Orange Crush Pro CR60C 1x12" 60-watt Combo Amp Reviews

60-watt 1x12" Combo Guitar Amplifier with Digital Reverbs, Effects Loop - Orange

Orange Amplifiers expands its line of solid-state Crush amps with new CR60C 60-watt 1 x 12" combo. This Crush amp delivers more authentic Orange tone than ever, with both amp channels being designed after the Rockerverb. The clean channel sports two gain stages that start to break up when it's cranked, and the dirty channel uses four gain stages to deliver classic Orange overdrive tones.

Tubes? We don't need no stinkin Tubes!

By Paul I from NC on February 12, 2024 Music Background: Semi-Pro before USMC

This is my second Orange Amp. My first was a Dual Dark head. Made in England. It was tough to choose a foreign Orange after that.

After buying this amp, I do not have the Dual Dark anymore.

If you know what THAT amp is, it says so much about how great THIS amp is. It is incredibly more versatile.

Maybe I didn't have the right appreciation for inherent gain but the EQ, clean or dirty, on the CR60 is far superior. Ease of use and the 'tone' (for lack of a better word, I hate that term) is much greater. You don't need tubes. This amplifier was built right.

Immediately after opening, I tried all of my pedals. Worried that some pedals were only for, or best with, tube amps, I was relieved. My main fuzz, a Fuzz Lord based Russian Muff was killer. It sounded better on the Crush than the Dual Dark! Boost? Do it. It's not just for pushing valves. Add some wah, reverb, echo, distortion, whatever you want. Does it all. And well!

I think it made me a better player. Definitely sparked more creativity.

Some homemade effects are a little noisy but it is not the amps fault.

The onboard reverbs are great. The hall reverb has been my go to. More prominent and better sounding than the plate and spring. It is a nice addition when other reverb types, echos, and delays are in the pedal chain.

This amp kills the tube vs solid state argument which is a joke to begin with. Seriously, it's dumb. Play well, sound well.

David Mikaudatze is a cool dude. Always been there. Quick to respond. Magical in making out of stock items appear. If I need or want anything NEW, it's coming from Sweetwater.

Love this amp!

By Bennett Ryckman from GRAND RAPIDS, MI on January 18, 2024

This was my first Orange amp and I could not be happier with it. The dirty channel is heavy when you crank the gain and the clean channel sounds great. I run my pedal board through the fx loop and everything works perfectly. Highly recommend this amp!

Best solid state amp... Period

By Bradley Etheridge from Whiteville, NC on October 24, 2023

I've been playing guitar for 23 years now and I've acquired more than my share of high gain distortion pedals and several amps to run them through but I gotta say the Orange CR60 is hands down the best pedal platform combo amp I've ever had the pleasure of coming across. The dirty channel is sweet but the clean channel is otherworldly when it comes to running effects pedals through. It captures the essence and tone precisely regardless what you run through it. The FX loop is a big plus too. I bought my first one about 6 years ago but lost it in a flood after hurricane Florence so after I got my bearings about I immediately purchased a replacement. In fact I recently bought the Super crush 100 head that I run through my PPC112 and it's just as impressive. Orange hit the nail on the head with these crush series amps. I'd recommend this amp to anybody. YOU ROCK ORANGE AMPLIFICATION!

Orange Crush

I bought the Orange Crush 60W as a Christmas present to myself. It sounds great and has plenty of power. I like the choices of reverbs. Best sounding solid state amp I've ever played

Crank it up !

By Ed from San Antonio, Tx on November 9, 2022 Music Background: 2 yrs experience, just started gigging

After buying and trying 4 different amps over the last year and a half, I've finally found my sweet spot. This Orange is perfect for me. I'm a 60+ yr old player with only 2 yrs experience and struggled trying to find the best amp for a novice like me who just started gigging. I previously used my Orange 35RT which I love, but couldn't really hear myself play. I considered a Boss Katana, a Fender Champion 50, but decided to go for it with the Orange Crush CR60C. It's simple, no nonsense, analog controls are perfect for me. The dirty channel puts forth thick, rich rock tones !!! For a chord strummer like me it was a home run ! Love it...

