Irresistible looks and playability

Time-tested PRS tonewoods - a balanced mahogany body, designer maple top, and velvety rosewood fingerboard - with a fast new maple neck give the CE 24 a warm and balanced sound with a look you won't be able to keep your hands off. Sweetwater guitarists are big on the CE 24's thinner body and more comfortable top carve, which feel great against the wrist and forearm for strumming.

Bolt-on maple neck captures the excitement of the original

Fans of the original CE series from the 1980s to the 2000s will feel right at home playing the updated PRS CE 24's bolt-on maple neck. The CE 24 plays a lot like a Custom 24, but has a woodier attack and sharper bite you can really dig into. Whether you play blues leads or rock 'n' roll rhythms, Sweetwater guitarists are sure the PRS CE 24 has a sound for you.

Versatile 85/15 pickups for 6 humbucker/single-coil sounds

Modern-voiced with vintage characteristics, the CE 24's coil tapped humbuckers sound great for rock and pop, indie, metal, or punk. A push-pull pot lets you transition from scorching metal leads to sweet California twang on the fly.

Amazing tone

I ordered this guitar blind, expecting a fine guitar. I usually play Fender style guitars, always single coils, and I thought this would be the Fender man's Gibson or something. Anyway, the truck came I was so excited. I was bummed I got a gig bag, but I opened it anyway and there is was. Yes, whale blue is a very good color. If you like oceans and things. My virgin lick on the guitar was a flamenco chord and I can't play flamenco, so that was a good sign. Anyway, I plug in through two blackface type amps in stereo. I'm awed by what I hear. With the hum buckers split, you get such a lovely glassy brilliance, not quacky like a strat, more gain, more intensity. In the treble position, it's like a Gibson man's tele. In the full humbucker mode you get power and punch kind of like Gibson's and other like guitars. But there's no muddy dark mid range mess, it's still rings clear and tight. That's it- it's tight, very present. If you make a mistake, it will be heard. Anyway, I have another PRS custom 22 with 3 soapbar pups and love that one as well. When I received the guitar, the action was very high and i was rather shocked. Why? It's never happened before. I brought it down, just low enough, barely, but found online that other's have had issues with this with this model. It's a bit buzzy on the low e. I'm a bit nervous, because the neck is straight. Anyway, caveat emptor. All in all though, it's not a Fender, it's not a Gibson, but for me the ultimate Tertium Quid, latin for the 'third thing'. It's like if I took my strat and les Paul and forced them to have ukuleles, they'd grow up into this guitar, greater than the sum of the parts. Now I want a neck through body with these pickups, they're making me smile uncontrollably. Last thing I never saw a less than 41/2 star review for anything anywhere on this site, so I figured sweetwater was pulling the negatives, but I've since run across, like, 2 negative reviews. I'm still a bit suspicious. Let's see what they do with this one! If they don't run it, I'll let everybody know. Somehow.

The Only Guitar I Need

After playing guitar for about 13 years, I decided that it was time to liquidate my collection of low-to-mid level guitars (my "best" guitar thus far had been a Schecter Solo-6 Classic) and get what I had been wanting for a long time — a PRS. I was pretty sure my old guitars wouldn't collectively sell for enough to pay for a Custom 24, but after a little research (I hadn't been in the market for a new guitar in years) I discovered that PRS had brought back the CE... I was a little skeptical of a bolt-on neck, but then I realized, half of my current guitars were bolt-on and they were just fine. I happened to be looking to buy at the same time that Sweetwater had a great financing deal, so I jumped on it. And boy, am I glad I did! This beautiful guitar arrived, and it is by far the best-feeling guitar I've ever gotten my hands on. Yes, it sounds great. Yes, it has more sustain than any of my other guitars could hope to achieve. Yes, the flame maple top is gorgeous in its Whale Blue stain. But what really surprised me is how it *feels*. It just feels perfect. The satin finish on the neck is so smooth, it's like it *wants* to be played well, rather than putting up a bit of a fight like a lot of gloss finish necks I've played. The shape of the neck — thin, but a little wide — works perfectly for my rather large hands and stubby fingers. I consider myself to be a bit of a "clunky" guitarist. I technically know what to play, but my large fingers and general clumsiness tend to work against me. This guitar, while not some miracle worker, fits me so well that I've already noticed that the frequency at which I hit the wrong note or slide to the wrong fret, or just jumble up my picking, has pretty drastically decreased. The CE 24 has singlehandedly reinvigorated my love for playing. I was honestly worried before the CE arrived that it wouldn't be "better enough" compared to my other guitars to justify the price, but that worry, it turns out, was completely unfounded. I'm sure there are "better" guitars out there, maybe, but as far as I'm concerned, the PRS CE 24 is perfect for me.

