Does exactly what you'd want

By Sweetwater Customer on March 30, 2022 Music Background: experienced player

Very well-made and musical chorus. If you want those 80s alt rock tones (Peter Hook, The Cure, etc) or just want your melodic playing to sparkle, this does a great job. Also does a great job creating a synth tone with some fuzz before it. The only "downside" for me is that it's heavy, because of the steel casing. That makes it very strong, so it's not really a serious con, but more a trade-off for strength.

Best bass chorus pedal hands down

What else do I need to say! Love this thing in my pedal board!

Great Pedal

By Verbass from Southern New England on November 23, 2018 Music Background: Semi Pro

Nice easy to control chorus. Adds that little something you miss from fretless recording. A blend control is a must on all of my effects as I don't necessarily want my sound drowned out in a bunch of excess noise. really a great feature allowing me to preserve my tone and add the right amount of flavoring.
Built well and quiet and the tones are spot on.
Recommend this one definitely.

Aguilar Chorosaurus Pedal, Good, Not Perfect

By Greg Phillips from Maryland on September 28, 2018 Music Background: Complete Hack.

I had been using the came chorus for well over a decade, and when it was damaged beyond repair, it was time to find a new one. As it is no longer manufactured, I had to select something different.

I already had an Aguilar compressor pedal that I really liked, so I decided to give the Chorusaurus a shot.

It is sturdy, with smooth controls and appears well-built from a durability standpoint, but I was not completely pleased with the range of rate control available.

I mostly use chorus to add some fullness to my bass sound, and even then, not that often, and even more rarely do I make use of an ~obvious~ chorus sound/effect. I was able to blend the sound, obtaining adequate width and intensity, but found the "Rate" to be a bit touchy, and still have not found the sweet spot between "too much and too little."

I find that I can have either a signal so close to clean of any effect that it really isn't useful, or one that sounds like full-on vibrato almost instantly when I begin to increase the Rate adjustment, that is likewise, not useful.

This is not to say I truly dislike the pedal. It is OK, and after some extended experimentation, I was able to get an acceptable signal form the device, but I did feel that it was a bit lacking in the one aspect that I discussed above.

For a pedal in this price range, it functions adequately, and I feel that you get your money's worth, but I don't know if I would buy another if the situation arose. I don't dislike it enough to return or exchange it, so I would at least have to give it a rating of "Good."

Great, thick chorus

By Garret G from LA, Ca on February 9, 2018

I love this Chorus pedal! In use with other Aguilar gear, I can say that you loose none of the bottom end with it, and it has a great classic chorus sound. If you want to go subtle with the pedal, and shallow the rate and width, but keep up the intensity, it really gets a sweet singing tone to your lines, especially if you are soloing or riffing higher up the neck. This is a versatile pedal!

Aguilar gear is top notch

By Bill McKenzie from Springfield, Illinois on July 10, 2017

I've had a few different chorus pedals, this one beats them all. It's range, sweep, and capacity to blend wet and dry is very dynamic and enriches both the fretted bass sound, and especially the fretless sound. If really gives a fretless bass that exact dimension of multi-voice and rich presence that a chorus should do. I recommend it highly!

Chorusaurus

By Andy from Tuscaloosa, Alabama on January 28, 2016 Music Background: Gospel - Metal and everything in between.

Hands down the best chorus I've ever used on bass. I've tried them all. MXR, BOSS, Tech 21, etc., which all have products I love and use, but Aguilar beat'em out on this one. It tracks great and has a really lush, thick tone. Great price too

Best bass chorus I've used

By Mike from Myersville, MD on October 1, 2015 Music Background: very part time bassist

Got one of these along with 2 sl112s and a Tone Hammer 350. Best rig I've owned and by far the best bass chorus. Does not destroy the low end as many chrous devices do. Even some that use a filter to exclude the low end don't work as well as this one. Really fills out my sound in a way that's difficult to describe.Norb assisted me with this rig and I am a happy customer.

Praise chorus

By Andy from Portland, OR USA on February 3, 2015 Music Background: Guitarist/bassist into live music

I primarily play guitar, but I play bass in a rockin' praise band. Our full band includes just one guitarist, keyboardist, and percussionist, but sometimes it's just guitar and my bass. So about a year ago I started to experiment with running my G & L 2000 through a chorus pedal to bring out the harmonics and fill in the mix, when needed. My old Boss CE-3 did a good job, but it's designed for guitar so the low frequencies didn't come through as much. I was also worried about blowing the CE-3's circuitry because my bass has a preamp and the pedal is vintage.

So I got the Chorusaurus at it works great and has the low frequencies! Like the Boss, if you set the rate control very fast at all you will get a noticeable pulsing vibrato that's probably better suited to a bass solo or a sci-fi soundtrack rather than a song. But keep the rate all the way down and out come the harmonics in a tone that is very usable and musical. There is no pulsing at the slowest speed and no worries about the rate versus the tempo of the song. And with the rate set on slow the other three controls all do cool things to your sound, and can be set practically anywhere with great results.

I also like the fact that there is NO volume knob (again like the CE-3) nor does it need one. Engage the chorus and volume and harmonics come up a little bit. There's no worries that the volume will jump dramatically when I step on the pedal because a volume knob was bumped. I already play fairly loud in the mix so I don't want any surprises. I almost gave this product a "4.5" because you need a stereo cable to access the stereo chorusing. It is a constraint. But I found my Stereo cable and I can see some advantages to designing it this way. Finally, it's cool that when running in stereo mode into two amps, you still feed both amps when switching off the chorus.