Love both channels

By Sweetwater Customer on August 7, 2022

This is a great amp. Min addition to a great sounding hi-gain channel, the clean channel is very full/deep. I tried a dozen or so different amps at Sweetwater in person and none had a rich clean sound that could touch this. Also the reverb on this amp is great — really no need for a reverb pedal. This is the ideal amp for someone like me who plays a lot of 80s and 70s classic rock/metal (Van Halen, AC/DC, Zep, dire straits) but also a lot of more jazzy/classical inspired tunes (like Dee by Randy Rhodes, 316, etc). Highly recommend

Exceeds ALL Expectations

By Rob S. from Illinois on October 12, 2020

I've had my CR60 for 5 days now. It has exceeded all of my expectations. I have an Orange Crush 20 and enjoyed it so much, I was pretty certain I'd be happy with the CR60 and specifically the dirty channel for blues. And I am. The Effects Loop is great for my time delay pedals. I had no idea they could sound so good. An I've found no need for any of my dirt pedals on the dirty channel. So nice to simplify my rig.

It is the clean channel that utterly surprised me. With just a treble and bass control, I didn't expect much, but wow! I have no regrets that I got rid of my problematic tube amp and went with Orange. So many great features and a reasonable cost. Love this amp!

Very Solid Solid State

By Chris from Pittsburgh on August 16, 2020 Music Background: Hobbyist

This is the Orange rockerverb with op amps in place of tubes. It is an awesome and quite versatile little combo that has a TON of gain on tap, but can do everything from nice cleans to blues crunch, to full-on metal. If you pop a boost or overdrive pedal in front of it, everything gets juiced up a notch. I will say that you have to tweak and mess with the EQ to really get an idea of what it can do. I'd recommend setting everything to the lowest setting and then tweaking from there. Dave Simpson's youtube channel has a lot of great guides on how to get different tones using only the amp (no pedals). He uses a CR120, but the idea is the same. This amp tends to run a bit dark, but as I said, you can tweak it quite a bit with the EQ.

Another thing to keep in mind is that this has a master volume and individual channel volumes. This means that you can control the amount of headroom and use this amp at very low volumes, notwithstanding the fact that it is a giggable amp (so I'm told--I don't gig). If you turn the channel volume all the way up and the master down to 1 or 2, you get an ear-friendly overdriven sound. I was able to get a really nice tweed fender sound out of this by doing that.

All in all, if you want a wallet-friendly and reliable amp (no tubes means nothing to break and replace), then give this amp a try. It is really awesome and can do so many different sounds. It takes pedals pretty well, but you really don't need to tweak too much to get good sound out of it. It doesn't have the myriad of settings and effects like a Katana, but its beauty is in its simplicity. You just set your tone and play.

Amazing !

By Rich Bell from IA on June 13, 2020

Love this amp ! Have the 35rt and it's a wonderful amp, but I needed something louder. Great build quality and unbelievable tone outta this amp...I'm in heaven. Nothin against tube amps, but I am very satisfied with Orange solid state amps...will never part with them, and about all I use anymore. Do yourself a favor and pick one of these up today, you won't be sorry. And TU Sweetwater ! You are the best in the business !!

Great Tones, No Frills

By Lou from Pennsylvania on May 17, 2020

This is a great amp. It's able to dial in a good clean tone, or heavy distortion without being too buzzy, and the reverb is way better than most other digital reverbs I've heard. I particularly like the clean channel pushed all the way with the master volume dialed back, which produces a nice gritty tone even at comfortable in-home volume. And it looks spectacular!

First and foremost, l have the best contact at Sweetwater, Justin Sunday. As we all know, no one is perfect. Things go wrong sometimes. Justin has always worked very hard to resolve any issues I have had. I was very surprised to find my Orange Crush amp at my door today. I love the amp. The sound is outstanding. I am very satisfied with my sales Engineer.

clean and powerful tone

By Ric Haworth from South Texas on November 23, 2019 Music Background: since 1966 non stop

I've had this amp about a year and a half. It's so easy to plug and play. It takes any pedal perfectly, and the amp accommodates any configuration. I did replace the speaker. I installed an Eminence Governor 16-ohm driver. Otherwise this amp is stock, and it sound great together.

The overall sound is closer to a Hiwatt 100 if comparing cleans. This is a wonderful box. And if I pass out, no worries. Groovy.

Amazing!

By Mike on May 6, 2019 Music Background: Weekend Warrior

I recently started looking for a solid state amp that I could use as a secondary amp. I gig a small tube combo a few times in month in a cover band, and this amp could easily be my number one.

This is my second orange Crush series (the first having been a CR-120 head that I owned a few years ago). With age I have decided to start downsizing my rig, and the 120 with a 4x12 cabinet just started to be too much to haul around. I replaced it with a small tube combo, but I purchased the CR-60 because I wanted a reliable solid state backup.

The difference between the CR-120 and the CR-60 are negligible. Both are modeled to sound similar to the Orange Rocker series tube amps, and both are very high quality, good sounding amps. If you are looking for the signature Orange sound, this will give it to you in spades.

