TUBE TONE TO THE BONE

TransTube tech REALLY works. These sound EXACTLY like the best tube amps, with tube feel, tube response, sweet-highs and balanced lows. There is a slight natural compression. That compression increases with volume, just like a real tube amp. It"s VERY responsive to picking dynamics over a wide dynamic range. It can be clean like country water, crunchy as a Butterfinger Bar, greasy as home-fried chicken, or soaring and searing like sodium lasers. The CLEAN channel sounds like 6L6 power tubes, (Fender) while the high-gain channel sounds more like EL34 tubes. (Marshall)The tone-stack responds like proper 12ax7 tubes. GOOD SPEAKERSSpeakers are a CRUCIAL link in audio chains.Peavey Blue Marvels are among the best OEM speakers. They have high-sensitivity, low Fs, and the right balance of frequency response and power handling for ROCK.These can be LOUD! But thanks to the power switching, you can tame it for small venues. And let"s face it… when was the last time anyone ever asked you to turn UP? PREAMP PLACEMENTTransTube circuits place the tone stack in FRONT of the power section, where it belongs for great distorted tones. Just like the best British amps, Peavey engineered these to work like the big boys" toys. SUPER RELIABLE My first TransTube amp is over thirty years old, has endured countless ROCK gigs, traveled thousands of miles in crowded trucks during sweltering summer heat and freezing winter cold. Darn thing won"t die. I have had to spray-clean the pots a few times since that amp was used in the smoking-era of dive bars and low rent tours. Replaced an indicator lamp… once. Other than that, …Zero maintenance for three decades. Is there anything I don"t like about this amp?Compared to some modern amps made with baltic birch plywood, it"s bit heavy at 40 pounds, but still manageable. That"s less weight than comparable tube combo amps. Tube amps require HEAVY transformers. These don"t. I see these used in Nashville, where players must move from bar-to-bar several times a night. They use collapsable rolling carts, stuff a small pedal board in the back, then boogie down Broadway. The consistency of these amps is amazing. You can A-B two of them in a store. Or, as I have done numerous times, play my old one along side a newer one for stereo rigs. Importantly, your tone is NOT influenced by the dirty AC power in every dumb nightclub. Nightclubs are notorious for poor power. Cheapskate club-owners care nothing about proper wiring, ground loops, or surges caused by restaurant equipment. That"s when stable TransTube tech saves your banana.Nasty Nightclub power fries digital doohickeys. Sketchy AC eats precious tubes like expensive hors d"oeuvres. …But it does nothing to these bullet-proof Peaveys. You don"t need a pricey power supply, Faraday-cage, or heavy isolated transformer to protect this. This is the original SS amp that started the modern SS revolution. Now, there are other good sounding all-analog Solid State amps. But none can beat the pure old-school tube-tone, simplicity, ruggedness and overall value of these Peavey Bandits. This is a tried-and-true design, field-tested by maniacal monkeys like me over decades. Other than the slightly heavy cab and the kooky Spy-vs-Spy lettering, I love everything about this amp. It sounds and feels like the best tube amps, but is more consistent and reliable, night-to-night… club-to-club.But if you want REAL old-school tube-tone without tube hassles, this is the right thang with the BIG bang.I might buy another one, even though I already have three.

Too loud for me, but 5 stars sound

100 Watts was way too loud for a bedroom. I had the volume close to 2, only and it is already too loud. I dialed the best crunch and high gain sounds with a Rat pedal that was very effective to cut the low frequencies. I also did well with a 7 band MXR Eq pedal able again to cut the lows. Quite honestly, I am doing better with my Peavey vypyr VIP 1.

Built like a cinderblock sounds like a twin

Superclean sounds, great distortion via boss blues driver. Loud very loud built like a cinderblock, Best amp under $500 period I have the matching extension cabinet killer . If you add an extension cabinet make sure it's a 8 olm to match amp speaker. Peavey 95 bandit. USA made. Never had any kind of problem lots of use, New ones are made in China still a great amp for $$$$$

REALLY GREAT AMP !!!

Outstanding amp for the money. I love every feature, not overdone. Very easy to use and dial in tone, Very good clean channel with reverb - add your own chorus. Lead channel is also very good from deep grunge to searing leads. Remember that in the words of "Eddie" tone is all about "adjustment" This amp is VERY LOUD on the lead channel when plugged into the high gain input - plenty of gain and sustain. It's 80 watts RMS, not just 80 watts if you know what I mean. The 25, 50, 100% power switch is also very handy for small room use. You can definitely gig with this; cuts through the mix with ease. Great send/receive effects loop for whatever pedals you may want to use. Get the channel footswitch for only about $ 30 more, it's worth it. I tried other brands and was very disappointed until I tried this no-nonsense amp. Get it, you won't be sorry. I own a Peavey XXX 212 tube amp built in 2002. This amp is almost as good , but not quite as the XXX 212 has 20 more watts RMS and has 2 12" speaker instead of just one.
