Schoeps Colette Series Stereo Set MK21 Modular Small-diaphragm Condenser Microphone Pair with Wide Cardioid Capsules Reviews
When combined with a Schoeps capsule, the CMC 6 provides a flat, natural response with excellent protection from RF interference. The CMC 6 adjusts itself automatically from 12V to 48V depending on what the microphone amplifier is connected to, which is particularly handy for mobile recording where you're recording on battery power. The CMC 6 is a no-nonsense microphone body that uses symmetrical, transformerless, direct-coupled circuitry for premium sound. What you've got here is a pair of CMC 6 microphone amplifiers paired with MK 21 wide cardioid capsules.

Schoeps MK21 is a Life Time Investment!
I've used these (MK21) for a few years, one at a time, and as a stereo pair (usually spaced pair), and usually like them even better than the other Schoeps capsules I own (MK2, MK4, MK41) — which is saying a lot since all the Schoeps capsules are amazing — detailed yet warm. I also like DPA, which I consider detailed and cool. In the studio I use all the "usual" mics including various Neumann, AKG, Rode, etc., and tube and ribbon and dynamic, etc. But my "desert island" pair would have to be two of these Schoeps MK21.
Remember that they are a "more directional omni", so you can get pretty good room rejection, yet they are more forgiving than a normal cardioid directional. I've used them within a foot or two of woodwinds, acoustic guitars, etc., and also back 10' or more from acoustic groups (string quartet, blue grass group) or a drum set. Absolutely world class.
