Power Your Backbeat with Titanium!

What's cooler then titanium? The DW Collector's Series Black Ti 6.5" x 14" Snare Drum gives you a less-metallic sound than some other metal shell materials, making this snare ideal for many pro studio and touring drummers. Tuned down, this snare will elicit a husky bark. Tune it tight, and and it'll muscle through the thickest mix. The drum's thin, 1mm shell has integrated, rolled bearing edges and snare beds, and a mirror-polished exterior. And it sports black nickel hardware (thus, the name). Power your backbeat with a very special snare drum: the DW Black Ti.

Every studio needs a real snare.....

....for when someone shows up with a cheap one. This is a great sounding snare, with great punch and top end, and a very recording-friendly decay. I don't play drums, so I am basing my review on recording the snare. The drummer in my band says it's fantastically expressive, and it does sound that way. Well built, great sounding, and it holds tune well.
Music background: Bassist, Vocalist, Recording Engineer, not necessarily in that order....

Sweetwater Advice

The DW Titanium Snare is a great choice if you're looking for a different voice to add to your snare collection. It's brighter than a wood snare, but it's not ringey like a steel snare can be. Rim shots on this drum are incredibly powerful with plenty of cut. At the same time, the snare still has plenty of sensitivity, making it great for studio use. Whether this becomes your workhorse, or if you simply use this as a nice change of pace, this drum is certainly a worthy addition to any drummer's or studio's collection.
