boost to full out overdrive. So many tube screamer style pedals get very fizzy. This one is extremely well done.

Love it!

I play for fun and just for fun to relax..got a very stressful job. This is actually the first pedal iv'e purchased.
I have a Vox vt40+ modeling amp so i can try different sounds to get idea what i like. Did a lot of looking before
i decided on the Clarksdale because of tone a features , this thing is awesome and sounds like i bought a better amp..As a novice i doubt my opinion matters to people with real skill. But if this thing can make me play better that's saying a lot..

Great before high gain!

By leeroy from Missouri on January 4, 2020 Music Background: Guitar, Drums, Recording Engineer

This pedal is awesome as a boost before high gain metal sounds, plus you get a great sounding TS808 with a 3-band EQ. I boost the Wampler Dracarys with this pedals gain all the way down and it sounds brutal! This pedal works great for all my needs, but that's just me. It will be different for some people, depending on your amps, guitars, signal chain, ect. This pedal also works great as a clean boost with low gain pickups.

Vintage TS and More....

By EM on March 16, 2018

I purchased the Clarksdale expecting it to sound a little more like my Fulldrive, but was pleasantly surprised to find it really does have more of a vintage Tube Screamer vibe. Take a vintage TS and add an active eq and you have a good idea of where this pedal will take you. The Clarksdale sounds great by itself, especially when boosting the bass/treble a bit and scooping some of the mids out. I have found it also excels as a booster, which is how I am using it. I am currently using the Clarksdale to push the overdrive and distortion channels on my Wampler Hotwired pedal. The active eq is very powerful and makes the Clarksdale extremely flexible. The Clarksdale doesn't have as much gain on tap as my Fulldrive, but the overall sound is more refined and flexible due to the 3 band eq. The Clarksdale is a superb pedal, and the build quality and finish are great. If you like Tube Screamer style pedals you owe it to yourself to check one out.

Amazing

By Sweetwater Customer on September 8, 2017

All I can say is wow! My only regret is that I should have bought it sooner. I'm a huge Stevie ray fan and if you are too then this is the pedal you want!! I own a ts808 and a ts9 both are modded by keeley and the clarksdale in my opinion is way better then the 808.

Go To Overdrive

By Stephen King from Clinton, MS on January 27, 2017 Music Background: Old Blues Picker

OK . . . I have a pedal board full of overdrives. Cheep to expensive, i have them. I have even built many of my own ODs. I have modified TubeScreamer circuits. I have tried all the 4558 dual op amp chips, Germanium diodes, various LEDs, Symmetric / Asymmetric clipping, you name it. I have tried it. I don't own an original. But, i have been able to A/B an original with my designs.

This is THE best OD tone for me. The EQ circuit makes the pedal. I run mine with the Bass cranked to 3, Mids at 2, Treble at noon. Just warm OD tones for days. I run on the switch on the Smooth setting an noon the Gain and Volume. This pedal will not be rotating off my board.

Wampler got the jack locations right. I love the top input / output. It's a little thing. But, as a gear nerd that's always changing pedals, i love that design.

Best TS variant I have played

By Brian Volante from Texas on January 21, 2017 Music Background: Working Musician

Just want to reiterate all the positive comments here. Been playing for 30 years and have used many variations and mods of the venerable TS during that time. The Clarksdale is easily the best--the tube screamer that blew me away. The sound it perfect, the feel is perfect and the pedal is so versatile with the extra 2 knobs and the switch that you can get a huge variety of different sounds--slight variations and tweaks of your normal TS tone or something well beyond the tone of most tube screamer type pedals. The gain and voicing is just beautiful and sounds fantastic and this pedal feels great under the fingers. It "feels" like and amp and cleans up great with the volume. In fact, use the guitar's volume knob with this pedal because it allows you access to an almost unlimited array of tones just like a fuzzface would. Wampler did a great job on this pedal. It IS the PERFECT TS style drive you are looking for.

A real treat!