This is a two channel amp. The dirty channel has pre-amp, bass, mid, treble, and volume controls. The clean channel has bass, treble, and a volume channel. In addition, the amp has a master volume. Coupled with the master volume you can go into slightly broken up territory on the clean channel by cranking the volume and reducing the master. The clean channel can have lots of overhead if you set it up as such (volume down, master up).

The dirty channel is very orange sounding. The preamp can go from mild grit to very distorted (however anything past 1 o"clock sounds a bit mushy and compressed). However, (much like the Rocker tube series) front this thing with a good OD, and you will find yourself instantly in sonic heaven. Orange recommends the Fulltone OCD overdrive, and I can see why. You can get very good hard rock tones with the CR-60 pre-amp set to about noon, fronted with a Fulltone OCD with the gain set to about 11 o"clock. I also tried fronting the amp with a tube screamer (both with some dirt dialed in, as well as with no dirt and the tube screamer volume wide open) and wasn"t nearly as impressed with the tube screamer fronting the amp.

The secret sauce here is the power amp. It responds very much like the Orange Rocker series tube power section. I"m not sure how Orange achieves this, suffice to say we are getting very close to solid state technology being sonically as good as tube amps.

The CR-60 reverb has three (digital) settings, Plate, Hall, and Spring) and all sound very good.

The amp sports a buffered effects loops that sounds great, as well as foot-switch jacks for both reverb and channel. The send, return, channel, and reverb jacks are all located on the bottom of the amp"s head (as opposed to the back of the amp). I have mixed feelings on this. It"s definitely harder to plug into them when they are located underneath, but it also works much better for placing the amp on a tilt back stand.

I love that while this amp is solid state, its build quality is every bit as good as any tube amp I"ve owned (many over 20 years of playing). The Orange Voice of the World speaker does good at gig volumes, although I might try to throw a V30 into it, just to see how it does.

Overall I"m very pleased with this amp. If you are considering this or the CR-120 I can tell you (from experience) they pretty much sound identical. In a rock band setting I have found that I didn"t need the 120 Head or 2x12 combo for the extra volume……however the 2x12 or head with 4x12 cabinet will obviously push more air. If you mic the amp you will do fine with the CR-60.

BTW, I initially purchased a Boss Katana based on all of the hype, but returned it for the Orange CR-60. The CR-60 is far better sounding, and much easier to use in a live format.

Great amp. You won"t be disappointed.

Love it

By Derek Rineberg from IL on March 26, 2019

A great amp. Very clean and nice distortion Channel, good reverb built in as well. Sounds significantly better than the 35 W orange amp. Also sounds much better than most 50W amps I have tested. Just purchased the other day and am very happy

Orange for "Sure"

By Gary P from Weaverville, NC on September 20, 2018 Music Background: play for personal enjoyment

I've owned several high end amps from Sweetwater, tube and solid-state. I had the Orange CR120C 2x12 which was a great amp. I sold it simply to downsize and bought the CR60C. I also have the Orange Rocker 30 2x10 tube amp. I think Orange is terribly underrated. This amp, along with its big brother the CR120C is a full, warm, not brittle, sounding solid-state amp. I play it more than I do my tube amps. It's built like a tank, simple to use and simply sounds great for any style of music. And, you don't have to worry about tubes, etc.. This is not a modeling amp. It's pure solid-state "Orange" sound with two channels and the reverb is very good. If you're tired of lugging tube amps around, and the price of them, give this amp a try. I think you'll be very pleased. Do yourself a favor and order the FS-2 footswitch with it allowing you to switch between channels and reverb. Well worth the investment.

On the fence

By Skip from Murfreesboro on April 10, 2018 Music Background: 30 years, mostly metal

The amp itself is amazing. Super solid, heavy, sounded amazing.... for specific genres. To further explain: I"m a minimalist so other than a decimated and a tuner, my pedals are a wah and delay and that"s it. I am not a fan of pedals. Now, I tried this thing out numerous times in random stores and I liked it but it was at lower volumes and not with guitars similar to mine. I got a micro terror and it blew me away so I wanted to upgrade the orange collection slowly. It seemed to work best with my jazz master baritone with p90"s. It just growled. Did really good with my other single coil guitars. With my humbucker guitars, it was just a fuzzy mess. This may be good with pedals or single coil guitars but I couldn"t get past the fuzz. Just wasn"t working for my setup. The return was no issue. I"m more of a modern metal guy so I think it was just an impulse buy to work with something different. No worries. I still think orange nailed this amp for specific players just not me.

this orange crushes

By terry from Philadelphia on March 20, 2018 Music Background: professional stage and studio guitarist , and record producer

I have 2 of these , I use them both for stereo . It's a very simple set-up .... the amps into a digitech rp500 processor. I don't use the amp sims ( why would ???? that's why i have the Orange amp ). I also only use the clean channel. With all that said ,this amp is just amazing . I have to play in a lot of styles, and this amp works for all of them . Clean reliable, sweet tonal qualities that give a special (Orange) flavor to everything , especially when using effects in stereo (very full , and rich sounding ). This is a wonderful sounding , very simple to use and easy to set up your tone just using the bass ,treble knobs.....Using either one seperately or both this is a truly great amp.... And as for it being solid state, well if that's your preference (as it is mine ) you'll love this one.

