More than expected

I got this as a backup drive to my Glyph GT 050Q desktop, and it was even smaller than I thought it would be. More importantly, it turned out to be quiet enough to run while recording, which my desktop Glyph is not. (Though sometimes I forget to turn it off anyway!)So it turned out to be a great way to avoid both recording to the internal hard drive and surface noise at the same time. Also saves needed desk space for other gear. Automatic sync feature also very useful.

Pocket full of kryptonite

I'm happy to have replaced my portable G-Tech drive with this physically smaller, larger capacity BlackBox. It works very well, and has Glyph's signature styling. With USB3, transfer speeds are nice and fast.I was a little disappointed that my unit did not feature the two screws on the faceplate as they appear in the ads and I was surprised to see that the spindle speed is only 5400 RPM. Not really a minus, but it's also very striking to see the bright LED glowing continuously through the center vent and not modulating to indicate drive activity.I do think a soft pouch designed specifically for the drive would be a nice addition. I carry it around a lot, and I'd prefer not to get it scratched and dinged.

Glyph seems right to me

I really like using Glyph for my back ups. It just seems like the right thing to do. Their warranty is really nice. One upside and downside of the blackbox is that I don't have to turn on any lights in my apartment as the light in the center of the box is so bright it lights up my place. That's also the downside though as the light can be kind of obnoxious when you don't need all that light.

Satisfied Glyph owner

I've used Glyph drives for some time now. Always satisfied with build quality and performance, but the best part of Glyph is their customer service. Glyph and Sweetewater, a great combination.

Great, but be carfeul of the cords

I really like using Glyph drives as they seem to be high quality and their warranty policy is really excellent. Be careful though as I have gone through 2 bad USB cords that came with these units. If you are working from one of these hard drives and things are going slow (or not at all) replace the USB cord to see if that helps. I was getting the error message in Logic X "system overload" and I tried everything to fix the problem, including wiping my internal hard drive clean and reinstalling my operating system. 6 weeks into trying to solve the problem, I found out it was the USB cord that goes from the drive to my computer! I had another one that went bad too when I first bought the drive. It was taking forever to transfer video to.
