    Beatstation and I got married, going on four years

    Over the past four years I've been using Beatstation in Ableton Live and I absolutely love it. It's on every track I create. the sonic quality output on this plugin is beyond phenomenal. I can stack up to 5 sounds in a pad, add an effect on each pad (24 pads), run it through their internal effects either on a send channel or in the master channel, and you can have a side chain for the kick or sub. Their sound library is hands down worth the plugin (over 1GB in high quality original sounds run through iconic hip hop coloration tools like the MPC and SP1200), and you can mix completely inside the plugin like I do and save on processing power. I'm a little frugal when it comes to using plugins since I run a 2009 MacBook Pro 2.26 Core 2 Duo. The Beatstation will put my processing percentage from 17% to 21% and I'll use about 1-3 beatstations per song depending on how creative I need to be with my mixing. I can pull up any drum sound I like, stack it on top of others, add effects, then add a limiter on the drum bus with a side chain for the kick so I can get the cymbals and snare sounding nice and saturated in the mix while the kick jumps out past that, maybe add a sub bass on the bass keyboard, then add a mastering plugin to the entire output with another side chain on the kick to jump past the sub bass. I could write a novel about how awesome this plugin is but I hope you get the idea! Toontrack puts out quality plugins, this one is nothing short of that reputation.

    Beatstation = Awesome

    I am a hip-hop DJ/producer. I spend 90% of my time slicing up audio files in various programs such as Recycle. That's what I do. If you are into slicing things up, this program is definitely worth the investment. While Recycle is very user friendly and efficient, it is still limited to the REX format which is only compatible with certain types of software. Beatstation allows you to slice up audio in the same way you would using Recycle. However, the slices are actual audio samples instead of REX files. This allows you to use them not only in Beatstation but in other programs as well. This is a very useful tool and should not be under-estimated. Not only that, but the sounds and presets that come with the Beatstation are nothing short of incredible. The oneshots are all ran through MPC's and other various types of hardware to give them that thumpy warm sound that is so sought after by hip hop and electronic music producers alike. The other day i went in and replaced the drums in a beat I made with drums from the Beatstation just to see what it would sound like, and within seconds my track sounded 10 times better than it did before. Once again, if you are a music producer who likes to chop things up and rearrange them into something new - or if you're just looking for some great sounds to start producing music with - this program is something you should definitely consider checking out.