ORANGE ROCKS!!

By Donovan Btz from San Antonio on March 6, 2018 Music Background: Guitarist

This is a nice amp. It has great cleans and gain channels. It is someone dark. THis dark sound is good for many styles however in order for it to be more versatile I connected a MXR 10 band equalizer in the effects loop. I would say almost any good equalizer will brighten it up. It is solid and eye candy and I love it.

Orange Crush Pro CR60C

By DNM from Maplewood, MN on June 12, 2017 Music Background: Amateur

I got this amp locally through a gear trade, but would have bought it from Sweetwater otherwise. I wanted an analog solid state combo, and Orange is one of few that make them. Most solid state amps produce their sound digitally. The only thing digital in this Orange Crush Pro CR60C is the reverb (plate, hall, spring). The two channels, Clean and Dirty, are completely analog, no digital anything. My Roland Cube 40GX is nothing but digital; even the Clean channel is an emulation via the DSP chip. This Orange CR60C has no speaker/cab emulation or headphone jack, no tuner, no Aux in for your phone or tablet, as some of the lower wattage Orange Crush amps have. The CR60C can be played at volumes lower than that of an unplugged electric guitar. You don't need headphones to play this amp politely. The Dirty channel offers a wide range of distortion. I like it. If you don't want the hassle of a tube amp, but you dislike digital amps, the Orange solid state amps are an excellent choice; and one of the few.

Oh Yeah

By Sweetwater Customer on May 17, 2017

Yeah this is it, that smile you can't hide when you hear AND feel that power and tone and you think oh yeah, there it is. Takes pedals great but really you have everything you need in the box it's that good, it's that great!

Great Amp

By Jason from VA on June 29, 2016 Music Background: Long time Semi-Pro Drummer, Guitarist in the making

I am a drummer by trade and have been learning guitar for about the last year and wanted to upgrade from the cheap beginner amp that I had bought used. Overall I think it is an awesome amp for the money. I like the simplicity of the dials for each channel, it is built to last, and will probably be the only amp I will ever need. The bonus channel and reverb pedal are great too. Two rugged switches that do what they are suppose to. Access to FX loop input, power cord, and extension cabinet ports are little awkward to get to but other than that it's solid. I'm no expert on the nuances of tube vs. solid state, but what I can tell you is that both channels sound great. I originally want to get the Orange Dark Terror for the gain, I have found that this amp has plenty of gain for my needs. I had placed my order online without the help of a SW rep. but that did not stop A.J. from giving me a call to let me know that he had seen the order, let me know it was being processed and let me know that if there was anything else that could be done just to let him know. Thank you A.J. for your continued support over the last year. It is customer service like this that makes Sweetwater the best place to buy gear; hands down.

Orange AMP - Fantastic

By Sweetwater Customer on June 11, 2016

I was real excited to order this amp and was only able to do so because they had a payment plan of three easy payments. The amp is everthing I expected and more. It has that rocking distortion that I've come to love. I previously bought a smaller Orange amp and all I can say is you'll be glad you bought this amp. It's loud and crystal clear. No hum or noise on this one - just great music.

Giant Killer

By Kevin Birge from Moberly Missouri on December 9, 2015 Music Background: longtime player, light gigging.