By Roger Hausmann from Johnson City, TN on June 28, 2015

How many overdrives have I owned, and how many are still on my pedal board? The ratio is like 100 to 3. Once the Wampler Clarksdale arrived, i knew I had a winner. You need to try it for yourself with your instruments and amps, but here is one sentence that should be enough of a description: the Wampler Clarksdale is the most useful, professional, serious and stunning drive pedal on the market. This is in my opinion the best money spent ever for a mature overdrive pedal. Mr. Wampler takes the cake!!

Amazing!

By Bill Bakopoulos from Chicago on May 2, 2015 Music Background: Recording Engineer, Pro Musician, Audiophile

I am blown away at the moment with this pedal. To go through a quick rig rundown, I have an ENGL Powerball with the matching ENGL 4x12 and I ran the pedal at the front of my chain. I tested it out with a 04' Les Paul Standard and my '57 Strat Reissue and I finally got that in between creamy blues tone that I've always wanted where it breaks up just right. I was considering spending significantly more on a vintage Screamer or one of those hand wired versions but decided to go with the Clarksdale to not break the bank and this pedal killed it! Very friendly with my amp and sounds amazing when used with my clean and crunch channels. Highly recommended to capture that vintage blues sound.

Wonderful OD

By Sweetwater Customer from Jefferson, TX on April 27, 2015

Sweetens up the tone on every amp I have. I have never owned a TS808 but this thing is wonderful. To get the stock TS 808 settings, put the Bass and Mids at noon and then the treble is the tone and the drive knob is the overdrive knob on the TS 808. Just adjust the treble and drive and you are set.

It give me that little bit that is missing with my amps alone and my amps alone are great. I have a Peavey 3120, 6534+, EVH 5150 III, and a VOX Night Train G2 50w.

I'm amazed that I don't see more positive reviews on this pedal.

A Blues Machine!

By Jeremy on April 5, 2015

Exactly what i was looking for. I prefer the 808 Circuitry, but the tube screamer and Maxon I own were a little more drive than i preferred. This pedal lets me get just a slight touch of OD that I like. The gain is very controllable, and the EQ adds more tone ability. A permanent fixture on my board.

Fantastic

High Quality Sound with all the right controls to get your sound to perfection. Give this Overdrive a test drive! It has the right stuff for the blues, country and some classic rock sounds. Loving it!

Best OD on the market

By David Soderquist from Grand Rapids MI on February 15, 2015 Music Background: Hobbyist.... Guitar hero... CT tech...

Very easily adjustable to find the tone you are looking for... Nice OD... Much better than the tube screamer... Warmer... More of the "IT" factor we all look for... Get one... You'll love it!!
The EQ section will make you smile...
Forrest Powell.... The man... He knows it.
I need to move... Quit my job.. Work for Sweetwater..... Guys? What do you think?

Clarksdale Delta OD

By David Soderquist from Grand Rapids MI on January 26, 2015 Music Background: Guitarist... Hobby... Tone freak... G.A.S. Specialist

I've had this pedal for a week now.. Just like Brian Wampler described. A better make of a tube screamer.. I use this in conjunction with (starting in order) Wampler ego compressor... Fulltone OCD.... Clarksdale... Cry baby... Super reverb....

Playing this with my American Strat... Simply put... THE ABSOLUTELY BEST TONE IVE EVER HAD!!!!!

Get one.. You will love it.... The EQ on the pedal alone makes for great adjustments on the fly due to room size... Weather... What have you.... I also believe that ran in conjunction with the OCD and the EGO COMP.. You would find the same satisfaction that I have..

SWEETWATER has always treated me well... Forrest Powell has been my salesperson for so long I consider him a friend now.... Great place... Great pedal....

The Tone I Was Searching For

This pedal is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Great blues tone.

Awesome!! Tube Screamer Killer!