Have you ever owned a guitar that you should never gotten rid of? That was my 1989 PRS CE 24, but I was so tempted by a Gretsch Country Gentleman, WRONG. Saw that Sweetwater had 48 month financing, looked at all the PRS, and fell in love with the Whale Blue CE 24, choice of 4 in the pictures. Sean is my sales engineer, knows his stuff, knew the questions to ask and informed me of all the details to the financing, shipping and 55 point evaluation. it arrived yesterday, FANTASTIC. played great right out of the box, needed a slight tuning, darn cold weather, no string slippage on the vibrato, held tune, intonation right on. PRS is a class act, so is this company Sweetwater. Thank you Sean for your help and guidance. I have no doubts or worries buying on line from Sweetwater. I'll be paying this off and I'll be back. PRS CE Custom 22?

Even better than expected!

Picked up a great deal on a highly flamed demo Sweetwater was offering. The photos just don't do this thing justice... The fit/finish are top-notch! In person the light pick scratches Sweetwater provided photos of are barely visible unless you are really inspecting it for flaws. The guitar looks better than the photos had me thinking it would look (and they provide really nice photos). My sales engineer Ryan Murphy gave me a solid run-down of what to expect with a demo, and assured me I was making a wise decision with opting for it over a new guitar. I couldn't agree more with his advice! When I told him I was leaving town and was worried about how long it would take to get here he happily assisted to make sure I got it in time. Now for what really matters... The playability and tones are fantastic! These little guitars sing man!!! I was amazed at the resonance of the guitar when I strummed it without it being plugged in. It's so resonant that I'm having to revisit my plans to use this as my 4 a.m. "quiet" practice guitar (using headphones through my Marshall DSL5c) and I'm worried my 4 yr old will wake up unless I'm on the other side of the house. And the clarity... Wow... the notes just ring with clarity! Even when using the overdrive channel on the DSL5c turned all the way up I can still make out the individual notes of the chords I'm strumming. When using the classic gain channel I can get some really great clean tones, and when I start pushing it some really great vintage blues/rock tones. So far I'm finding this guitar to be great at a lot of the different styles I like to play. I honestly couldn't be happier with my purchase. Sweetwater is the only music store I will do business with from here on out!
Music background: 23 years playing guitar

Just wanted to say how extremely pleased I am with my PRS CE 24 purchase. To begin, I was extremely reluctant to purchase a guitar online. I had questions regarding the purchase and the return policy. My support associate Josh Strid was outstanding. He answered all of my questions, had a great personality, and basically was the reason that I moved forward with the purchase. The guitar arrived on the date promised and was in excellent shape. The Sweetwater process of taking pictures of the exact guitar is a fantastic idea, to ensure that you really are getting the guitar that is advertised. This guitar played great right out of the gig bag, as a result of the Sweetwater inspection process. The small bag of candy, that came with the guitar, was just the "icing on the cake" for an overall outstanding experience. My support associate even contacted me, after the purchase to inquire about my level of satisfaction. Sweetwater's pre, during, and post sales experience is outstanding!