This is a solid state amp. That carries with it a lot of negative stereotypes. This is also a great amp, a classic amp, one of the best amps with solid state electronics ever built. You have a clean channel that breaks up into a gorgeous light overdrive when you push it, and a dirty channel that simply has to be lived with a while to be believed. That dirty channel will send all your od, distortion, and fuzz pedals straight to ebay, because no matter how good they sound, your guitar straight into this amp is always gonna sound better. You can dial in anything from T Rex to Black Sabbath, and a few things you never imagined. Add a slapback echo and roll the gain back to about 9 O'Clock, plug in a Strat, and it sounds like Buddy Holly plugged into Marc Bolan's stack. Nice indeed. The 60 gets stupendously loud, as well, if you need it to. Unless you are gigging larger rooms, you won't be needing the 212 or head/stack version of this beast. The bad news is, Orange appears to have discontinued the combo versions. If you were thinking of getting one of these, I'd do it now while there is still inventory out there waiting to be sold. They will vanish, and then these things are going to start developing a following as people slooooowly figure out what an amazing, giggable, gorgeous sounding amp this is. You wouldn't think two channels, three reverb models, and an FX loop would equal this much versatility, but it does. The depth of the dirty channel, the impressive sweep of the eq knobs, and the ability of the clean channel to overdrive add up to more than the sum of the parts. Best amp I've ever owned, and I've owned some really good amps down through the years. This amp will walk all over a lot amps that cost three to four times as much.

JUST BUY IT !!!

By Chris from Lake, MS on September 29, 2015 Music Background: Amateur professional?

No nonsense two channel, bad to the bone amp! I am simply amazed at this being solid state and my buddies are jealous when they are replacing tubes and adjusting bias and all I do is show up and plug it in and play. No tube warmup or cool down procedures either.

Plenty O loud but the cr120 combo would've been my choice for the stereo sound of two speakers but I am very satisfied.

Can an audiophile tell the difference in this solid state vs tube while blindfolded....maybe?

Will a Lamen listening to your demo or live performance be able to tell? Don't be ridiculous

Orange flavor is oozing from this amp and the spring reverb is STUPID good.

I'm telling you this amp is so bad it's good! Buy it for a stage backup or for your main rig today

Great value

By Horse owner that doesn't play country from Bristol, WI on April 15, 2015 Music Background: Neighborhood musician

First off, I didn't buy this amp from Sweetwater, but their ad popped up on the screen. I decided to respond as this really is a good amp.

Was replacing an older Kustom hybrid amp and went to the local store looking for a Vox AC-15. The Vox amps just didn't seem right for me. The store owner plugged me into the CR-60 while I was complaining that the Orange Amps were nothing but doomer rock amps. Ended up buying the amp.

The amp really surprised me, the clean channel is really nice. When you turn it up, it will have break up. You only get bass and treble on that channel. If that isn't enough, your guitar has a tone control. Right and don't forget you can run an EP pedal into the front or into the loop.

The gain channel, well, it sounds like an Orange Amp. Turn the gain up and imagine that you are in an underground sewer with a huge ball of fuzzy goo coming in your direction.

So far, clean channel is a win. Gain channel is pure Orange. My biggest objection came when I ran it with my chorus pedal and another amp. The Orange's clean channel seemed to a rug thrown over the over the speaker.

The game was on. Could the clean channel be improved. The Orange News to the World speaker might be the weak link. After talking this over with others, I decided to try an Emmence Governor. This is Emence's take on the Celestion V30.

The speaker switch was well worth it. The notes on both channels are clearer, have more separation, and definition. The clean channel has some more warmth. The gain channel still develops some fuzz and it now has oxygen - acetylene torch cutting flame in the center.

Really great amp and fun to play off the shelf.
A new speaker can tailor the amp to your tastes if needed.

A Monster in a box

By David from Ohio on March 28, 2014 Music Background: Musician, Songwriter

First off I bought this Amp because I currently have a Marshall DSL which I love. I wanted something a little smaller to just plug in and play without sacrificing tone. Wanted to try something different. And that's exactly what you get with the Orange cr60c. Best way to describe it is very gritty and crunchy. Don't get me wrong I love my Marshall. The Marshall has more clarity or high end sound. The Orange is down dirty raw drag you through the mud getting scraped by rocks along the way distortion. Took a day or two for me to get use to the tone (I'm hooked) can't wait to start recording with it. I have had solid state amps before but not like this .If you're looking for a cover for the cr60c the 112 Orange extension cab cover will fit this amp...
Rock on Sweetwater

Love it!!!

By Babbie from Long Lake, NY USA on December 18, 2013 Music Background: Guitar player/drummer

I really love this amp! I'm a die-hard tube freak, or so I thought, this baby has changed my mind. I have a Rocker 30 head and various Fender tube amps, heads and combos. I love the clean of the Fenders and the dirty of the Orange head. Somehow this little Crush has given both to me in a single amp. It has a decent speaker and it's quite light. The heft of the amp comes from the weight of the speaker. It's a 16 ohm speaker. The effects loop is a great feature too. It gets rid of any hiss/noise you might get from going through the front. I've added my tuner, a Blues Driver, and a Carbon Copy to the loop. Blues Driver just for a different flavor on the fly. Oh also, it reacts just like a tube to pick attack and your guitars volume knob. I love it!

