This Electro-Harmonix pedal is wicked fun! Anything from huge synth wobble to subtle thickening, the Bass Micro Synth delivers. My favorite aspect is the extremely wide range of tones I can pull out of this thing. Whenever I'm looking for some inspiration to build a new tone, I can always find it with just a bit of tweaking. And just because it says "bass" on the front doesn't mean I won't run a guitar through it too...

There is nothing micro about it.

This pedal is by far the best purchase I've made in a long time. The effects are astounding and the combinations are seemingly limitless. Once you get a feel for the individual aspects this pedal has to offer, you can create sounds that will blow people's minds whilst making their booties shake. If you're on the fence, jump over and buy this pedal.

    EH Bass Micro Synth

I read several reviews and watched many videos before purchasing the Bass Micro Synth pedal. One thing I read in many of the reviews turned out to be true in my case as well. When I tried this device with an active bass, I struggled to make it work the way I wanted to.

Plugging my passive Jazz bass into it though made it work great. Loads of tweakability. Very minor changes in the control can make a vast difference in the output sound of this unit.

Using this pedal live might be a bit of a struggle if you're going to get more than one sound out of it for a given show. Getting back to a sound that you like may also be a struggle. EH very wisely put some templates in the manual to help you find sounds while you are getting familiar with the unit. They also have blank templates so that you can remember how to get back to sounds you have created.

I am really digging this pedal.

If you play Bass, you need one of these

This is a pedal that does it all. Articulate distortion, additional EQ shaping, funky wah and moog-like sounds are all here. I also find that like most EHX pedals, the Micro Synth has a solid tonal timbre…great tone!.

Received this pedal at work, earlier today. Came home and played around with it.
I'm not going to lie...It's not exactly what I thought it was going to be.
But I'm not returning it though, because it's definitely fun to experiment with. Diff sounds to play with that'll eventually come in handy :)
BUT...Sadly I don't think it will be going on my pedalboard any time soon.

A really awful piece of equipment

The 1 star I gave this item is far more than the Micro Synth deserves. This pedal does not track your playing about 60% of the time, the unadjustable gate needs to get hit hard to open and it closes like a steel trap if you try to sustain a note for more than 1/2 a second, the pedal pops and clicks at the beginning and end of virtually every note played (like you're plugging and unplugging your bass with every note), and it constantly hisses whenever the gate opens (though "hiss" does not describe the wind tunnel-like white noise it produces).

The cool sounds that it makes cannot be overcome by the series of serious technical flaws in its design, Electro-Harmonix really needs to go back to formula on this one.
