    Really great Midi Pad Controller

I've been doing a lot of research to find a cheaply priced yet quality pad controller for my DAW. I have a Korg Nano pad which gives me fits due to the pads failing and or being inconsistent which is why I'd been looking in the first place. I found that there is not a lot of options out there and had been considered buying one of the Akai models. I also heard that there is a lot of variability with the pads there too. Then I came across this controller. I know Steinberg makes some pretty good stuff based on an external USB sound module that I have and considering all of the reviews were simply great I gave it a try and have not been disappointed. My DAW is Sonar X2 and it work totally awesome there laying down drum tracks much more accurately than using a keyboard controller. The unit is small which is great because you don't have to move your fingers to far to cover all 16 pads. The lights around the pads are neat to and provide immediate feedback by changing colors depending on how much force you put on the pads which corresponds to velocity. I love this pad as it is easy to program to whatever key you want the individual pads to correspond to.

    Excellent Piece of Equipment

I am just starting to get into audio recording, and wanted a drum pad that works with Cubase. Being manufactured by Steinberg, this was an excellent choice. The pads themselves have a nice feel to them, and you don't have to mash your fingers against the pads to get a response like you have to do on similar products. I also like the additional control functions that Steinberg added onto the pad that allow you to make quick adjustments in Cubase. I did have a little mishap when installing the drivers, but it was nothing serious. Overall, I like this product and I plan on purchasing additional Steinberg control surfaces in the future.

    Just get it!

You will need a free USB port for each module. I was under the impression that they could be daisy chained together (an assumtion... the specs never stated this to be the case). Also, the stand collapses if you push forward too hard. It should have a locking mechanism.

That being said - the device is very well constructed. The materials are solid, the feel is natural and the size is perfect for my needs.