Almost perfect

By Brett Borman from Prospect Park, PA on January 29, 2021

Listen ladies and gentlemen. This is by far the best solid state amplifier I have ever owned. Orange kept it super simple with two channels and left out all the unnecessary fluff. The clean channel is crystal clear and super dynamic to pick attack. The overdrive channel provides a wide range of sounds from crunch to screaming metal lead. The three reverb options (plate, hall and spring) sound awesome. You get an FX loop as well. BTW this amp pairs very well with pedals. 60watts and a 12" speaker not loud enough? Don't worry you have an extension cabinet port too be able to blow the doors off the place!

The only downsides and I'm really stretching here are that the foot-switch is sold separately and there's not a line out to console. If these are deal breakers for you then rethink your checklist because you want this amp. No, you NEED this amp.

Happy music making everyone!

Everything an amp should be

By Aaron J from Indianapolis, In on February 14, 2018 Music Background: Project player

If you didn't know that it isn't a tube amp, you'd never guess otherwise. This is my first Orange amp, and I think I may be a lifer now! Even the three (digital) reverb selections are incredible. It goes from crispy clean to thunder-monkey crusty grease stained grungies like a dream! I dare say you could play most any style on it. The only downside is that it doesn't have a line out or headphone jack. For an amp that pumps nads like this, those are small sacrifices! Thanks to Chris and Christian for all their help and being great guys to work with! Sweetwater is great!

HEAVY BUT GREAT SOUND

By Sweetwater Customer from Southern California on July 9, 2016 Music Background: I play out. Blues and country.

I won't repeat the other reviews. This is a great sounding solid state amp. I only use the clean channel up to when it starts to tube breakup. My buddies describe the sound as "BIG". I use it for blues and country. I am done with tube amps personally. This nails tube sound good enough for places I'll play.
(One tube buddy this week had a tube going bad at his gig. His amp sounded awful. He was not happy)

Plus: Sound. The controls are easy to SEE on stage. Not like the Fender silver plates that are impossible to see on stage. It doe not have bells and whistles of amp simulations and unneeded effects. The reverbs are all nice. I personally like the plate reverb. There is nothing wrong with the speaker. It may be a real close knock off of a Vintage 30 and it is not cheaply made. There is nothing cheap about the construction. Big rubber feet keep it off the floor. Again the sound and ability to dial in what you need is great. If you are not a big fan of the Orange drive sound just use an overdrive of your choice.

Now for the Negatives: The thing is heavy for what it is. The control panel faces UP. There is no reason it could not face forward so you could work with it better on stage. That would also allow the cabinet to be not as deep and save some weight. But it is clean Orange looking from the front. The control box is made of heavy steel. Not thin pot metal. It could be lighter in weight. However it and the components are built like a tank. There is nothing cheap inside this amp.

In all this is a simple control solid built great sounding amp. Plenty of volume for any club. I bought it with out trying one out based on all the you tube reviews. Not because it was light weight but for the sound.

This is no modeler

By Jared from Houston on February 3, 2016 Music Background: Worship, hobbyist

Simply put, this is an amazing amp. No disclaimer or qualifier here. Not "for the money" or "for a solid state." It is genuinely a terrific sounding amplifier. I played my first gig with it and it was flawless. I should define gig as played mic'd up in a medium sized auditorium. I rehearsed in a smaller space with no mic and a drummer that was having anger issues. No problem keeping up at all. No loss of clarity, no mush...just a great tone.

It is an analog amp. No tubes. I was split between this and the JC-40 and elected to go with the Orange based on my preference for more rock oriented and gritty approach to my playing. It's still worship music, but I like to operate right a break up and the dirty channel on the Orange has it in spades. What Roland does right for cleans, Orange has done with dirt in a solid state amp. The clean channel is absolutely useable. With my Strymon DIG in the effects loop and the onboard reverb, I had no issues getting some terrific ambient transitions. I do run a Boss Waza Bluesdriver in front for lead lines, but that's just for the boost in volume. The actual tone of the amp is terrific.

I wanted an amp that was durable (because I'm destructive), had a very consistent tone and could be played at home for personal practice, with a drummer live or mic'd. Finally, this amp sounds like Orange, or more importantly, I can create my own tone using my gear and technique and color it Orange. That may be the most tube-like quality it possesses; highly recommended.

Orange you glad you read this

Transistor consistencies, clean/ overdrive sounds that I personally like. It's orange so it shouldn't get lost on the stage. Great compact footprint. Price point is reasonable. Ability to sound good at low and higher volume A+

So what's not to like. It's a bit heavier than I would like it to be. I'm not a fan of having to turn the amp upside down to see all the features (effects loop, foot switch, etc. The last thing is something is rattling around the cabinet of the amp..,,perhaps an errant speaker screw? I'm not sure what it is but, just a bit worry some.

