Exotic woods carved for beauty and comfort

The woods used throughout the active Cirrus 4 solidbody electric bass guitar are a blend of tried-and-true tonewoods and exotic pieces that offer a custom-shop aura to the bass. The wings of the body are made from alder, which has long been used in bass manufacturing for its lighter weight and even tone. A red oak top adds a bit more attack, and its reddish hues look outstanding. The body is carved with an extended upper horn, which helps the instrument balance flawlessly on a strap. And the deep cutaway allows great access to all 24 frets.

18-volt active electronics package

The dual active Peavey VFL humbucking pickups give the Cirrus 4 a powerful voice with a wide range of dynamic possibilities. The 18-volt preamp offers controls for volume and pickup blend along with 12dB of boost/cut for your bass, midrange, and treble frequencies. This is wonderful for either sculpting your signature sound or for being able to go from driven rock tones to round jazz-style sounds right from your instrument. The VFL electronics make the Cirrus 4 a great option for gigging bassists who need to cover a lot of ground.

Neck built for power and sustain

The heart and soul of Peavey's Cirrus 4 electric bass guitar is its multi-piece neck. Made from a combination of maple and mahogany, the neck is very stable. Its 35" scale length delivers a strong attack with a strong fundamental. This is a great design for lowered tunings. And bassists at Sweetwater are excited about Peavey's PowerPlate. Located on the back of the headstock, the PowerPlate adds mass to the neck which further enhances the bass's sustain. And it does away with any troublesome dead spots along the length of the fretboard.

  • Active 4-string bass with exotic wood appointments

Awesome Bass

I've been playing bass for 35 years and this is one of the best purchases I've made in all that time (and I've made a lot of purchases). I currently own 7 basses (Fender Jazz, MM Stingray, etc) and this is my go-to favorite. Super comfortable, erfectly balanced, slim neck and really easy to play. The tone is killer and cuts through a heavy guitar/loud drum mix perfectly. I currently use it in a hard rock band with one guitar player but I could easily use this in any situation. It came set up perfectly righ out of the box although I did adjust the intonation on the G string slightly. I can't say enough good things about this bass. I could easily (and might) buy another one. Did I mention Killer Tone? Sounds awesome even when not plugged in. I fell in love the first minute I picked it up and played it.
