Squier Bronco Bass Guitar - Torino Red Reviews
The Squier Bronco Bass is a great pick for guitarists who occasionally need a bass, younger beginners, smaller players, or for anyone who likes the feel of a short-scale (30") bass. It tunes easily and sounds full and rich, thanks to its single-coil pickup, maple neck, die-cast tuners and solid agathis body.

Great bass for the money
Sounds and plays great. Fantastic experience with Sweetwater.
57 yr old Spam loves this bass
My first guitar was a Fender Mustang which I got when I was 15, in 1969.
I've had many beautiful Guitars since then.
But never a bass.
Since I was impressed with a couple Squier Strats I bought for my grandsons a couple years back, I thought I would take a chance on one of these.
I wasn't even sure I would get any enjoyment out of playing or learning to play, the bass.
I was over the moon at the playability of this Torino Red wonder right out of the box. The action might've been a little high for some, but it was perfect for me. I know whether a guitar sounds good and plays good, or not not.
This thing sounds great and believe it or not, it's got soul.
I really enjoy playing it unplugged as it has some nice volume even unplugged....very resonant.
I bought a little Joyo MA-10B lunchbox sized amplifier and was just as pleasantly surprised by it, as a bedroom practice amp. It suits my basic play at home Granda's needs, perfectly.
Fun little Bass
I am totally in love with this little bass.
It is definitely a cool first bass and its very easy to pick up if
you're coming from guitar like I am due to it being a short scale bass.
Its comfortable enough to play for a long time and at this price its perfect for beginners like myself
and those who want to feel out if bass is the right instrument for them. Absolutely loved the
service by Sweetwater as well.
In love
I spent all day waiting for it to arrive and when it finally did I was ecstatic. It’s perfect it’s beautiful and I love how it plays
Great for Students!
I run a high school modern band program. This bass was an excellent choice for my students. It's simple, sounds great, the scale is right, and the price can't be beat. I would highly recommend this model as a solid school instrument.

Squier Bronco Bass - Torino Red
I ordered on Thursday, received Friday, Played 4 set gig Saturday. No problems . Played the next weekend, outdoor gig. Played great. I did not have to set it up. It played fine out of the Box. I play in a 3 piece cover band ( classic rock Old Metal / hard rock, some old country too. I share lead guitar and bass duties, and all vocals. Both of us played this Bass. Drummer likes the Sound it makes played thru the Rumble 40 amp lined out to our p.a. The only mods I made were : Paint the pick-guard metallic blue krylon, black pickup cover, and black Strat knobs, to personalize it some. Works for Us !
Squier Bronco Bass
I"m a keyboard player with 53 years experience who wanted to get a bass to learn and "play around" with. This one came highly recommended, got it, and as a guitar playing friend said last night, you got a steal!" Said it came set up perfectly, intonated well, plays great! Having a lot of fun "learning the bass"! Thanks once again, Sweetwater!
Perfect Basic Bass
After playing bass for over 50 years, I have owned every type of bass from high-end to this Bronco. I have owned many Precisions and Jazz basses. The first time I tried a Bronco I was in my local Music Store trying out basses. On a "How Good Could This Be? moment, I plugged in a Red Bronco. I can tell you it's a little p-bass. Great playing neck that wonderful classic body style.
I bought one from Sweetwater's great sales team.
In the Torino Red. It arrived in perfect condition. I did a setup on it. String height and set intonation. A little more difficult with the two saddle vintage style bridge. I play it through a vintage? SWR TRIAD AND A FENDER 500 and Wow!! IMO I think the stock pickup sounds great. What a great bass! For any age and skill level. If you are into changing things out the Bronco is a Modders paradise. Light weight well made bass. I swapped out the hardware from chrome to black and installed a black 4 saddle bridge. Absolutely a fun great bass!
Great Bass!!!
At 65 this bass is a real Joy! I've played Pbass all my life.
Over 50 years! I've owned other basses but always returned
To the Precision. Leo with input from others created the best
Bass. IMHO. Arthritis has made it difficult to play and carry, so
I bought this bass and the fender Rumble 500. I run it through
An original issue SWR Triad. Wow!! This bass sounds amazing!