I've played better amps but this is good value for the money.

Try it first

By Scott on June 6, 2018

I've had it for about 7 months, and it gets regular use either in my bedroom or mic'd..

The amp is heavy, however I think it is acceptable as the build quality is phenomenal and very robust. The amp is loud, but can require some fine tuning with the channel volumes when turning down the gain or switching to clean as this causes quite a bit of volume loss. The reverb is excellent, and I like having different variations - they each seem useful for different situations. EQ works well. The effects loop is handy, except you pretty much have to tip the amp on its front in order to see the labels for the jacks on the back.

I seem to be the odd one on this amp as I think the clean channel is excellent whereas the dirty channel lacks in some areas. The clean channel is sparkly, well defined, dynamic, and clear. It doesn't break up much, but you can get some slightly overdriven clean sounds from the dirty channel if you prefer. The dirty channel can also provide enough gain to melt your face. However, I find the sound to be pretty muddy and a little shrill at high volumes - this is probably actually the speaker. I haven't swapped it, but I have seriously considered it. It does tend to sound like it has a blanket draped over it. It sounds very nice at low volumes, however.

I think this is a good amp, and I am really curious to see how it performs with a different speaker. I am just not a fan of the stock voice of the world. The amp can handle probably any genre. It takes effects well, and is extremely robust.

Great all around amp

By Sweetwater Customer on January 22, 2018 Music Background: Rock, Blues, some punk

Great amp that does everything you could ever want it to do. Plenty loud also. Having replaced an older Marshall DFX250; the tones and reverb on this amp are MUCH improved. As good as a true tube amp? Not so much, but for the cost, you can't beat it. Only drawback I can say is the dual channel footswitch is extra.

This is good

By Sweetwater Customer on November 22, 2015

I've had this amp for about a year now. I bought it because my bull*?@t tube amp couldn't hold itself together. It's there (and ready) whenever I plug into to it. The tones are smoother and more articulate than what my tube amp could think to offer. If you just need a reliable partner, ready to play every time you plug in, then you can't go wrong with this amp.

Great amp

By J. Lambrecht from N.Y. on September 21, 2015

This amp packs a pretty good punch. The gain channel has the right amount of crunch and the clean channel works great with my effects pedals. The built in reverb sounds great. I have never played the tube Orange amps so I really can't compare them but the price was right on this one and I like it a lot. As always, the Sweetwater service was top notch. Baba booey to you all.

Good Amp

By Sweetwater Customer on June 28, 2015

I don{t own this amp, in fact for most of my life I have played tube amps and I love tube amps. I had the opportunity to play this amp at a local store. This amp is really good. You can play clean which for the most part I prefer. However, you get great distortion from this amp as well. At this price, this amp is a very good buy I would recommend it. I'm very impressed with Orange Amps. I saw a guitarist from the band the Toadies use on to great effect. In my opinion, this is an amp worth checking out.

Orange may be king of solid state

By Mark lester from Winter haven, Fl on December 19, 2013 Music Background: Working musician

I love tube amps. We all do right? However as I get older I am getting to where I want eq that is lighter and requires less fuss.

A while back I had a 35 watt solid state Orange Crush combo and a 15 watt tiny terror combo. When I would A/B I was always surprised at how
similar they sounded. The Tiny terror just did not sound that much better
unless I hooked it up to a 2x10 Orange cab....than it rocked.

So since I loved the 35 watt crush for the lightness and the $250 price tag, I thought I would try the 60 watt Orange Crush.

Bottom line.....a 30 watt or higher Orange head through a 2x10 or 4 x10 cab is going to sound better than this 60 watt Orange Crush. But what have you spent? $2,000.

At $500 the 60 watt orange crush will give you a very respectable sound with plenty if volume to play with a band in a club. And as well known as Orange is known for tube amps, I think their solid state may stand above other brands of solid state even more than their tube amps. Yes, their tube amps are great, but most any high end tube amp will sound good from any company. But when you compare Orange Solid state to other brands of solid state in the same price range, Orange is clearly superior to my ear.

The 60 watt crush like 35 watt has a gain knob which works in conjunction with the volume knob in a similar fashion to their tube amps and it allows their solid amps to get a certain shimmer and pleasant break up that most solid state don't seem to do. In fact it is very similar to how the Tiny Terror breaks up.

The 60 watt Orange Crush also has a second channel with two gain knobs and volume if you want to get the really heavy distortion. I personally use the clean channel with pedals.