By Kenny C. from Beaverton, OR on January 2, 2015 Music Background: Hobbyist, Composer, Producer, Former Performing Musician

I'm a big blues and country fan, so Tube Screamers are my bread and butter, but the Wampler Clarksdale Delta Overdrive has blown away my other tube screamers. There really is no comparison. The tone, the versatility, and the range of this pedal absolutely destroys any other TS9 or TS808 pedals you have. Frankly, with the Lift mode engaged and the mids scooped just a bit, it feels like my Strat and Twin become automatic SRV machines. :) I love this pedal and it's very inspiring to play. Don't wait, order one now! You won't regret it.

Perfect for my setup.

By Chris from Eureka on December 7, 2017 Music Background: Semipro Rocker

Very happy with this pedal. I use it in front of my Quilter MP2 amp, giving me lots of flexibility for OD tones. Really warm sounding, works well with the amps drive or clean channels. Really versatile pedal, just what I was looking for!

Outstanding

By Harry Porter from Croydon, PA on August 16, 2017

I love the clarksdale!! My pedal this order Boss tuner, TS-9 tube screamer with the keeled mod plus, had a keeley red dirt next but replaced it with clarksdale and so glad I did. The ts9 gain on 4 the tone at noon and level is at 10. The clarksdale all tone knobs at noon and the switch on smooth volume at noon and it gives a great srv type of sound that I love!!

Clarksdale OD

By Jeff from Hammond, IN on April 1, 2015 Music Background: 30+ years rock and blues

A very sweet sounding pedal. Great tones and works well with single coils, hummbuckers and other dirt pedals if you stack them. I used a tube screamer years ago, it was a let down. Never saw what the hype was about. This pedal kills! I've run it through my Egnater Rebel 30' my Blackstar HT 20 and my Vox Night Train and it sounds really, really great.

Sweet sounding pedal

By Jeff from Hammond, IN on March 9, 2015 Music Background: blues, classic rock, guitar and bass player.

I play a Strat, a Tele and a Les Paul through 2 Vox amps and a Blackstar, all tube powered amps.

I received my Clarksdale a week ago. I also own the Wampler Sovereign and the Euphoria. Both have wonderful tone second to none. In my 30+ years of playing rock and blues I have never played better sounding pedals that those 2 Wampler's. Now I include the Clarksdale in that statement.

I have never been a fan of the Tube Screamer. In fact, a friend loaned me his a few years back and to say I was not impressed is putting it mildly. The Clarksdale sounds great and has many different voices depending on where you set the dials and all of them are great. I was unable to find a sound I did not like.

Based on the quality of the tone from just these 3 Wampler pedals I don't think you could go wrong with anything Wampler offers and these 3 will always be on my pedal board.

Very Adjustable Tone

By Steve Comins from northern California on December 17, 2014 Music Background: started playing in 1964 in SF bay area. what a great time.

Huge variety with bass, mid, treble adjustment. right now i'm enjoying the bass and treble max and mid at min. not a tone I usually use so it's inspiring. feels like it's on the edge where picking dynamics are expressive. great clarity. have the feeling you can make this pedal your own distinct expression which is important, cheers.

Classic and more

By InkStained from Ohio on June 23, 2020 Music Background: Home player

If you're in a TS-overdrive mood, this pedal is worth your attention. It nails the smooth straight-ahead sizzle of a good 808 or TS-9 pedal, with worthwhile modifications that put it over the top.

Wampler knows overdrive and dirt in general. These folks can be trusted in that department (and others).

Clarksdale V2

By Sweetwater Customer from San Francisco on August 11, 2017

I wanted to retire my original ts 808 so I bought the Clarksdale to replace it. For the last 30 yrs it(808) has been my main overdrive pedal, the last 20 with a graphic eq after it. The Clarksdale comes close, but not quite the same. So... I now use them both along with a Dual Fusion. I'm very happy with the variations I get with stacking them different ways.

Wampler Clarksdale overdrive

By Sweetwater Customer on March 18, 2017

This Pedal doesn't really know if it wants to be a rock or blues or gain Pedal - really disappointing tone considering the EQ flexibility
