Model Custom Guitar Amps

You'll probably agree with those of us at Sweetwater who think that amp modeling is pretty cool. It generally sounds pretty amazing these days, and for most of us, it's way more feasible than hauling a truck full of amps to and from gigs and the studio. Positive Grid has worked with session musicians and engineers worldwide to create professional custom guitar amp models and amp-matched models made from recordings in top studios. The result is BIAS Desktop, a versatile and incredibly accurate guitar amp modeler and designer. BIAS Desktop's advanced amp-modeling engine captures the warmth and feel of real tube amps, component by component. BIAS is fully customizable, letting you create amp models by swapping out the tubes, preamp, transformer, tone stacks, cabinets, and mics to create your own signature amps and sound.

Positive Grid BIAS Desktop Features:

The Best

Virtual amp that don't sound virtual. Amazing!!
5/5

Impressive!

I am super-impressed with the sound of the BIAS Amp, and very much so with the custom models submitted by users. Incorporating external cabinet IRs, as well as other convolvers, also rounds out the sound, but the BIAS Amp, as-is, is sonically pleasing. The degree of tweakability is a godsend for those desiring a hands-on approach. Also noteworthy is the willingness of Positive Grid staff to help one out when questions of operation arise. I am continually amazed at the numerous extremely-inventive products that are available to musicians of all levels - Positive Grid has a winner with this product.

Excellent recording and practice tool

Bias is my number one recording and practice tool. The amp models all have a really great feel to them, its very close to an authentic "tube and mic'd in a studio" sound. The amps have a very dynamic response to pick attack which is something that I've found most digital modelers lack. The tweaking options are amazing, you can control every nuance of the tone right there. Does it sound as good as the $2000 tube amps that it models? No. But, the only thing that you will get that sounds as close as bias does is probably an axe fx or kemper. For $100 it literally cannot be beat. My favorite amps on the software are the Ola Satan (which is on the tone cloud, can be downloaded), Orange, JCM800, and duel rectifier models.

Positive Grid BIAS Amp Amp Maych Modeling Plug-in

There is a bit of a learning curve involved with this product. It took a call to Sweetwaters Tech department and a screen share to actually get the software operational. It's a good looking program and I've been pleased with the sounds I can get with it. For $...Not bad, but it's not the full blown product. You have to buy an upgrade if you want all the features. Disappointed in that respect.

Regret not buying pro

It's like an advertisement for Bias Amp Pro. You know when you install a free program and then you click on some things to accomplish the task at hand and a popup says you have to upgrade to use that feature. That's what it's like. When browsing through the tone cloud there is nothing specifying that the profile was built with the pro version, and if you have the non-pro version you can't download amps that were designed on the pro version. If you try to download no window or pop up comes up saying you can't download, just absolutely nothing happens. It's very misinforming. If there wasn't so much diiference between the regular and pro version and I had know about this first then I would give it 5 stars. But because of misleading advertising gimics from positive grid I can't give it a good review.