This amp also has 3 kinds of reverb....hall, plate, and, spring and they are not bad.

So bottom line, if you are a pro making good steady money playing out and can afford $2500 for eq and don't mind lugging around lots of equipment and changing tubes, by all means get the Rockverb.

But for $500, the 60 watt Orange crush will give you plenty of volume in a fairly light package and a 90% if that tube Orange sound. Is that extra 10% of tube sparkle worth another $1,000 and carrying heavy gear? That is what you have to decide.

But for $500, I can't imagine anyone being disappointed. You get a decent British sound loud enough to gig with and without the hassle and weight of tubes. And it looks super cool. Dollar for dollar a very good amp and I feel confident saying it will blow away all other solid state amps.

Orange cr60c

By Bruce from Hicken on September 27, 2016 Music Background: Hobbyist

This amp was a quality product, solidly built and quite heavy for a Solid State. The gain channel sounded great on its own but I ultimately returned the product because the clean channel was very dark, even with treble dimed and bass almost off. If you are looking for a clean sound with any lightness or air this is not the product for you. If you like a harder distorted sound and don't have the funds for a tube Orange or Marshall etc this is exactly the product for you.

As always Sweetwater service is top shelf, no issues returning the product. I was looking for a solid state amp that was a quality product, i.e. not a starter or purely a practice amp. Ultimately I ordered a different product - Roland JC40 - after a chat with my engineer Aaron and I'm pretty happy with it.

Save your money; GET A FENDER

By R.W.Milyard from Fort Mohave, AZ on February 18, 2015 Music Background: Professional drummer. Hobby guitar, bass, keyboards.

As the title says; save your money and get a Fender Mustang III V.2 (100 watt), or better yet, the Fender Mustang II V.2, or better yet, the Fender Champion 40 (40 watt).
While the Orange does have an OK sounding dirty channel, where gain control volume can be turned way down, that's about where it ends.
The amp is close to 45 Lbs., which is VERY HEAVY for a 1x12 solid state amp., and is wider than it has to be.
The controls are located at the top/back of the unit which is hard to get to if pushed up close to a wall for practice.
The Clean Channel offers NOTHING, and is as milk toast as it can get, which means the speaker is just OK.
I have a lot of new amps from Mesa, Fender (most of my amps), Roland, Marshall, Line 6, Vox, Etc., Etc., and this amp kinda falls
into a boutique-ish one jump chump category that makes it above average for overdrive applications, and close to useless for everything else.
I actually get much, much better overdrive out of my Champion 40, and Mesa V-twin Pre-Amp pedal.

Oeange CR60 A Total disappointment

By Ron Schwartz from Orlando Fl on November 30, 2022 Music Background: Recording musician

Just purchased this amp with the highest of expectations..first, it's heavy as a pregnant elephant,, which is ok because the cabinet seems to be well constructed,,The speaker itself is not heavy,,nor is the amp...Secondly,,The reverb is absolutely horrid,,a micro switch offers three different reverb voices. The "spring" vairiety is the only one worth trying, but all three are very cold sounding and overall sound like a cheap solid state amp from the 70's...Next,,The clean channel offers bass and treble,,NO mid,,and the output of the clean chammel is considerably weaker that the dirty channel,,which makes A-B switching somewhat impractical..this is not an overly powerful amp, which is ok for me,,I didnt want to but if your looking for loud, you might be disappointed with this one.. The dirty channel is equally disappointing..the overdrive is noisy and artificial sounding.. The tone of this loser is the greatest let down of all..there is no brightness. the sound is muddy, and lifeless..This amp is a complete waste of money. unless you are playing solid grunge type material, this amp is definitely not for you. as a blues, classic rock, country, or jazz amp, the CR60 is a complete loser..

Noise

By John Kopchia from Michigan on July 19, 2022 Music Background: many decades

This amp generates a lot of noise on the gain channel and the gain channel is 3 times louder than the clean side. I have to run clean side only with my Origin Cali 76 to boost the clean side. It sounds passable at then. Using it as an amp to switch back and forth between channels will work okay if you don't turn up beyond 12 0 clock or half power... afterwards the noise kicks in. I think it may require being mic'ed to be useable at higher levels where the P.A. does the work... I was looking for a lighter amp to gig with my Blues DeVille is heavy... but I wasted my money on this purchase. Still using the old heavy tube amp... I did try a the CR60 amp out locally and some of the sounds were really good... in their specially designed amp room... I am stuck with it but I can always use it if I have an emergency develop... I would have rather had a Fender Champion 100 than the Orange CR60... My opinion for what its worth
