    BIAB Mac

I used this software many years ago when Director of Music at Ellesmere College.

The current version does everything I need and so much more. Just beginning to learn about some sophisticated feature, like writing in 5/4 time.

Have produced some superb backing tracks with quite 'tasty' chord progressions.

    Many thanks
    Revd CD

    Fun

I bought BiaB when it first came out. It was a bit of a disappointment. But now, they've improved it so much that I'm really enjoying it.

    Band-in-a-Box 2013 for Mac

Band in a Box is a terrific tool on a lot of levels. I use it for a couple of reasons. 1) For myself as a way to practice new tunes with a rhythm section, Being able to vary tempos really helps in getting a tune under your fingers. I also use it to compose my own songs. I can hear how I might want to voice chords to get the best results.
    2) For making my students a practice disc of material that we're working on.
PG Music has added a lot of new features from an older version which I used to use. I'm finding that it takes a bit of time to get used to. In a way, these features are a bit overwhelming, and require some patience to learn. However, overall it's a great device for self improvement.

    BIAB for Mac

I had a 2008 PC version which I had learned to use to do what I needed and switching to a Mac has had a pretty steep learning curve. Once I get up to speed I think it will be fine but for now it is hard to give it a rating. I gave it 2.5 but wouldn't have rated it at all except I couldn't submit the review without a rating. I suspect it will be higher once I have learned to use it better. It has way more bells than I need since I am not a professional or even advanced amateur and want it mainly as a practice tool.

Mac users are shotchanged repeatedly by PGMusic

For Mac users this program does not have many of the very useful features that the Windows version has. For example repeats, 1st and 2nd endings. The product development group continually releases a sub standard version for Mac. When I wanted to "crossgrade" my version to Windows I find out that the cost for my version is 400 dollars. The greed of this company is deafening. First they shortchange mac users then they charge almost the same price as the original version. I doubt I will continue to do business with them. BTW I pay the same price as Windows users.