For me, I'm very satisfied. The bass was setup great and in perfect
Condition. You have to hear them through a hi fidelity cab. IMHO
needs nothing. Very easy to play! I've missed not having a bass for
So long that didn't hurt to play. Thanks Fender/Squier. There is no
better online service than Sweetwater. Thanks to John Ptak who
Guided me into a Great bass.
Reasonably happty
I really am blown away with kind personal serve I received from the sales people and the tech people. I a disappointed in the product I selected, wish I had spent a few more dollars and got one where you can adjust each string to get better intonation. All in all I am satisfied. Robert D
Actually really good
I was actually looking for the squire affinity pj bass when I saw this one, so I plugged it in and tried it, really not expecting much. But seriously I ended up buying it 20 minutes later because I liked it so much. What I like about it is its size, I'm a guitar player and picking up a regular bass is like picking up a giant. This one is small and frets are closer together so its much easier to play for me while still having a really great bass sound that you can adjust with the tone knob. I'm actually really happy that I tried it. Also I did try the affinity, and I still ended up getting this one because of how comfortable I felt playing it.
My first Bass. It should be yours too!
A solid Fender Bass for the beginner or just to play with. This Bass has everything you need and delivers a true Fender Bass sound at a very affordable price! The neck is shorter but does not limit you in any way. Great sound and a great value and best of all, its a Fender. I highly recommend for the beginner! You will be very pleased.
Nice little short scale
I've been playing bass for over forty years. My main basses are a really heavy G&L L-2000 and a Music Man Stingray. I recently injured my shoulder and damaged the nerves. I needed a light short scale bass to play comfortably and to be able to reach the lower register as I heal. I did a lot of research and narrowed it down to an Epiphone EB-0 and the Squier Bronco that I ultimately purchased from Sweetwater.
The Bronco was ready to play right out of the box. Tuned it up and took off. Fit and finish is excellent, especially in this price range. Really light and comfortable to play, sitting and strapped. It has a slight headstock dive. The bass feels more substantial and solid then I anticipated. It doesn't feel 'cheap'. The neck plays smooth and fast. The tuners tune. The volume and tone knobs do their job quietly. Sound quality is about what you'd expect from an inexpensive short scale bass. Not super beefy, but it's there. As an added bonus... it seems like this bass will be a perfect platform for mods and upgrades down the road.
Also... kudos to Sweetwater for the excellent service. Highly recommend them and this bass guitar.
Quality
Good quality instrument and amazing customer service. Only reason it"s nit 5 stars is because after I took off the plastic (which had air bubbles in it) the part that it was covering had little marks on it that don"t go away. But that"s just a minor cosmetics thing.
Great bass, finnicky intonation
Great bass overall, an absolute pleasure to play.
The only thing I'm not too happy with is the bridge placement & short saddle adjustment screws (cant adjust the saddles up far enough to get proper intonation. the E /A saddle is the worst).
I feel like this is a OEM defect/oversite. If the bridge was moved up roughly 0.25" (or had longer saddle screws), this wouldn't be an issue at all
This is a great little bass
This is a great bass for the money. While I'm primarily a six string player having played since 1964, I played bass extensively years back. I hadn't owned one for decades and decided to purchase this one. It's got a great neck and as one gets older like me you appreciate the light weight on your shoulder. Surprisingly it has a nice deep tone...I'm from the old school that plays bass like BASS and not like lead and it does what I want it to do very nicely. My only little nitpick is the bridge intonation setup: You are only able to adjust one pair of strings at a time, and not individually, otherwise I'd have given it a perfect score. Again, if you're looking for a bass to play ALL the time or just occasionally, you will truly enjoy this little honey from Fender.
For small hands
For the price, it"s a great beginner bass, especially for smaller hands. Be sure to take off BOTH layers of plastic film that comes on the front. It came fast and in pristine condition.
Inward Output
I got this bass from sweetwater on the 29th of November 2020. On the 1st of February 2021, the output jack was missing. It turns out the nut came loose and the jack fell into the massive cavity it was in. Other than that it sounds and plays pretty well, but that's about the only redeeming quality. The action could use some improvement as well. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but without an output jack it's just a chunk of wood.
