Irresistible looks and playability

Time-tested PRS tonewoods - a balanced mahogany body, designer maple top, and velvety rosewood fingerboard - with a fast new maple neck give the CE 24 a warm and balanced sound with a look you won't be able to keep your hands off. Sweetwater guitarists are big on the CE 24's thinner body and more comfortable top carve, which feel great against the wrist and forearm for strumming.

Bolt-on maple neck captures the excitement of the original

Fans of the original CE series from the 1980s to the 2000s will feel right at home playing the updated PRS CE 24's bolt-on maple neck. The CE 24 plays a lot like a Custom 24, but has a woodier attack and sharper bite you can really dig into. Whether you play blues leads or rock 'n' roll rhythms, Sweetwater guitarists are sure the PRS CE 24 has a sound for you.

Versatile 85/15 pickups for 6 humbucker/single-coil sounds

Modern-voiced with vintage characteristics, the CE 24's coil tapped humbuckers sound great for rock and pop, indie, metal, or punk. A push-pull pot lets you transition from scorching metal leads to sweet California twang on the fly.

An Exceptional Guitar

This is an exceptional guitar. Set up was perfect out of the box--no fret buzz anywhere on the neck, great action, and stable tuning even when I heavily use the vibrato or bend the strings. Attention to detail is evident: The fit/finish and build quality are fantastic, as is expected with a PRS, and it feels like it'll last forever. The tone and volume controls work very smoothly and with a nice taper when rolled up or down; there are no odd drop outs or jagged reductions/jumps in volume/tone when the knobs are used. If anything I may just fiddle with the pickup heights to see what other sounds I can get, but to tell you the truth they sound fine where they sit. As for tone, this guitar sounds just as good as it looks. I listened to several videos of this model online, but I always thought it sounded very brash and brittle in almost all of the videos I viewed. This is until I played one in real life. The morale of the story is: play it for yourself and you will see that it sounds significantly better in person. The 85/15 pickups sound excellent for classic rock, R&B, and blues. Metal can certainly be done too, but users of active pickups may desire more--I don't play metal though, so they are 100% perfect in my use case. Sustain is superb and I've noticed I can get sustain when playing clean tones, when coil tapped, and in any pickup position--PRS is known to make guitars with great sustain and they've nailed it with this one. Kick on some overdrive or distortion and the sustain lasts even longer. All the notes on my guitar have a particular degree of sustain, but I've noticed E, F, F#, and G are very resonant. Tones in the 5th through 8th position have a certain quality of tone I've not experienced before; they are very rich and have pleasant overtones. Humbucker tones are nice and thick, coil tapped tones are vibrant and chimey. I've read other posts that state the single coil tones are unique and not 'Strat-like.' But I beg to differ to an extent--I have a HEAVILY upgraded, 'diamond in the rough,' MIM Franken-Strat that has a nice set of Dimarzio's and this PRS sounds so, so close! There is no Strat 'quack,' which is a unique trait of Strats in the 2 or 4 pickup position, but the tones on the PRS cut through and brighten-up when coil tapped. I'm not longing for my Strat when I play some Jimi or SRV, so take that for what it's worth. I'll never sell my Franken-Strat, but I know it won't be played as much because it's not nearly as versatile. I'd like to send a shout out to my sales engineer, Jon Faloon. I could have easily purchased this guitar from another company. But Sweetwater and their team of personnel are a cut above the rest of the industry--I couldn't see myself buying from another company because I wouldn't have the support, openness, honesty, and customer service that are readily apparent with Sweetwater and with Jon. Customer for life!!

Great guitar

Was originally looking at Gibson Studio Les Pauls or Fender American Professionals. Based on my wants and needs, my sales tech (Chris, who was great), recommended the PRS CE line. It was at the top end of my price range, but I decided to take the gamble and go for it. I haven't had a chance to play any PRS', so I can't say what the value of the PRS CE 24 is relative to other, slightly cheaper lines, but I love this guitar. The dark cherry sunburst looks great, the tone is great, sustain is great. The neck is smooth and never gets sticky, and the action is lower, which suits me. All in all, very please with this guitar. The only reason I'm knocking it down a half-star is the fact it doesn't come with a hard case. This is a pretty common complaint, but I really do think that it should have a hard case for the money you're paying. Note: This is my first U.S.A. made guitar, so take that for what it's worth. Been playing for 15 years.
Music background: Rock, metal, red dirt country, blues

Beautiful top and beautiful sound. This thing is a joy to play with its fantastic satin neck. It's a wonderful value that deserves a look if you're considering the PRS lineup. Don't be scared by the bolt-on, it feels great.
